i had a pair of vans that lasted two months before developing holes in the insoles ergo i stopped buying vans [editline]15th October 2013[/editline] my purcells feel waaaaaaaaay more substantial
Percells are more substantial than any chuck or pair of vans I've owned. I love my percells that I've had. Now Purcells from a few years ago were a lot nicer, they've since cheapened them a bit, a lower quality insole compared to the original, and an overall cheaping, no more logo on the tounge but they are still nicer than chucks I'd wager. [editline]15th October 2013[/editline]
How is Urban Outfitters as a store? One just opened in my city, and I've been meaning to check it out.
It's a good store overall. Their plain underwear is the best I've ever gotten.
pretty sure the ceo of urban outfitters donated profits to mike huckabee, so it's not my favorite place
pretty sure the ceo of urban outfitters donated profits to mike huckabee, so it's not my favorite place
It's not the kind of store I'd expect to be remotely republican in nature... Well, aside from the hideous American flag cutoff shirts.
Alright then, how are the Urban Outfitters?
It was $15 for two pairs (the white and red ones), so the materials are about what you'd expect quality wise (thin, cheap-feeling, and poorly stitched). They haven't fallen apart in the ~6 months I've had them, though, which is kinda surprising.
It's not the kind of store I'd expect to be remotely republican in nature...
yeah this claim came as a surprise to me. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Hayne looks like it's not true though
How is Urban Outfitters as a store? My cousin still wears my late great uncle's Chucks All-Stars... The style hasn't changed a lot since the 70s, I guess. To be clear, my great uncle wore them once, and then shoved them in a closet... Like most of his shoes. Seriously, we sold a lot of shoes at the estate sale. Most of them still had the silica packets and paper fillings.
Are those keds? If they are, how do you like them? [editline]October 15th 2013[/editline] Quality wise, compared to vans.
I've got a pair of Keds, just the plain black ones. They're far better than any pair of Vans I've ever owned. The plastic rivets and aglets and such on Vans are replaced by metal on Keds, and I'd reckon they're even a bit more comfortable. I've only had them for like a month and a half, but the white trim around the front hasn't got any of that peeling/warping that happens to plimsolls so I think that's pretty good. I also got them for $5 off so it was totally worth it. I've also owned the $16 UO plimsolls and I will never put my feet in them again.

Yeah I've got a pair of black vans that I paid like 50-55 bucks for and they've been through hell but still look good/new
I got a pair of vans and the rubber is softer than warm butter, and the rubber siding is separated almost completely unglued. It only took about two months of use. Terrible build quality. I have to keep them together with shoe glue and caulk.
why bother keeping them together? learn your lesson and dont buy another pair of vans
It's all about walking style and how you wear your shoes down. Some walking styles put more wear on the insides of the toe section of the shoe and can cause that kind of separation you're talking about, other styles of walking that are heavy on the heel have a different wear pattern that is usually more conducive to a long life of the shoe.
surely your walking style would be the same in every shoe though? [editline]16th October 2013[/editline] i mean if my converse and vans last hugely different amounts of time in the same walking style
Oh good it's more of this discussion already
only thing worse than a dumb discussion is making a post about how dumb you think it is countless times
ok lets get another discussion then any new hip haircuts out there or is everyone still getting HYs in other parts of the world too?
I know nothing of haircuts. Mine could best be described as a cross between DiCaprio and a mullet.
surely your walking style would be the same in every shoe though? [editline]16th October 2013[/editline] i mean if my converse and vans last hugely different amounts of time in the same walking style
Yeah, it is the same across all the shoes you wear, it's simply your anatomy. But what is different is the way a shoe is constructed. It could be bonded together in a way that causes it to fall apart quickly if your heavier on the outside toe areas compared to the heel.
I'm really heavy on my heels, my vans always gets holes there.
I need to know what kind of trainers to buy as my authentics are on their way out, thing is, im 20 and im in college surrounded by 16 years so i'd also like some suggestions on what i should and shouldn't wear in order to stand out and look more mature. at the moment im wearing jeans that a dark blue and are pretty fucking skinny (i think they're meant to be slim fit) and a green hoody from republic that makes me look like a twat which gives me a good reason not to let my girlfriend pick out my clothes.
Is it normal for 16 year olds to go to college in the UK?
welp here we go again, college=/=university in the uk.
Is it normal for 16 year olds to go to college in the UK?
primary school til 11 high school til 16 college til 18, college was optional until this year
So your college is our Senior High... Okay.
To look more mature simply stop wearing things with logos plastered all over them (Not saying that's what you wear, just speaking in generalities). That's step one. The rest depends on your individual style. I wonder if it is that teenagers and young adults often don't know what real quality is, so often they can't appreciate something that is well put together and obviously nice without it saying in big letters "I paid $80 for this hoody." Or "No I'm not poor and boring, this isn't a generic black Tshirt (even though it is), you can see it isn't because of the big 12" North Face logo screenprinted on the front, see?"
The only thing I own with logos on it is a grey polyester Puma golf shirt... And I got it for $15.
Nooooo Asos sent me the wrong sized hoodie, it's gonna take at least 3 weeks before I get my hands on the right sized one :(
No wait, gave it to my dad since he liked it. He has never looked better!

What are your opinions on letterman jackets? I've been thinking about going as Jacket from Hotline Miami for halloween, and was going to get this jacket. I don't want to buy the jacket to only use it once. I think I might be able to pull it off, but I don't want to spend $40 to try it on once.
