You see them being pulled off in the context of a fucking sci-fi 90's film. If you wore those here, in the real world, you'd look hilariously out of place. It's like saying that since the characters in Guns of Icarus dress as they do and pull it off, it is okay for me to dress the same way for whatever reason. It's a context issue.
no i see them being pulled off in the context of black skinny chinos and a white sweater do you think i'm some sort of pleb or something

They're not even high fashion or final fantasy material, I wouldn't bat an eyelid at seeing a dude with that outfit in a trendy area. "the real world" isn't whatever backwater you live in

And color works about the same way. You have to be sure you can pull off wearing a brown suit, it's not a thing everyone can do. I can't do it at any rate. Go with either of the gray suits or the navy one. Navy looks good on anybody.
i've been lent three piece suits before from friends and have always loved the way i look in them, but i figure it would be no issue just taking off the vest and turning it into a two piece suit? i don't know about whether i could pull off brown though. i certainly don't see why not, i have an average build, average height, dark brown hair, tan skin. i feel like it would suit me well but then again i'm not sure [editline]27th May 2014[/editline] i guess when i go to actually pick one out in person i'll just have to try brown on and see, but i really love the way they look
Well, if you know you can pull a vest off, go for it. And to see if brown suits you, I'd recommend going to a shop and trying one on. Better safe than sorry.

I have to go to a wedding in 17 days, I need recommendations on how to look good but not underdressed nor overdressed and snazzy. Colour theme of the wedding is Beige and Black. I have neither of the colours. Instead, I have a standard black blazer and complimenting slacks. I also have some beige, tanish chinos. Ties; I have these: [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/ib2qSQf.jpg[/thumb] Dress shirts: [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/DnH2sIF.jpg[/thumb] The left blue is darker than the right blue.

I'm going to assume your blazer and slacks(what color are they?)/khakis fit. Suits are wedding-wear though, and you should really have one. Regardless, all of your ties have navy in them(save for the red one), and none of them will work very well with your black blazer. And the red one is not terribly attractive, either. So, my advice to you, would be; You have time. Get new ties. Also, eliminate your striped shirt and buttondown-collar blue shirt. The other blue one and the white are fine, they just need a tie to compliment them, how about solid grey? [t]http://s7d4.scene7.com/is/image/BrooksBrothers/FA00107_GREY?$bbproductimages$[/t]
What's the ideal way to apply cologne? I'm using Burberry Brit. One spray on the neck? Two on the chest? Wrists? Cheeks? I have no idea right now. Also, how likely is it that its scent will clash with my deodorant? It's a standard Old Spice antiperspirant.
I do one on one wrist, rub my wrists together, then rub it on my neck
I do two on my neck, two on my torso, and one on my wrist and rub wrists together It's not overbearing but it's noticeable

I'll just go for one on the neck-chest region and another for the wrists. I've got myself a prom to go to tomorrow, so I'll be sure to post some pics

i thought rubbing cologne was a big no-no
i thought rubbing cologne was a big no-no
it just makes the scent last shorter.
It changes the smell too, you're meant to pat it.
Either way, I applied my cologne with one to the chest/neck and one to the wrists (rubbed together), and the smell wasn't overpowering, nor was it "unsmellable". My tux looked pretty darn nice, especially with my date's dress. I guess I could post pics tomorrow when everyone uploads them
I think the rule of thumb with cologne or deodorant or any kind of scent is that you should only really smell it if you're properly close to someone, shoulder to shoulder or hugging or similar proximity. You shouldn't be able to smell it from a few feet away, nor get a big whiff of it as you walk past somebody. It should be what you smell like within your own (fairly) intimate zone, not what you noticeably smell like. To tom dick and harry you shouldn't smell of anything.
wearing size small the shoulders are too close to my neck. wearing size medium it generally fits me better, but then the shoulders go out over where they should really sit. shiiiiettttttt
wearing size small the shoulders are too close to my neck. wearing size medium it generally fits me better, but then the shoulders go out over where they should really sit. shiiiiettttttt
i have the opposite. medium fits everywhere but shoulders, large fit on shoulders but not everywhere else.
