I see people wearing suits on campus daily... Even freshmen.
They're all Business majors, though. So, I guess you could probably pull it off if you're a business major on a college campus. Anywhere outside of that is highly situational.
Wearing a suit because you are a business major sounds tryhard.
Nope. Mandatory.
Seriously, my university's College of Business has a dress code. Polos and Khakis, and suits. Same for the College of Political Science.
I don't see how you can find suits comfortable
what are some cheaper alternatives to these guys?
anyone?
Kinda curious what the thread thinks of wearing suits in everyday situations instead of during events (and, well, as well as events, but you get my point).
Don't do it. Unless you live in NYC or some shit like that where the fashion scene ranges from looking like a hobo to men's in the sharpest suit with NB. So..... unless you live in NYC don't do it.

I dunno, it's the inside fabric. It's just insanely soft, I love it.

Well, Stockholm, seeing people with suits isn't very uncommon v:v:v

Finally someone who agrees with me
I find suits really comfortable
[editline]25th October 2013[/editline]
Although, I usually just wear a blazer, button up shirt and jeans
Sadly there's plenty of stuff that is sorta limited by age, suits being one of them. You definitely have to be older to even think about pulling off suits in more casual situations, and even then you're better off with a blazer rather than the whole thing.

There was this one guy I knew in high school who grew a full beard and always wore a suit to class. Admittedly, he did most stuff right- he was always matching, his facial hair didn't look too bad, etc etc, but the fact that he was 16-18 and dressed like he was 30 is what made him look ridiculous. It didn't matter that he did it well, he just looked like a tryhard.
was going to buy new jacket for this autumn/winter

is it an ok shirt
looks like a sweater. But it's not bad
for some reason it seems like the fit would be weird
the armholes look huge in that picture
The shirt itself looks fine. I think the only concern is the fit and everything.
I'm not sure why my university's dress codes are dumb, but whatever...
Anyway, I just had a shirt like that. Returned it because it didn't fit quite right... The shirt bit was a whole three inches shorter than the sleeves.
Pretty sure that was just a fluke, though.

Because you presumably look like a load of wankers I guess

Not all of us, just the business and polsci students!
The rest of us can wear whatever we want. Today, I wore a sweatshirt and a cardigan. It was cold.

what is the most versatile belt color if one exists? i don't own any belts as of yet and i've never needed them, but at the rate my waist is shrinking i think you'll have to measure my torso in planck lengths by next month
dark brown

The Carhartt state jacket in Navy is similar

dark brown or black
dark brown it is then. i'm gonna assume that i should stay clear of any weird looking buckles and dumb braided shit
that is correct
This goes for the belt and everything else. If you dont have the basics covered, you shouldnt buy more complex stuff
When looking at leather belts, shoes, or watches, black and brown are the 2 standard go-to colors. But many people (myself included) find that black looks more formal and dressy than brown. To that end, I would recommend a brown belt. I have a light brown belt and a dark brown belt I wear almost every day and they are incredibly versatile, they look good with just jeans and a T-shirt or with a tucked in shirt/tie outfit.
And if you really wanna get fancy with it, get a belt with a buckle that matches any other metal on your outfit (IE, wear a belt with a brass/gold colored buckle if you've got a gold watch or tie bar, or if you're wearing a jacket with brass buttons or a brass zipper)
i don't own any belts as of yet and i've never needed them
imho a belt is something everyone should wear. A lot of my pants don't need belts, but I think a belt always looks better than no belt so I never leave in the morning without one on. You said your waist size is shrinking, if it shrinks too much you might want to consider getting some new pants. Don't try to use a belt to hold up pants that are way too big for you
Also, what do you guys think of Ivy League fashion?

It's the best comparison to how I dress, although I don't look like such a douchebag. Button downs, knit ties, slim fitting sweaters and cardigans, leather shoes, that stuff. Think Banana Republic and J. Crew. I know a lot of people here lean more towards streetwear, but everyone was putting down suits a while back and I felt that this was worth mentioning. I mean I still wear a tie almost every day and blazers and stuff, but I don't look super formal like some freshman business major or some kid at a bar mitzvah.
Some people can pull off the look well, but it usually comes off as very contrived. I don't wear anything of the sort unless I'm required to.
