They featured the frontman from Touche Amore back on their split. I recommend starting with either Somewhere at the Bottom of the River or Wildlife.
I know I'm gonna end up getting all of them though, haha. Its good, original music. Thanks for the advice. Also the one time I saw DGD live it was a huge disappointment. It was this last summer, and Jonny had no emotion whatsoever (it was apparently the day that his mom broke down because of his heroin addiction, so I guess I can't hold that against him), and Jon Mess wasn't there cause he was sick and so Will had to fill in. Terribly lame. [editline]22nd February 2012[/editline]
this should just be the general emo/screamo/post-hardcore etc thread anyway since it's pretty much what it's become and it's better that way
The only thing is all post-hardcore threads eventually turn into a shitstorm, but maybe by having the title not be so obvious, it will keep some of that out.

The first time they were touring with iwrestledabearonce and In Fear and Faith, it was crazy awesome because it was their first tour with the original lineup. The second time was at warped tour which was pretty good but nothing special.
I saw DGD live too, maybe it was just a lucky day but Jonny was on his game, he sounded great as did everyone else. And since this has become the La Dispute and everything remotely similar to them thread, have some BATS Science-core. [editline]22nd February 2012[/editline] Some good older emo/post-hardcore shit with spoken word sort of like La Dispute, ignore the scene kid picture on the video. I like Moss Icon. Trophy Scars, kind of reminds me of Blood Brothers, in the post-hardcore/emo genre

It just sounds way more polished, not to mention the lyrics have improved a shit ton. [editline]23rd February 2012[/editline] Hospital Music was a solid EP though. There Are Ghosts into this song especially:
rewire your contract
You listen to some songs and realise how boring your life is.
More Than Life is good
More Than Life is good
Yea they're great, one of my first favorite hardcore bands, haven't listened to them in a while. I need to get back into them. Anyways, check this album out. http://somemistakes.bandcamp.com/album/glamorous-thoughts [editline]9th March 2012[/editline] Its like More Than Life but anyone who likes La Dispute, Defeater, or Modern Life is War will like it.
Since we are talking about other bands. I got tickets to a show with Pianos become the teeth. The location isn't far from where i live, little over a hour. Though they are also on tour with Moving Mountains and Coheed and Cambria, Odd Line-up
I have a screamo thread up if people want to migrate over there instead (when it comes to not talking about La Dispute (why the fuck are we discussing screamo in a La Dispute thread anyway)). http://facepunch.com/threads/1018276 [editline]15th March 2012[/editline]
Dude, I love Jeromes Dream. Did you know that the vocalist, when recording, would put his mic on the ground before they started playing and record the vocals from his feet? Anyways, in non-derailed news, just got back from La Dispute. Dear god, They are great live, but it was an underage show, so there was about five people who didn't act like it was a Justin Bieber gig. The crowd were more interested in trying to get Jordan to either punch them or make out with them then they were in the music. I hate emo kids. But, I did pick up Wildlife on clear vinyl! Score!
Jeromes Dream is probably my #1 favourite band. I have the discog on Digipak CD.
Just got back from finally seeing La Dispute, thought I'd give a little recap of the show for anyone planning to see them on this tour (they kicked it off in Minneapolis woo). Setlists in spoilers because I'm sure somebody will care about that and there are some surprises. Sainthood Reps - Got there just after their set unfortunately. All Get Out - Really blew me away, I didn't know any of the names of the songs but their first song especially was awesome, starting out with a weird folk tune and exploding into some post-hardcore riffage. Better than expected, although I think they might be one of those bands that's way better live than in studio. These guys were hilarious on stage too. Balance and Composure - Great as expected, their set started off a bit shaky but the crowd got into it. It helped that I knew the words to a couple songs. Ended up leaving with a t-shirt and CD from them. Setlist (as best as I remember it): [sp]Void, Quake, some songs from Separation that I don't know the names of, Burden, a song called Seahorse that I had never heard before, Stonehands, Progress Progress (first time playing this live apparently and it was phenomenal), a few more from Separation that I'm unsure of.[/sp] La Dispute - Almost better than expected, the crowd sucked for the first couple songs but they eventually got into it and ended up being an awesome crowd. We ended up at the front despite starting sort of in the middle of the crowd and man was it an experience. Jordan didn't talk much as expected, but everybody knew the lyrics and the band was spot on. Setlist (Might be a bit out of order, whatever): [sp]Eleven, Harder Harmonies, Edit Your Hometown, New Storms For Older Lovers, The Most Beautiful Bitter Fruit, a Poem, Sad Prayers For Guilty Bodies, Bury Your Flame, Said The King To The River, Why It Scares Me, a Letter, I See Everything, Edward Benz. 27 Times, and Encore: The Last Lost Continent. It seems they've retired Such Small Hands and Nobody, Not Even The Rain, and still no King Park.[/sp] Overall great concert. The openers exceeded expectations and La Dispute delivered. $12 well spent.
Hey guys, they did a nice 40 minute live set for audiotree, really great stuff
My friend linked me to a new band called Saetia, and half the comments are just a war between Saetia fans and La Dispute fans. Why? :/
Jelly of anyone that gets to see LD/B&C/All Get Out/ Sainthood fucking... La Dispute never coming to Vegas even on their next tour. zzz
My friend linked me to a new band called Saetia, and half the comments are just a war between Saetia fans and La Dispute fans. Why? :/
Well La Dispute fans seem to be listening to Saetia because they've heard murmurs around the internet and such that theres this old band called Saetia that is similar to them. Saetia's fans, especially on Youtube, are mad because a lot of them are old tr00 emo/screamo purists and La Dispute's recent popularity and accessibility doesn't sit too well with them (I mean you don't see PBTT vs. City of Caterpillar fights or anything, so I would guess its because of popularity). I like both bands personally and I think a lot of people would agree. Youtube fights are usually just out of hand dicksizing matches with no real purpose anyways. [editline]7th April 2012[/editline] On an unrelated note From the show I went to. So awesome. [editline]7th April 2012[/editline] And this apparently happened 3 days later..... Oh my fuck.
Holy fuck I thought it was intense when I went to see them. King Park is an incredibly song, despite the stigma that comes with it of people only loving it and such small hands
It's understandable, King Park and Such Small Hands just hit you hard right away and people like that. I'm kinda sad I didn't get to hear either of them live but Said The King To The River, Bury Your Flame, New Storms, and especially The Last Lost Continent more than made up for that.

I completely forgot about these guys until i came across this thread Just listened to wildlife and holy shit...his lyrics are so incredible Kings park gave me shivers and then i realized i had been staring at my wall for the past 6 minutes
Does anyone else prefer Touche Amore over La Dispute?
Does anyone else prefer Touche Amore over La Dispute?
To the beat of a dead horse was a little off putting for me. But Parting the sea between brightness and me was brilliant. Still not as good as La Dispute though
Does anyone else prefer Touche Amore over La Dispute?
I like them both for different reasons. Touche Amore is a faster heavier sort've band but still pack a lot of meaning into their songs while La Dispute is more complicated and drawn out. Both are very good live too.
Does anyone else prefer Touche Amore over La Dispute?
They're pretty good wouldn't say I'm even close to liking them better than La Dispute though. They're definitely heading in the right direction. If their next album goes more in the direction of their "new" song, then we could be talkin
Orange amp and cab that are not orange. Shame.
Gave Touche Amore my first listen. It was pretty damn good.
Just got back from the show, La Dispute was fantastic, honestly. It was a truly memorable experience, they even managed to get the crowd to quiet down for a "moment of silence" during King Park. I just wish they had done more of their older stuff instead of doing songs like "a Letter" and "All Our Bruised Bodies". They didn't even do Bury Your Flame or Said the King to the River, or hell even Ed Benz. But I must say they're very passionate performers.
