Fix Up! Look Sharp v9: Winged shoes don't make you look fly
anything that isn't cheap running shoes
They weren't actually cheap when I bought them over the summer. They were $120. But what would you recommend? Remember, it's got to hold up to me running a marathon every single week.
So... Have we established I'm both ugly and have no sense of style, then?
Let's go about fixing that sense of style, because I'm sure as hell not getting any prettier. You've seen what I look like, what would you recommend I buy for winter wear? I'm actually interested in opinions this time, but let's try to keep it to clothes... I figure I've got a budget of $100, $200 if I stretch it.
So tell me, people, what looks good?
You look fine dude. I guess just shave the stache and beard and get a decent haircut. Working out will make you feel good if you're really not confident about yourself. You're not ugly. Get simple clothing with no shitty logos and stupid epaulets on the shoulders. For winter wear, you can't really go wrong with a grey v-neck or crew neck sweater. Plain but it's warm and looks nice. Might as well get a peacoat if you haven't gotten one already. But under $100-200, I would just go get a nice peacoat. It'll keep you warm and look pretty good.

oh if you're talking about shoes, just get like boots or some shit. Or if you really want some running shoes that kinda don't look that bad and isn't that expensive, get some Nikes.

Around this time of year I tend to wear a parka, jeans, knitted sweater and boots. As do most people. I'm actually looking for new parka this year and what this model is wearing is exactly the same as what I wear.

note the lack of hideous trainers

I agree with this too, apologies if it looked like any of us were implying you were ugly or badly dressed - you aren't. We're just giving a little bit of advice. You should look at coats other than peacoats too. In all honesty if you just get some nice jeans and shoes along with a few nice jumpers/t-shirts and a good coat you can't go far wrong.

You know, I've actually got last year's black peacoat sitting in the closet. Still fits. I'll look into the shoes and the sweater, JCP's having a 50% off sale for most of their sweaters right now. I'll head up to Timberland and pick up some boots soon.
Getting a haircut this weekend, so maybe that'll help things. Might shave, or at least get rid of the stache. We'll see.
And I do have full access to the university's athletics center... I could start exercising once my classes thin out a bit.

The tight fitting cardigan makes you look really thin. In my opinion cardigans are pretty horrible and I'd recommend ditching it. Other than that you look fine, there isn't really much to comment on.

You can always get flannel/collared shirts with some nice patterns that goes well with your peacoat.
I'm a bit ehhh on the whole Timberland boots craze. They seem to be popping up everywhere now and seemed to be fashionable again. I've seen it worn well but personally I think it ain't for me. Unless it isn't those normal yellow Timberlands. Just go see how it works with you.
If you don't mind starting to count calories now, it'll help once your into your workout routine. Just start eating a bit more healthy or just basically eat below your calorie maintenance. Check out the Witness the Fitness forum or 4chan's /fit/ or r/fitness. I personally think the OP should get like a link to , at least, to Witness the Fitness. Losing weight really helps in fixing up and looking sharp.

Check out the white JCP brand "Army Trainers" while you're there - really hard to go wrong with white GATs as your first "real" pair of sneakers. I'm not really sure about the quality or how they look IRL though, there's very little info on them.
Also, if you're looking into Timberland's boots, then get something from the Earthkeepers collection. They look much, much cleaner and are better suited to casual wear.
where do you guys get good looking parkas at
i want a parka now, my only thick winter coat is a pea coat that i still need to get altered because it fits poorly
Uniqlo has pretty good looking parkas and they're pretty cheap too! Someone earlier in the thread got one from there I think.
http://www.uniqlo.com/us/store/lifewear/men-mountain-parka/079750-58?ref=mens-clothing%2Fmens-outerwear%2Fmens-jackets-and-coats
I've been looking around Uniqlo and I've been wanting to get a duffle coat. Still a bit iffy ordering online, maybe I'll try to find one irl first and see how they look before.
i have a problem with all coats though, and that is that almost no coats ever fit me because i have longer than average arms. either that or longer than average legs and a small torso. either way, it makes it very difficult to find coats that fit me because generally the midsection of a coat is longer than the sleeves

if you'll excuse the ms paint illustration, you can see what i mean. if i get a coat with the right length in my long arms, the midsection goes down much too far. if i get a coat that fits right in the midsection, the arms tend to be much too short. i don't really know how to fix this other than getting my coats tailored
May as well just do the one on the far left
that's without a coat
Thought it was buck naked but that works too
am i doing it right
pants are too big
i suppose, then, my options are either to get every coat tailored or to just get coats with longer sleeves than midsections, like bomber jackets.

i really like this, but why is it so goddamn expensive

if u are on a fashion hunt, why are u going to those stores
[editline]2nd November 2013[/editline]
first of all they suck thats a given, second u clearly like them and know their stuff so it wont be much of a hunt, thirdly you are not black, no matter how much u wish u were, and lastly if you wanted to do a real hunt you would look around much more obscure places or op/thrift shops
if u are on a fashion hunt, why are u going to those stores
calm down grampa

I don't. It just looks stupid and is a clear sign that the pants are too big/don't fit.

I thought you were a regular of this thread? How you've managed to read this thread for x amount of time and not realise that you're wearing the ugliest pair of shoes on the planet I have no idea.
Are you thinking of wololo? Isn't woolio1 the guy with the dodgy hair who started posting here a couple of days ago
That shit really only applies to this thread. Like in real life, no one gives a fuck! And if they do, they're either a real asshole to go up to someone and tell them "THOSE SHOES ARE FUCKING UGLY!" unless they're your friends that you usually converse ~fAsHun~ with.
Having said that, those shoes are still fucking ugly as fuuuuck. But if it's that comfy, i guess wear them?? But I'm p sure there's shoes that are as comfy and aesthetically pleasing.
It's not about being TOLD your clothes are ugly. You dress well so you can walk down the street and feel good about yourself
Idk about you but I always look at people's clothes. I appreciate when they do it right and on the flip side I always notice if someone's wearing horrible runners or something.
When you see someone you don't know for example, your first impression is made up entirely on clothes/hair/grooming. It's a primary factor for self respect/self confidence/being an attractive human being etc etc
Pretty sure people in real life give a fuck, or the wouldn't be a thread for it

ah yeah the bald guy
[editline]2nd November 2013[/editline]
wasn't he the guy with all kinds of insane shit scribbled on his wall? does he post anymore? i fear for his health
I don't remember scribbles but he had a fucking weird house
He pops up very occasionally, his main got unbanned so he doesn't use wololo anymore. Can't remember what his main is

You're right. I think it would be better to dress well rather than not. But self-confidence can really carry any ridiculous outfit if you just don't give a fuck... But then you only get self-confidence when you know you dress well. After I've been in this thread awhile, I started to just wear more clothes that I like for myself, since somewhere someone out there will hate what I'm wearing regardless if it's horrible runners or some chucks, so might as well wear what I like and want on my body.

Motherfucking WOOOOOOW
What colognes do you guys wear if you wear anything?
Currently I'm wearing Taylor of Old Bond Street Jermyn St Collection. Pretty off the wall stuff that I got when I was investing into my shaving supplies. I'm thinking of ordering some Acqua di parma Colonia and Bleu De Chanel after reading up on the basenotes forum. If I can't make it to a Sephora I'm debating ordering blind from Nordstroms since they have a unbeatable return policy.
I wear these hideous monstrosities. Every day.

Saucony do some nice looking shoes, they're p big in the sneakerworld, so you can have nice looking shoes that are still comfy and hold up well
