i dunno last time i got new pants and wore them, some levis 511s (slim), my friend was saying omg you finally got skinny jeans and i was like nop might depend on the pants i have, i have 2 pair from h&m, a pair of levis, and some chinos, i just recycle wearing all of those [editline]15th November 2013[/editline] maybe i will try skinny one day
my h&m jeans that i wear to work are super super skinny like girl jeans skinny, but it's ok because it looks fine on me and ive noticed plenty of other guys wear jeans just as skinny as that and it looks fine on most of them too. get some levis 510's and psot a pic im sure its fine
i will get more clothes when i get back to america, levis are revered here (switzerland). i got mine for 40 back in the states, the same pair here is like 120, and the currencies have roughly the same exchange rate lol also, picked these up in belgium for only 55 euro, down from 120. very happy with them so far, received a lot of compliments
ive found that levis are revered almost everywhere, except america, where theyre the cheapest
The slim fits I wear most are almost skinny anyway, switching to skinny jeans won't be a big leap anyway. Actually I think I'll go check out some shops today, got nothing else to do anyway. Black stretch denim skinny jeans would be nice.
speaking of boot compliments when i was waiting at the fish and chip store the lady next to me lent over and said 'sorry, but WHERE did you get those boots?' 'internet, they're stacy adam's madisons' 'they are beautiful, i will have to tell my son'. was wearing the brown pair. then a retarded and fat lady told me i was almost too skinny. so rude [editline]15th November 2013[/editline]
The slim fits I wear most are almost skinny anyway, switching to skinny jeans won't be a big leap anyway. Almost all my jeans are girl jeans skinny, feels/looks good. I really want some Levi's like these: I can't find them anywhere...
they just look like black skinny stretch fit [editline]15th November 2013[/editline] also store pictures of super skinny jeans always look silly because its focusing just on the lower half. they would look so much more normal if the whole man was in the picture.
also store pictures of super skinny jeans always look silly because its focusing just on the lower half. they would look so much more normal if the whole man was in the picture.
+ it would look better if the model wasn't wearing 100% black converse with 100% black jeans
The only people I see wearing skinny jeans in my corner of Tennessee are girls and gay men. Not sure if that says something.
The only people I see wearing skinny jeans in my corner of Tennessee are girls and gay men. Not sure if that says something.
so leave tennessee already gosh what is this the complain about my states backwards fashion and never do anything about it thread
so leave tennessee already gosh what is this the complain about my states backwards fashion and never do anything about it thread
I'm not sure if that's a joke, or you're just entirely out of touch with reality. Either way, you're completely insufferable.
or maybe it just gets a little old if you keep saying 'no suggestion or piece of advice in this thread is valid for me because of where i live' like, i dunno what we can do for you mate if that's the case.
go to nashville or something
The only people I see wearing skinny jeans in my corner of Tennessee are girls and gay men. Not sure if that says something.
Maybe because fashion in Tennessee is wearing something like this? :v:
ok obviously you're not gonna move to another city just because of fashion, but surely it's not THAT bad where you live i mean, i lived in this really small and really conservative town in NC but i still saw people with different styles all the time sure, there were rednecks that wore baggy pants and camo jackets and thought that looking in the mirror for over 3 seconds would instantly change your sexuality, but that didnt mean i couldnt get away with what i wore
yeah honestly i don't see any reason you can't dress differently to everyone else where you live as long as you look good.
Rusty, I'd like to point out something. You've heard the terms East and West Coast Fashion, haven't you? Have you ever given any thought to what they really mean, though? They mean, on a fundamental level, that style is both regional and individual. They mean that things are different from city to city, coast to coast, country to country, etc. And that's one of the problems I find here, and at /r/mfa, and /fa/, and several of the forums I've frequented in the past, is that nobody actually takes this into consideration. Now, I won't discredit everything you've said. I've shaved, I've gotten a haircut, I've bought less ridiculous clothes by your suggestion, and I genuinely think they've made me look a bit better. However, skinny jeans wouldn't fly here, and they wouldn't fly for me. And the same can be applied to some of your other suggestions. But, on a broader scale, these places present a homogenized, concentrated, corporatized, and very narrow view of the wide spectrum of fashionable clothing. And there's nothing wrong with that, but these regional and individual considerations must be made for these places to have a greater impact. I've spent a while here, studying responses, gauging opinions, listening to everyone's views. These are the things I've noticed, and the clearest differences between here and, say, Esquire's guides to regional fashion. But these are also things I've noticed when I take trips to Atlanta, to Chattanooga, to Asheville, to the Keys, is that people dress differently everywhere. I've also noticed this on campus, with people dressing in their region's style. And there's nothing wrong with any of that! It's actually pretty fantastic, from a cultural position, and we see a lot of that diversity here. And we attack it. Like dogs, we strip the flesh from it, promoting our homogenized, groupthink view on it. And even I'm guilty of this, and so are you, and so are we all. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with criticism, but how we project that criticism is important. Such regional variances, as well as individual variances, should be considered, and not only considered, but should form the basis for our criticism. I genuinely think you've helped me, Rusty, in figuring out what works for me. I also think you haven't, that some of your suggestions aren't quite so valid. And the same goes for everyone here. There's nothing wrong with being clean-shaven, there's nothing wrong with a haircut, there's really nothing wrong with most of your clothing suggestions, and most of them are infinitely better than what I accomplish when shopping on my own... As we have seen. At the same time, not everyone should wear skinny jeans, or western shirts, or canvas shoes. Some consideration needs to be given to individuality. I do apologize for how ranty this seems. I hadn't intended to make it so long, so droning, but it just sort of happened that way. Hopefully there's something here that makes sense, that's acceptable, that's not just ridiculous babbling and unrestrained thought. And yes, I can confirm we all wear overalls with the stomachs cut out to show off our beer bellies. It's ceremonial dress, and forms the backbone of most of our religious customs and mating rituals. Ain't nothin' better 'n that for drunken intrafamilial redneck orgies. And now that I've implanted that image into your heads, I'm going to stop talking. [editline]15th November 2013[/editline]
go to nashville or something
Cowboy boots, flannel, and rhinestones! I like it.
i think you should stop being a pussy and just wear skinny jeans
i think you should stop being a pussy and just wear skinny jeans
And then everyone can see my massive calves. They'd go well with the stomachless overalls... But seriously, I'll be making some alterations to my closet soon. The bootcut jeans will go, the boots will go (and I will be buying canvas shoes, I guess), most of my ridiculous shirts will go, and I'll be buying some decent flannel and other collared shirts this weekend. I'm keeping my straight fit jeans, though. And my cardigan. And my trainers, if only so I have some shoes to wear when I go running.
i understand that you're aprehensive, but honestly, id say give it a try, thats all. you dont have to jump in right away if you dont want to i guess, but go to a store and try some skinny jeans on, maybe?
IMO Slim fit jeans are the absolute best of both worlds. They ones above are probably more skinny than slim but w/e

[editline]15th November 2013[/editline] i've got three other pairs of slim fit jeans/chinos which unfortunately are a bit too loose. damn you different manufacturers with varying sizes!
fuckin love my slim fits
I get skinny jeans because I'm an angsty teenager
Black skinny jeans are the best
I was looking at these in the store, but they didn't have my size in stock. should I pick up a pair? I think 511's are the best of both worlds, technically still skinny jeans, just not 'super skinny' like the 510's. On a more interesting note, what would you do about a roommate who totally decides to steal your style, buy the exact same clothes as you and even change into extremely similar clothing when going to the same fucking class. My room mate even went so far as to see that I bought 5 pair of levis from the store, and two days later he got his parents to give him money and he went out to the same store and bought the same fucking 5 pair, same fit, color and everything. I buy white tshirts, he buys white tshirts, I buy a Henley, he buys a Henley, I buy leather boots, he bought black leather boots. It's insane, It's hurting out friendship and he doesn't seem to think there is anything wrong with looking just like me. He even got his hair cut 'similar' to mine after having long hair for the last 5 years. He used to not give one fuck about clothing and wore the same pair of jeans every day for a year, now in the last two months he is straight up copying me. He made fun of my trucker jacket two months ago when I got it, and just two days ago he comes back from lunch with his parents and apparently they went shopping and got him a very similar levis jacket. Mind you, he's 23. It's freaking bonkers, and it's a situation I've never had to deal with. Girls have the unspoken thing that you don't wear what someone else is wearing, but it doesn't seem like guys do for some reason. The only thing that seems to work is to straight up call him out every time (nearly every day) he dresses like me after seeing what I put on, and then he'll go change into his normal style of some videogame graphic T and chucks. Any of you guys have a similar experience? He even started wearing an old broken watch that doesn't tell time after I started wearing watches just so he could have the same look. Insane.
