man "relaxed" becomes such a gross word when you say it in the context of jeans
i really don't get all black outfits
what don't you get about them?
I like the look of those boots, what are they/where'd you get them?
allsaints, though personally i'd recommend buying from Buttero or Dayton if you want that style of boot.

nah. there's just a negative connotation from all the people wearing awful, massive jeans with ugly sneakers and a tapout tee. while not for everyone, relaxed fit jeans can be very cool. to make them "fashionable" these days, it usually requires a huge cuff though and a very calculated look.

it works particularly well if you're an older guy or if you want to go with something that's along the lines of japanese streetwear, workwear, or a "vintage" aesthetic that reminds people of old beaten up cars and hippies.. Visvim type stuff.
fuk.co has a lot of nice outfits with looser fit denim.

ehhh that's kinda stretching the definition of "nice"
what don't you get about them?

why people wear them.
they're boring and a safe option. you don't need to worry about colour combos or anything, it's relatively effort free. i'm not saying that you're supposed to dress ballsy, but a little bit of effort is a good thing.

Yeah that looks like something my elderly grandfather would wear tbh

it's not effort free at all. wearing all black allows me to pay more attention to my silhouette and proportions. I don't always wear all black but primarily it's how I like to dress. I also still have to pay attention to textures and varying shades of gray/black. I also don't find it boring- to me, boring is wearing brown boots, raw denim and an oxford cloth button-down underneath a v-neck sweater- or trying to emulate some whimsical tumblr image of a dude standing in the forest wearing moc-toes and a down jacket as he chops wood. (there isn't necessarily anything wrong with those but it is a fairly basic style, definitely the "default fashionable male" aesthetic right now)
no. maybe you should not be so close-minded? other aesthetics that don't line up with your personal preferences are still valid
ehhh that's kinda stretching the definition of "nice"
how so? it's a very well put together outfit, even if it looks "older" than most of the super slim stuff floating around GQ these days.
Yeah that looks like something my elderly grandfather would wear tbh
that is part of the appeal.

idk man, i'm just not really feeling the 1940's-dock-worker-ninja vibes right now
idk man, i'm just not really feeling the 1940's-dock-worker-ninja vibes right now
yeah you're right. it looks far more ridiculous than wearing skintight denim with a pair of Iron Rangers while making spreadsheets, obviously
not sure what your point is, since his jeans are skintight around the thigh and seat. pretty weak joke.
you clearly just dont understand my fashion sense look how majestic he is
there's no congruent idea behind his outfit (unless his goal is to look like andre the giant) whilst all of the outfits i've posted have very definite and obvious ideas behind them, even though they're ideas you disagree with (I even explained what they are in my post, but you chose to ignore it and instead circlejerk over slim-fit denim as if it's objectively superior.)
I've yet to decide if I'm suited to skinny fit jeans. They aren't super tight on my thighs, but they are a bit uncomfortable most of the time, at least at first. They fit perfectly on my calves though.
try tapered denim, something along the lines of Levi's 508s, 513's, etc. Looser in the thigh, but still very slim throughout the calves. On the higher end, a brand like Oni offers some nice tapered denim. Naked and Famous Weird Guy is okay as well, but the seat is a little tight for most people.
yeah you're right. it looks far more ridiculous than wearing skintight denim with a pair of Iron Rangers while making spreadsheets, obviously
it does
it does
I can guarantee you that it doesn't. No matter what you wear it's going to look ridiculous to a bunch of people- I can tell you from experience that just as many people consider it ridiculous looking. It just happens to be "fashionable" in magazines and fashion ads right now.

proof of experience with wearing such outfits. (my jeans are 511's rather than painted on (which I also did), but still.)
you need to be more open-minded. clothing isn't so absolute, it changes on a whim and there is no objective right even though there are many objective technical aspects. it's not even just about "slim fit" or "relaxed fit", these things rely heavily on the wearer's body type and what they're trying to achieve.
What's the shirt's brand? I really like it.
I think it was Club Monaco, it's a plain flannel (very thin for flannel though). It's an alright shirt.

you might want to brush up on your reading comprehension. I did not, at any point, say those two things were the same or honestly even similar. I was demonstrating that I have in the past dressed in tight jeans + "workboots" + buttondowns, and that many people do in fact consider it just as ridiculous as the other outfit. Just as you wrongly associate that outfit with "1940's-dockworker-ninja", many people wrongly associate the other sort of aesthetic with hipsters and the like.
It's a little embarassing that I have to explain subjectivity to you.
why people wear them.

Black is more about textures and the silhouette. I find the outfits you wear to be safe and boring as well(not saying they are bad). Wearing color doesn't require more effort if you stick to conventional colorways.

why do you type like you're writing a high school essay
why do you type like you're writing a high school essay
Because that's the level of reading comprehension appropriate for you.
Why even make this sort of response? Don't you have anything more valuable to say?
Tight jeans can carry negative connotations just like baggy ones, you just happen to think only one is correct rather than understanding the merits of both. I don't understand why you are having difficulty with this.
It's a little embarassing that I have to explain subjectivity to you.
i could say the exact same thing to you
you're free to have your opinion on dressing like uncle vinny who frequently associates with the mob, but you should also acknowledge the fact that your tastes in that regard are in the vast minority, and your coming in here and throwing those hot opinions around is just asking for everyone to disagree with them

mostly because this same stupidass argument has popped up 50 times in these threads

Except that I never dismissed tight jeans, and I am even wearing tight jeans in the outfit I posted on the last page. The difference here is that you're being a prick.
Probably because of cunts like you trying to act like fashion is absolute, and that things like loose jeans are inherently flawed. If you were more open-minded these sorts of arguments probably wouldn't occur (because they don't, on most well-respected fashion forums.)
Except that I never dismissed tight jeans, and I am even wearing tight jeans in the outfit I posted on the last page. The difference here is that you're being a prick.
you're getting awfully hot and bothered about this pal
go ahead and take that outfit to literally any other fashion forum besides r/mfa and see what happens

You never said that. Again, you really need to take a class or something dude- I was saying this because you dismissed loose jeans.

In that case, you're even more clueless. That fit came from fuk.co (which is another fashion forum, lots of raw denim, workwear, visvim, etc) and likely would be well-received on Sufu (superdenim)
http://www.fuk.co.uk/threads/what_are_you_wearing_today_pics_only_and_list_what_you_are_wearing/1205/
It absolutely isn't the sort of thing that would be well-recieved on MFA (But even MFA is better than this thread by the looks of it, which is kind of sad.)
