Wow, how can an object mean so much to a person? I thought it was the idea, not the object that was what meant most to a person.
Holy shit, that diamond was worth like 50 dead africans. That's a shame, because diamonds don't really mean anything in marriage anyway. The whole diamond ring thing was invented by american companies just so they can make money off of people's love for each other, ahaha. Well, can't blame them. It's the American way. Get richer any way you can. They even made business with Hitler.
Aaaaaaand this is exactly why I wrote my post. [editline]24th April 2011[/editline] To refute my point: his mother is depressed that she lost it because it had sentimental value, not because it was worth a lot. [editline]24th April 2011[/editline] I mean shit people I know you guys aren't the greatest people but come on
And I bet if your computer disappeared or was destroyed you'd be depressed, don't act so high and mighty about it because she is acting reasonable
Does she use the diamond on her ring for anything? Does it actually have any bearing on her life? Im not saying she shouldnt be unhappy, but Id much rather lose a 200,000 dollar diamond than a spouse, something that actually matters to your life.
A ring doesn't have physical purpose but it has meaning attached to it beyond just its market value. I'd like to think anyone would rather lose the stone over their spouse but apparently she wasn't in a situation to have to make a choice like that, she lost the diamond on its own without strings attached, that alone seems fine to be upset about to me
exactly. people are saying what she SHOULD be upset about when she IS actually upset for that reason.
And I bet if your computer disappeared or was destroyed you'd be depressed
Seriously? Computers have purpose and functionality. A ring has as much purpose and functionality as a clump of dirt.
only rings I'll ever buy are onion rings
That probably has more to do with how you handle females. :smug:
Get her a new one. :buddy:
Because you can pull 2000 dollar Diamonds out your ass. Hell in Minecraft, a fictional fucking game it takes me at least 3 hours to get diamond on a good day.
How the hell does a diamond come off of a diamond ring?
whoever made it did a shit job at fastening it?
Go find it for her!
Tell her that your father has been cheating on her, so what the ring represents is infidelity and betrayal. 100% guaranteed to make her feel less bad about the ring!
All this fuss over a lump of carbon.
Cubic Zirconia No one has to know!
get a cubic serconium and say that you found it under the bed and assumed that it was from the ring!
Unless she pried it off it's not her fault and if your father gets mad he is a gigantic douche. The sentiment of mutual love is still there in that ring, and it's not like she lost the entire ring by being careless, it's just dumb luck. It's not her fault and she should stop feeling sorry for herself and post a reward at the market.
All this fuss over a lump of carbon.
I know right? That's what I said when I accidentally threw out my great-grandmother's ashes.
Why the hell is this thread dumb? I can see why this could destroy a person. If someone spent 2 grand on you and then you went and lost it you'd feel a bit bad about it too.
