I can understand why they spell 'mum' as 'mom' because it fits their accent
However why they took out the 'u' out of many words and switched the e and r in words like 'centre' or 'metre' is beyond me.
It's also sad to see yanks moan at us for being wrong when all the other English-speaking countries in the world use British spelling (Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa etc.).
Oh yeah, and it's pronounced 'zed', not 'zee', arseholes.
Also, the flag in the OP is upside-down
i agree with everything there, but arseholes is just retarded. arrrsss arrrsss arrrsss

My history teacher in 8th grade told us that we changed the way we said things on purpose, because we were so angry at the British? Even then I was laughing, because I knew how fucking stupid she was. I mean, this is the same stupid bitch that said Iceland really is this big:

Why is a woman like that teaching history?
Shouldn't she be learning geography or something.

She shouldn't be teaching either, because everything she said was wrong.

stop watching youtube videos and taking them as fact
americans are stupid but most of us aren't that dumb, we say couldn't care less
god there's so much idiotic generalization going on in here, it's ridiculous

Agreed. Sometimes I'm ashamed to be American because of other Americans and how stupid they make us look, but I also do get mad when people generalize so much like that. Although most of the time it's true and I don't blame them. It truly is easy to stereotype people.

Those British people don't know how to speak their own language.

see but that's the thing; in this instance, it's not true. Obviously the idiots are the ones that stand out, and those are the ones the world sees
you'd think that the rest of the liberal west with their mindset of not stereotyping would realize that most americans aren't grade school dropouts

Surely you mean idiotic generalisation?

Fuck, I knew that too, lol. She actually did call it Iceland, too. I sound like a bullshitter now, though.

It looks more phonetically correct (though English is all over the place so it makes no real difference).
E.g. trebled, saying 'tre' as in 'ter', sounds a bit wrong. Makes it fit with all the other -er nouns, like printer and so on. As opposed to printre.
There's no right language and neither is better or worse.

a good read
Most Americans pronounce things phonetically correct, as opposed to the self righteous British pricks who butcher pronunciations and justify it by claiming they invented English.
English is a shitty language anyways.

Or, y'know, it just follows a set of rules with a few exceptions?
Makes it much easier to get the flow of the language.
Iran:

like center and centre or theatre and theater

What the shit are you talking about son.
I only know Americans say could care less because I've seen it written here countless times.
I don't get why those damned red coats say centre, do you pronounce it (sen-tree)? like it's spelled or do you say it like center.
Same thing with theatre/theater.

The E tells you to make the R a softer sound, as opposed to going "Sent-ar" (harsh R) you go "Sent-r". (soft R)
I chatted with an American so much he adopted British spelling from habit and when he did an essay for school he pissed off the teacher because it used British spelling.
Americans fucked up the correct spelling and pronounce everything and spell things like retarded downs children.
