wedding rings symbolize how much money a couple is willing to spend on hollow bullshit
Exactly. My wife said she would have accepted the plastic ring from a Ring Pop, as long as I was willing to spend my life with her. Of course I didn't get her just that but..
Instead of consulting the store or trying to find a receipt for the ring, you just go to the Internet?!
How the hell does a diamond come off of a diamond ring?
That's what i want to know.

Life goes on.
go mining
Insurance covers this kind of thing, but it can't bring back the sentimental value

This happened to my girlfriend, except it was her grandmother's old ring and it was given to her by her dad. Absolutely broke her heart.
*cheap ring* that's why it fell off xD
tell her she should be more depressed that the guy who mined the diamond for that ring probably had his hand cut off
First of all, some people should calm the fuck down because actual depression is based on the status of everything around you. You don't just get out of depression by saying "try going to a third world country", because that wouldn't help. Personal problems make up depression, and I'm not talking about gay faggot emo kids, I'm talking about people who really feel like they have no purpose. Those people are depressed because of what is happening or has happened to them. Hearing somebody say "HEY IN CHINA THERE ARE STARVING CHILDREN" won't instantly make them realize "oh well if they're starving in Africa well I must be undepressed and will be happy about all the goddamn bullshit my current personal life has. [editline]23rd April 2011[/editline] OP, I understand how your mother is depressed. She lost not only a valuable item, but it was also something that marked a very important time/day to her. THe reason she's depressed is because that diamond probably had some real sentimental value. EDIT: Gotta expect the worse from Facepunch
EDIT: Gotta expect the worse from Facepunch
No kidding. Apparently if you aren't dying of starvation in Africa you shouldn't be depressed.
go mining
Be sure to branch mine and keep a bucket of water with you at all times.
Holy shit, that diamond was worth like 50 dead africans. That's a shame, because diamonds don't really mean anything in marriage anyway. The whole diamond ring thing was invented by american companies just so they can make money off of people's love for each other, ahaha. Well, can't blame them. It's the American way. Get richer any way you can. They even made business with Hitler.
She hasn't been this sad since my grandmother's funeral. And PLEASE no dumb responses like "make a thread about it". She's in a huge mess and I want to make her happy again. I just hate seeing her like this. She's trying to shake this whole thing off but it isn't working out for her. The least I can ask you guys is to help me find a way to cheer her up. And PLEASE no dumb responses like "make a thread about it". We tried everything we could to find it.
Sure is redundant in here. Well, there is a very effective solution: Make a thread about it.

I know everyone is rating this dumb, but you have my sympathy, I hope your mother can find the diamond. I know what losing a sentimental item can be like.
My dad lost his wedding ring that had diamonds in it. He didn't give a fuck. My mom didn't give a fuck either. They were still married, so nothing happened. She'll get over it.
I can understand b/c its expensive, but cmon don't be materialistic. Edit: Replace with cubic zirconia like on Fairly Odd Parents.
I don't think I've ever seen my dad wear a wedding ring...
No kidding. Apparently if you aren't dying of starvation in Africa you shouldn't be depressed.
Welcome to Facepunch.
Unless the stone is like enormous I don't think a random worker will even notice it before wiping it out to the trash.
Don't worry OP, I'll come to your house and look for it.
A 2 grand wedding ring is pretty bad.
Buy a $20 cubic zirconia and tell her it's the real thing. If you're young enough, even if you get found out, it'll just be sweet. [editline]25th April 2011[/editline] And if you get it coated in a layer diamond-like-carbon via CVD, it should appear to be a real diamond in a quick test by an average jeweler.
