Well any of their releases are pretty good ways in (well, excluding their spoken word EP's), but I think that their debut album Somewhere At The Bottom of The River gives the best feel for the band. The Vancouver EP is a bit more straightforward but really good and Wildlife is pretty similar to the first album.

I will check it out if I don't forgot it.
Oh boy, this band again huh?
It's incredible how much they've blown up since the time I was really into them (and no, I don't say that as a "I heard them before they were popular"). The last release I listened to by them was Somewhere At The Bottom of The River, which I thought was fucking fantastic. Haven't really kept up with them since that though. And Vancouver fucking rules.
BUT. I'm getting sick of this wave. Touché Amore fucking suck. And I really fucking hate that all lonely teenage girls are milking the shit out of this band, that actually is amazing. But I get so mad when I hop on youtube and see 609249 acoustic covers of Such Small Hands by waves and waves of teenage girls. I'm sorry but it makes me feel dirty for listening to these guys.
Now, I'm off to listen to Wildlife.

Implying that the Here. Hear. EPs aren't good? Son I am disappoint... Here Hear III is easily one of their better releases, and while the other two EPs aren't quite up to par with most of their stuff they at least showcase some of what La Dispute is capable of.
Agreed that Somewhere at the Bottom of the River is the best place to start though.
My first reaction to la dispute wasn't a good one, but when i came back to listen to a song off their newest album when it released and it clicked with me.
Now i love them in general.
I guess i just really didn't really give them a shot at first.

Perfect song, the lyrics are just the best.

Not what I meant but I see I pretty much said that haha :v: nah i just meant they're not really the best way into the band. They're still all good.

In that case I completely agree
I got Somewhere At The Bottom of The River at while ago and it's a pretty great album. I'm not into the post-hardcore genre at all but something about the guys voice doesn't quite go into that realm of unbearable screaming for me so I've enjoyed the album a lot. Looking forward to getting Wildlife when I have the money.

I understand where you're coming from, but the people who listen to the music, no matter how annoying or bad etc, don't change the actual music themselves, so don't let it bother you so much.
I usually just make those annoying girls feel bad when they don't know shit about the music they "love".

Wow, These guys are just awesome. Got all their stuff in flac form now :D. Also, plan on buying wildlife on vinyl in a few days.

Wow thats awesome, I already have all of their stuff in some sort of digital or physical form but it wouldn't hurt to jump on some FLACs or 320s tomorrow.
my dad actually managed to score me a La Dispute T shirt for Xmas, which was pretty amazing because I didn't know he knew I liked them
I'll never get bored with deciphering lyrics.
I always get confused between them and Letlive.

How? They're nothing alike, unless you mean their names in which case...... Yea they're nothing alike.
They just remind me of each other. I don't listen to them a lot so I don't know how different they are.
Then begin your journey.
The only song I've heard by them is Such Small Hands, and it's a pretty cool but different song. I'll have to check out more of their stuff.

Check out Wildlife. It's their best album.

Wildlife is great but I definitely wouldn't recommend it to someone trying to get into them, Somewhere at the Bottom of the River is the best way to get into them. Wildlife being the obvious next step, then dig deeper.

It was the exact opposite for me, I first heard a few songs off of Somewhere at the Bottom of the River and i thought it was terrible.
For some reason it didn't click with me at all, but then wildlife released and i was introduced to King park.....Pure love from there.

There's your problem, its not an album that you can judge based on "a few songs" you have to take in each moment between Such Small Hands and Nobody Not Even The Rain. If you don't like it after that then its probably not your thing. Though its hard to see someone who likes Wildlife not enjoying Somewhere at all let alone thinking its "terrible", its literally the same thing as Wildlife just more aggressive, emotional, and in your face. I guess I could see it if you aren't into aggressive music but I already know that you listen to more aggressive things than La Dispute. Also Somewhere is an album that you sort of have to connect with, it has to click, I was just lucky enough to hear it first at a time when it was exactly what I needed to hear.
[sp]Don't mind me, just defending my favorite album of all time ;)[/sp]

I do believe that is where i went wrong since i didn't give the whole album a listen to but afterwards i went back to listen to the whole album and i ended up enjoying. Also, i think on wildlife it is easier to get used to the singers vocals(which i love now).
King Park's "can I still get into heaven if I kill myself" is sort of strange to be heard listening to by people who have no idea what you're listening to
Im so glad more people are listening to this band on FP, they're one the deepest and most passionate bands out there, I've been absolutely obsessed with them for months now.
Also got this shirt in the mail on Friday:
