I knew he'd come back.
Why hello there, legends! It has been a mighty long time since I have graced you fine folk with my presence. But worry not, the Jasper drought is officially over. Additionally, Spicy Tornado (http://spicytornado.com/) shall soon rise from the ashes like a post-metamorphosis caterpillar. Now that I am back, I’d like to update you all on my life. As many of you know, I quit my prestigious career with the U.S. Postal Service to pursue my dream of becoming a self-sufficient comic artist. My big brother and I gave up everything to pursue our goal. We put our blood, sweat, mucus and tears into Spicy Tornado. Some Face Punchers thought we were absolutely insane for putting so much of our souls into a website they found repulsive. Others appreciated our work ethic and found our comics to be downright delightful. I struggled with the criticism. The man upstairs knows I found solace in a glass (or three) of Chardonnay more times than I’d like to admit. I tried my best to learn from the negative feedback, but it wasn't easy. In hindsight, I can’t deny that much of the criticism was spot on. My big brother and I took a leap of blind faith when we dove into comic making. We didn’t know everything about the industry, and we still don’t. But despite my overwhelming desire to succeed, I let my demons get the best of me. I spiraled out of control. I lost my way. But, now I’m back. Jasper 2.0 if you will. And as I look to the future, all I can see are rolling hills of greatness. My big brother and I have built Potluck Comics (http://potluckcomics.com/) from the ground up. Our dream of providing a platform for unknown artists has come to fruition. Only problem.. we’re losing money. We could have cluttered our site with homely ads, but we refused. Instead we launched a t-shirt company – http://llamafish.com/ We’ve only sold two shirts so far… and truth be told, one was to our supportive uncle, Rick. But still, we are very excited about LlamaFish and its potential. If any of you fine folk out there legitimately enjoy our selection of shirts, I’d greatly appreciate your support. If not, I appreciate you anyway. In regard to SpicyTornado… the little comic site that could is not dead. It has simply been hibernating like a lethargic marsupial. In the next few days, Spicy Tornado will be back – Better than ever! To the Negative Nathans out there, I want to thank you for giving me the kick in the buttox I needed all those moons ago. I love you all, Jasper 2.0
You aren't very clever at businesses, are you?

I'd love to see SpicyTornado be able to improve. Hopefully your next comic will be an improvement from the fish eating whale feces.
Typically when one business model doesn't produce the intended results, you don't immediately start another one.
It seems as if he's working on the "spend money to make money" model, which in my experience, ends up fairly bad. Honestly, he's doing more than most of us can say we've done. I personally know I've tried 2 business ventures, and failed at both. One was because my partner was cooking the books, the other was because the place burned down (a bakery, different story for a different day). It's hard to get started. When you really feel like you have a passion for something, you've pretty much got to give up everything you have now and make that the focal point of your life. My first business venture was a lawn care business. While you may think it's a generic idea, they generally provide a lot of money, given you have a good reputation (we did), and you're willing to work with the customer. My business partner, who used to be a very close friend, was stealing large amounts of money. Now, when you start a business, you generally need a loan from a bank to cover licensing, startup costs, equipment, etc. Lawn care equipment is very expensive, that is if you want to get reliable equipment that works perfect. Most banks will appoint you to a financial adviser and accountant who will handle the majority of you bill payments to the bank. I get a call one day from my accoutnant, saying that a large chunk of money ($25,000) has turned up missing. It was reported, but when they went to our account to get the money, it was gone. Needless to say, my partner moved to Florida, never to be seen or heard from again. I couldn't come up with enough money, so we were shut down, bankruptcy, the whole dance. 10 people lost their jobs, and I'm still paying off debts. Generally internet ventures are cheaper because you've only really got to put up your web hosting / domain costs, plus whatever physical goods need to be produced. Good luck. While many people here will be critical and assume you will fail, at least you're trying. You're young, you've still got time to fuck up at least a dozen more times.
-snip-
Holy shit, the one and only Spicy, is here, but uh, if you didn't draw when you left Spicytornado's, do not bother making comics for it, since it will be the same drawings. This is coming from some who actually draws himself, if you do not draw for months after the last drawing, it turns to be more shit.
You are letting people submit their work for a 'shot at $300'. In the event that a submitted comic becomes incredibly popular and earns you thousands of dollars (however unlikely), as well as site recognition and further stability for your business, does this seem fair? What I'm saying is it isn't a good idea to crowdsource content for your site unless you're willing to share your revenue.
Looking through it, the comics on Potluck are actually pretty enjoyable. I like the idea of different one-off comics by different people.
I don't suppose you're looking to consult a financial advisor any time soon, would you?

I actually meant spending repetition, forgot to edit my post, was dead tired last night. I apologize. Also, had a good laugh at this:

Am I the only one that reads Jasper's posts in the voice of Edd from Ed, Edd, n Eddy?
I hate to admit, this made me smile.
too bad its a stolen joke

Why not?
um because it's confusing and makes a story harder to understand if you cant identify characters
um because it's confusing and makes a story harder to understand if you cant identify characters
it's a metaphor for how we are all the same people underneath regardless of our money and our position in society and all that
Oh god, every single comic is a different style
Yes some are terrible and some are pretty funny. Then there's those stupid ones that are funny. Reminds me of this guys work:
Despite the fact that most of the SpicyTornado comics were pretty bad, I have an overwhelming and unexplainable desire for Jasper and his brother to become successful.
Samesies.
Why is this thread still alive??
Well, Mr.SpicyTornado? Any ETA on the upcoming comic? *waiting in anticipation*
hah this reminds me of the Facepunch comic collab And we all know how it ended, don't we?

Thank you all for warmly welcoming me back. I've certainly missed the Facepunch Community and all it's fine residents. Some of you question my business sense. That is fine and dandy, but I just want to create and share content that the world can enjoy. If I am able to make a buck from following my passion, I'll be the most jovial chap on this here spinning sphere of ice us we call earth. If I fail, there's always panhandling and street performing. But seriously, My big brother and I have jumped in the river of glory and we'll keep swimming no matter which direction the current takes. We will keep learning. We will keep trying. We will wake up everyday and give it our all. Unless one of us drowns. Then it was all in vain. Fortunately, we're known to be quite the swimmers. I apologize if my words lean a bit toward the bizarre. I'm two glasses of Chardonnay in and I feel like absolutely anything is possible. With love, Jasper
