Wait, have any of you guys seen the movie "Her"?? All of the outfits in that movie were pretty cool retro-futuristic-minimalistic-dadcore clothes that are awesome. Very good style inspo. I actually have a shirt with a band collar like his but I haven't had much luck getting a good outfit out of it.

Maybe this will popularized very high waisted pants for men?? Girls nowadays do it all the time, around my area anyways. Also grey pants. The film made me realize how versatile grey pants are. I need grey pants.
i started a war

Fantastic film, and some of the best clothing I've seen in a movie honestly. Band-collars tend to work better with hardier shirts- chambray lends itself pretty well to band-collars. One notable thing is that nobody seemed to wear belts in that film- which is neat. Thom Browne makes a lot of dressier pants with no belt loops. Acne does it as well.
ok bye
I don't understand how someone who actually takes Lunarcore seriously can be so inept and close-minded.
i don't understand how someone who takes the intellectual high ground has seemingly nothing better to do than whine and cry about outdated fashion in a forum

yeah i cried like 3 times ;___; because it's sad and also the clothes were amazing. I haven't worn my red-pink chambray in awhile and this movie made me want to get it out and wear it again. Maybe I'll wear it when I go see the film again. Cosplay Theo and have my phone bobbypinned to my shirt jacket just for shits and giggles.

Because slim-fit indigo jeans and brown boots are so cutting edge, right?
I don't understand how someone who actually takes Lunarcore seriously can be so inept and close-minded.
i don't take lunarcore seriously, nobody does, it's literally just a color palette and a theme
what am i even being "inept and close-minded" about?
not liking huge pants?
I don't understand Savaril you look good but then you vouch for those hideous baggy jeans and get all upset over them
bizarre
Not only do you not like loose pants, but you seem to actively hate them. Suggesting that they are a viable option should not generate a bunch of people dismissing them as ridiculous.
they aren't a viable option
they are ridiculous
damn straight i actively hate them
[editline]11th January 2014[/editline]
it's like you don't even understand the concept of silhouette as applied to fashion (which huge baggy pants decimate)
I don't understand Savaril you look good but then you vouch for those hideous baggy jeans and get all upset over them

Because they aren't hideous. The reason I look good is because I try to keep my mind open in regards to fashion, otherwise I never would have learned anything. There is nothing wrong with the jeans I posted, they just aren't "trendy" in the mainstream right now. Many people enjoy the aesthetic, it's all about understanding it and putting yourself in the mythos of that particular style of clothing.
In the case of loose jeans, they look very utilitarian and they remind people of a different era- 1940's, manual laborers, miners and artisans. (It's worth noting that current fashion trends are largely based on 1960's styles.)
The sooner you're able to open your mind and try and appreciate alternative styles, the sooner you'll look better. You will have more control over your outfits, a better understanding of what you actually like, and you will be able to make purchases that are less influenced by current trends than they otherwise would have been. You'll also just enjoy more instead of being a hateful bastard.

I hate to tell you this but baggy pants are a huge part of silhouette- they just aren't the same silhouette as slim pants. It is actually kind of ridiculous to me that you'd try and discuss silhouette in the same post as you dismiss baggy pants as not a viable option. Are you familiar with Yohji Yamamoto? Because you really should be if silhouette is the topic.

The silhouette in my outfit earlier (The all-black one) was a basic one, but it was not accidental. I wore a bigger, boxier jacket with tapered pants (The thigh is fairly loose on me, while the leg opening is very tight) and slim boots on purpose.
Because they aren't hideous. The reason I look good is because I try to keep my mind open in regards to fashion, otherwise I never would have learned anything
don't think too highly of your bog-standard 511s/denim jacket/ocbd/dress shoes fit
it's been done a billion times
honestly looking at all of your posts, it seems like you have some ego issues, sport

What the hell are you on about? I never wore dress shoes, a denim jacket or an ocbd in either of the two fits I posted here.

This is also the fit I was referring to. In which I am not wearing any of the items you just mentioned. (I don't consider the other one I posted good. I posted it to demonstrate a point.)

You literally just tried to say that a thing you don't like is objectively bad.

oh my bad you're not wearing a denim jacket and your ocbd isn't oxford cloth
it's still the exact same fucking generic shit that gets slathered everywhere
grow some originality
here we go with the "objectively" shit again
also baggy pants look horrible, tbh
So now that the threads were split into streetwear and the rest, the "dadcore vs supreme" arguments were turned into fucking BAGGY JEANS arguments? Jesus Christ just bring the supreme people back plz
forgot to mention
looks like it's time for another fulsh boss fight

Because copying Poet fits and wearing slim-fit jeans is original, right?
The jeans aren't 511's and the shoes aren't dress shoes either, by the way. So you got 0/4. Congrats.

Here is something a little more original, but you're going to hate it because the pants aren't cutting off the circulation to my feet.
i am so fucking done
it's 4:30 in the morning and i am going to go to sleep
someone please dispose of this nerd
no. maybe you should not be so close-minded? other aesthetics that don't line up with your personal preferences are still valid

nah that just literally looks like a dock working grampa
yeah you're right. it looks far more ridiculous than wearing skintight denim with a pair of Iron Rangers while making spreadsheets, obviously
i don't wear the rangers with those jeans and i don't know where you got spreadsheets from man but thanks for showing you're on the defense
[editline]11th January 2014[/editline]
I can guarantee you that it doesn't. No matter what you wear it's going to look ridiculous to a bunch of people- I can tell you from experience that just as many people consider it ridiculous looking. It just happens to be "fashionable" in magazines and fashion ads right now.

proof of experience with wearing such outfits. (my jeans are 511's rather than painted on (which I also did), but still.)
you need to be more open-minded. clothing isn't so absolute, it changes on a whim and there is no objective right even though there are many objective technical aspects. it's not even just about "slim fit" or "relaxed fit", these things rely heavily on the wearer's body type and what they're trying to achieve.
those jeans are too baggy, there's a nice middle ground to that and skin tight. also did you just make fun of my iron rangers when you literally own a pair?
Savaril please stop arguing with people just because they don't want to dress like a fucking japanese miner from world war 2, thanks
Tight jeans can carry negative connotations just like baggy ones,
to who? you? there are still people who don't like skinny jeans?
they're 511's. They absolutely were not too baggy. They were in fact too tight- I looked like a clown from the side due to the prominent, bulbous Redwing toebox. I wasn't making fun of the fact that you owned them, just the fact that you seem to own them and endorse tight jeans at the same time.
to who? you? there are still people who don't like skinny jeans?
Yes. Plenty of people.
Savaril please stop arguing with people just because they don't want to dress like a fucking japanese miner from world war 2, thanks
There's a difference between not wanting to dress a certain way and dismissing a certain way of dressing (One that's actually thought out and coherent) as invalid and wrong.
I was hoping for open-minded discussion but I guess there's none of that here.
What the hell are you on about? I never wore dress shoes, a denim jacket or an ocbd in either of the two fits I posted here.

those black ones are dress shoes though, just really worn and beat up
why are you having such a fit?
those black ones are dress shoes though, just really worn and beat up

No, they're not. They are sidezip boots. I'm not having a fit, I'm just astonished by how awful and counterproductive the discussion here is.
Yes. Plenty of people.
are they all over 50, apart from you?
No, they're not. They are sidezip boots. I'm not having a fit, I'm just astonished by how awful and counterproductive the discussion here is.
the only difference between many dress shoes and boots is that the boots are longer on the top. it's a meaningless distinction to argue about when your jeans are covering the top
are they all over 50, apart from you?
I don't have a problem with skinny jeans. I wear skinny jeans regularly.
There are plenty that are under the age of 50. If you don't think there aren't young people out there who hate skinny jeans then you probably don't get out much; many people automatically associate skinny jeans with hipsters.

Other differences: The boots are distressed. They have zippers on the sides. They have a workboot-style captoe... They're not dress shoes at all.

I mean I can distress dress shoes too and I don't know if you're aware but heaps of dress shoes have a cap toe, it's like... you just argue for the sake of it. I mean clearly they are boots, thanks for making us aware, but gosh man, they're not that different looking, cool your jets?

I don't know, but now I'm wondering why I'm still posting here since I have discovered that there is no good discussion to be had.
