[QUOTE=Ajacks;43068737]I've had a few pair of jeans where that happened. Kept them around for years never wearing them, eventually getting rid of them recently. Try and take them back if you don't like the fit anymore?[/QUOTE]

can someone recommend me a good parka jacket
[QUOTE=TomZa;43069677]can someone recommend me a good parka jacket[/QUOTE]
I've been eying the Woolrich parkas myself recently.

Also, just for anyone thinking about a pair of Redwing 875's I couldn't be happier with them. It's the end of the semester and I've been wearing them since July and they have just have gotten better of time. They for some reason get more attention than I figured they would. I've had half a dozen people on the street ask me what they were/if they were red-wings which has been surprising. I can totally tell that these boots will last a decade or longer, even without getting resoled, which only costs like $75 through red-wing, or something around that.
Here they are new, just a few wears.

Here they are today, after I wiped all the concrete off of them from the days castings.

[QUOTE=FreddiRox!;43067961]It's winter though[/QUOTE]

oh and she went a bit mental and followed like 20k people for attention or something I dunno, that's probably why you follow eachother[/QUOTE]
I don't smoke that much, I just like the hat.
Ah, a lot of people do that on twitter :v:

it seems like you're bandwagoning a little bit, but alright, care to elaborate? why isn't it a nice jersey?

that's a new one. why would I be thinking about when I'm over 20? does that mean I have to wear formal clothing in preparation for the next three + a quarter years? should I stop skating too?
[editline] . [/editline]
you sound kinda like my father, "you're not going to be wearing stupid skatewear and skinny jeans when you're an adult so why bother". like how is that even relevant when I'm in sixth form in my mid-teens?

When I was 16 I wore tight skinnies, skate shirts, trucker hats and Fallen skate shoes and ugly patterned busy hoodies. It wasn't hideous at the time but I wouldn't be caught dead in anything I wore back then. Everything from then has been donated to Goodwill.
I think university life (at least here in the United States) pushes you away from the highschool teenager styles and most people seem to adopt the 'college version' of whatever they were style wise. You can recognize freshmen on campus because they usually dress like highschoolers.

Since you asked, sure:
- Text on clothing is generally tacky and childish. This is no exception.
- Jerseys are not casual wear, even if that's what the designer makes them for. They're for sports and nothing else, like running shoes. Also, you are not on whatever RAISED BY WOLVES sports team
- Artificial distressing never, ever looks good because it shows unrealistic wear patterns. On that shirt, it looks like you've been dragging it behind a truck over gravel or something. That is not usually something done with a shirt!

the thing is none of the clothing I own is wild patterned stuff, it's all quite simple. the only reason i'm being seen as a dumb high schooler is because of the bad picture of the extremely faint pot leaves on a plain black hat. compare me to the weird indie kids with all-over prints of naked jesus babies and stuff on their t-shirts and i won't look all that bad.

I see, well it's just a navy "acid wash" jersey. Again flatspot's pictures must have really high clarity or something (the picture of the plantlife hat was from there too) because I don't see any artificial distressing on it, it's quite matte, the lighter parts on the seams / stitching or whatever it's called is just the dye. the creases are gone from ironing it too.
I'm not really sure how you can say sports wear can't be casual wear though, you'd think all the people wearing nike / adidas shoes would show that.

Jerseys are not the same as sneakers. Sneakers are worn for a ton of physical activities, where as a football jersey is only worn for football. I know it's different in Europe were it seems people wear sports jerseys more as casual wear, but here in the US if you're wearing a football jersey you best be going to a sports bar for a big game or else it just looks sloppy or ghetto.

I generally don't subscribe to the idea of wearing Nike, Adidas, Reebok, etc. sports shoes for casual purposes. More often than not, they'll drag down the overall quality of an outfit rather than add to it - Nike Foamposites, for example, look totally over-designed and give off an immature vibe. I've also noticed that the people who wear them don't care about clothing other than sneakers, so make what you will of that.
I'm from New York, but yeah it's probably different here in the UK. To me it just seems more like a heavyweight t-shirt, as it's a collaboration with flatspot (UK site), the actual Raised By Wolves one has buttons etc like a normal jersey

oh of course, those disgusting running shoes look ridiculous when people are wearing normal clothes with them, this guy walked in today with a pair of black / luminous green adidas shoes with like springs in the sole which he bought for £150, all whilst wearing plain black sweatpants and a slazenger hoodie, I almost cried. I just meant when you see someone wearing like a nike sweatshirt or something, nike is a sports company and stuff.
The jersey design itself doesn't look great anyways.
fair enough, thanks for your opinion.
Just got my dock peacoat in from J Crew. Took a 'risk' and ordered medium, basically fits like a fucking glove. I mean, it could be a little tighter around the stomach, but there's still a good gap between the body and my arms with just enough wrinkle on the bicep (actually it's a bit tight but eh).
also cashmere is a delightful thing on my neck
Even though it took an extra week or so for them to get the right things to me (which actually ended up saving me a hundred bucks whooo 30% coupons), still psyched as hell.
i can't find a good looking hooded parka in small that would be relatively tight fitting
[editline]4th December 2013[/editline]
tight fitting in that parkas are already huge articles of clothing, and to have a loose fitting article of clothing that is also huge looks terrible.
i don't expect it to be compact or anything, just to hug my body instead of being loose and baggy which is compounded by the fact that it is already quite a large coat

Did you end up getting the lined one or the unlined one?
i don't know what you're talking about
if you're referring to when i posted like 3 of them, i only was looking because my parents wanted a christmas list from me so they can pick out a few things for when i visit in a few weeks, but by the time my mom got around to looking, it was already sold out. so now i'm looking again. it's a shame, i really liked that one.
it was this:
[url]http://www.asos.com/ASOS/ASOS-Quilted-Arctic-Parka/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=2965662&cid=12931&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=36&sort=-1&clr=Navy[/url]
also this is sold out in my size too
[url]http://www.wolverine.com/US/en-US/Product.mvc.aspx/20596M/0/Mens/Montgomery-1000-Mile-Boot?dimensions=0[/url]
why the fuck is everything sold out a few weeks before christmas, how are they expecting to sell anything during the christmas shopping rush if everything is sold out
[editline]4th December 2013[/editline]
it's a shame those boots and parka are sold out too because each are the only item like it that i could find. i've looked and looked for similar parkas and shoes but can't find any that look the same for the latter or fit the same as the former
the thing about the coat that i like is that it's not extremely long, it's about as long as the sleeves are. i already have fairly long arms, so it's difficult finding coats that are neither too short in the sleeves nor too long in the torso
[QUOTE=OrkO;43072208]i don't know what you're talking about
[/QUOTE]
Was that directed at me?
By the way those particular Wolverines are china boots. There are other, better made boots in the 1000 mile line, but I guess they would run you more money. The guys really into the 1000 mile series would steer clear of those in favor of the 1000 mile boot, or the toe cap 1000 mile boot, made in the USA, that is from what I've gathered on style forums.
Also it's sold out because of Christmas, a lot of people shop mainly in November for Christmas if they are worried about the stock situation.
oh yeah it was lmao i thought that was a reply to me for some reason v:v:v
[editline]4th December 2013[/editline]
and i just like the way they look, i don't like the way the other 1000 mile boots look
snip.
Just looking at Frye boots on 6pm right now, and the pair of boots I was looking at yesterday is now $60 more expensive today. I seriously don't doubt that they track your IP and raise the price on what you're looking at often to make you feel like you should get it before it goes any higher...feels fishy.

Snagged a non-thinsulate since it was the only one available (the thinsulate charcoal ones aren't even listed on the product page anymore). Works great for me since I don't like being too warm, and this is breathable (I've been 'trying it out' for like half an hour indoors and I don't feel hot at all).
[editline]4th December 2013[/editline]
although for some reason the top lapel wasn't folded when it came in. Gonna have to fire up the iron and fix that.

Glad you like it! Mine has done me great these past three years. Also Peacoats a lot of the time come uncreased so that you can have the collar the way you want. I wear my peacoat with the collar up.

Late-ish reply, but I don't really get the hate for this shirt. It's not really a jersey at all, just a regular t-shirt. I own the same one in black & white and I get a lot of compliments on it whenever I wear it out and I see a lot of people (including teens and people in their mid-20's) wearing stuff like this around where I live.
I guess it's just another one of those things where different styles conflict within this thread.
yeah i actually like it too

and the stuff you said makes it a good t shirt why exactly? getting compliments and the fact that other people wear it doesn't make it fashionable
this has nothing to do with different styles, either. if you consider meaningless numbers plastered over a plain t shirt a good design then your 'style' is pretty bad
[QUOTE=Zukriuchen;43073560]and the stuff you said makes it a good t shirt why exactly? getting compliments and the fact that other people wear it doesn't make it fashionable

I'd consider it pretty fashionable, at least for streetwear. You have to remember there's tons of different styles and different things are considered fashionable for those styles. Personally I find things like peacoats terrible and un-fashionable but if that's someone's style I'd be supportive of it. Just because you aren't a fan of a certain style doesn't mean you should shun it completely and tell people not to wear it, fashion is completely subjective after all (even though there is a general consensus that there are some rules you should typically follow)
Not to mention Raised By Wolves products are typically extremely high quality.
[editline]5th December 2013[/editline]
I just think this thread needs less hate - people need to be more open to peoples ideas of style/fashion :^)
Sure if someone comes here posting terribly fitting jeans and awkward running shoes/etc then you'd help them out and suggest new clothing, but that's because things like those are considered un-fashionable by pretty much everyone and doesn't really fit in with any styles.
what are you even doing
you say it like i shouldnt criticize people's fashion sense because it's their style, then say there's always general rules that should be considered, make up your mind
[editline]5th December 2013[/editline]
yeah sure i know being open is often a good thing, but when you dismiss criticism because of "different styles", then the purpose of the thread is lost
sorry, just woke up & half asleep
What I was trying to say is that streetwear is a pretty well accepted (out side of this thread) and large style at the moment, and within that style that shirt would be considered fashionable.
The only time I ever really see it o.k to tell someone to flat out avoid something or that their choice was terrible is when it's something that isn't generally accepted or considered fashionable by regular people, e.g. fedora's.
[editline]5th December 2013[/editline]
So I guess if someone posts something you dislike because it isn't your style, instead of telling them to avoid it, imo it'd be better to show them something else you think is better, whilst keeping their style in mind???? idk
Sorry, you need to Log In to post a reply to this thread.
