Fix Up! Look Sharp v9: Winged shoes don't make you look fly

So, J Crew is selling their non-thinsulate peacoats for some $220 (a hair over 25% off), thinking about picking one up, but I'm curious as to your opinions of thinsulate vs non thinsulate. I always seem to have an excess of body heat (wow that sounded creepy as fuck), so I'm not sure the thinsulate is worth an extra $60. Plus, the M/charcoal size of the thinsulate coat is backordered to January.
Hey guys some of you may remember from a couple months ago when I brought the weather shoes and now I need your opinions on a purchase im thinking about making that im fighting the urge to buy.
Im thinking of dropping 10k on a pair of shoes even though I could afford to spend that kind of money, I rather not. The shoes are called Marty Mcfly's. The shoe is based on the Back to the Future movies and it lights up and is MEGA rare to come by only 1,500 pairs made for the Micheal J. Fox charity. :suicide:

Should I buy them?
I sure hope you mean 10,000 yen or something.
you're talking about spending 10k on a pair of fucking shoes
[editline]23rd November 2013[/editline]
in, say, 10 years, i'm sure you could sell it for a lot more, but really, 10k is a LOT of money, so you better be 100% sure it's not gonna come back and bite you in the ass before that
why the ever loving fuck would you spend 10k on those ugly ass shoes
[editline]23rd November 2013[/editline]
you could buy a car for 10k wtf man

no, that's a terrible idea. i have no idea why you would even consider it.

I've got the medium tall, thinsulate lined peacoat in charcoal. I love it. As far as weight, get the thinsulate, I have a non-lined navy surplus 40L in black and it's not as warm as my J.Crew but the J.crew is most definitely not overly warm, in winter you still need to layer underneath. I wouldn't worry about heat. The lining is very nice, quilted and very comfortable in the sleeves. It's the perfect peacoat in my opinion.

would be a decent idea for the resale value if it was like $300 but for 10K thats just ridiculous
Just ordered my dad's Christmas present. The same no-date rolex submariner Swiss ETA movement replica that I've got. I'm getting him the James Bond Nato strap (or a very similar grey/black one) and a plain black or OD nato strap as well. I think he'll enjoy it. First present I've got him in years. I'm buying my mom of all things an electric wheat grinder for Christmas.
[img_thumb]http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a345/ajackss/Rolex_zpsc2a3c4df.jpg[/img_thumb]
What the strap would look like.
[img_thumb]http://natowatchstrap.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/James-Bond-Nato-Watch-Strap.jpg[/img_thumb]
He used to be a diver, was a certified instructor for a few years, and always wanted a proper dive watch. I got my replica pressure tested in a chamber and it was good to 300 feet, so more than enough for anything we'd do.
My friend found a Rolex Submariner someone threw out. It's most probably an imitation though as the date number doesn't magnify. It looks exactly like the one you're buying except with a steel strap.

Hah, interesting find. Even a garbage rolex rep is still worth $50. The rep I've got and ordering from my dad is a 1/1 replica, even down to the movement. Saphire crystal face, ceramic bezel. All parts except for the hands are interchangeable with genuine which is really awesome.

Hey guys,
So, the regular sized charcoal peacoat I want is out of stock till early January. J Crew also sells a 'tall' variant with longer sleeves and general garment length. How feasible is it to simply order the tall variant and bring it to a tailor?

the whole reason these were so expensive in the first place was because the money went to charity, and you got a cool pair of shoes to go with your donation. buying these resale is kinda stupid I think.
a buy i can get down with :)

also, i wanted to take a better photo of my shoes and stuff, since everyone hated them (but angoose) and i thought the iphone picture didn't do much justice. so i got my brother to snap off a quick one of me in their defense in a fill outfit.

I've seen a pair of these for sale for €1500, genuine pair as well. look harder if you want them.
Even though 1.5k is still a really fucking stupid price for a pair of shoes that is much better.

How tall are you? I wouldn't buy a tall if it didn't fit you. Getting it altered would be a pain, more so than waiting I'd think.
Where can I buy flannel/shirts for a decent price ?
Where can I buy flannel/shirts for a decent price ?
I recommend Woolrich, Filson or L.L. Bean but that's not for everyone. Urban Outfitters has a big selection of affordable stuff.

if you plan on wearing them yeah.. but for something wildly collectable, it's not really that bad.
i collected pokemon when i was like 8 but i didn't spend thousands of dollars on them
