Fix Up! Look Sharp v9: Winged shoes don't make you look fly

thanks. I think I'll try a pair of TNT's. One question though, does colour matter? like is there any actual colour code or will black/white shoes go fine with everything else. I have a brown belt and I heard they should match or some shit
those jack purcell shoes look pretty good.

white and black shoes are the most versatile colors in outfits.
however, if you're going to wear a belt, I'd recommend getting another type of shoe later on, like some boots or loafers. sneakers are super-casual, so you usually wouldn't wear a belt with them.
a belt and shoe should be within two shades the same color, so wearing a brown belt + white shoes or brown belt + black shoes will look pretty weird.

so just no belt then?
[QUOTE=Lurklet;45533612]thanks. this sight is pretty good. but being indiecidsve as I am, it's still a bit difficult figunring out what shoes I want, I need shoe reccomendatiens. TNT 5's seem alright. Should I get those? Should I just find a decent shoe at the top lists on this SVPPLY site and get that?

[QUOTE=Lurklet;45534182]so just no belt then?[/QUOTE]
there [I]are[/I] some exceptions, but with sneakers, it's just better off to not wear a belt.
[QUOTE=Lurklet;45530708]if you're asking for a style I'm looking for then all I can really say is I just want to look regular. I don't want to look like a hobo, I don't want to look like I have a job (I don't and by that I mean fancy work clothes that imply you have a job) I just want to look like a regular, relaxed, 19 year old. The links I posted are kind of suggestions. the shoes I don't really know if they look retarded or not it's something I need outsider opinion on.[/quote]
just look for clothes that fit well. slim fit jeans (you don't have to buy skinny ones unless you want to), shirts that don't make you look like you're about to release a new mixtape, etc etc. also:
stay away from shorts. if its way too hot and you cant stand not wearing them, just don't get baggy ones, or anything with too many pockets on it
a lot of people dislike graphic t shirts. stay away from joke tees (you don't want to be the oh-so-wacky guy), band tees or tshirts with pop culture references. don't wear them unless they have a legitimately great design.
sports clothes are meant for sports.
socks that are too long look silly.

if you don't think you can match well, just don't do it, but try not to wear conflicting colors either. and if you're too worried about what matches with something, just go with black or grey, they work well with pretty much everything.
i always wear a belt, no matter what shoes or pants i'm wearing.

looks kinda weird at the gym, but w/E

this basically means no cargo shorts, because my god are they ugly. though, I've seen some people rock some slim cargo pants before, but I still wouldn't wear them personally.
went to buy some pens today, accidentally bought a shirt and a pair of shoes. oops.

haven't posted here in awhile, anyways did anyone else like anything from the kanye x A.P.C. collaboration?
I was in love with the airport sweater:
[IMG]http://www.rapwave.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/kanye-west-apc-airport-sweater-white.jpg[/IMG]
its fit seems perfect at least for what i'm looking for, too bad it sold out almost instantly on their online website :/
I was actually really impressed with this collaboration a lot more
weird graphic tees like that can look good if you wear them with a well fitting pair of pants and some nice footwear
if you're some neckbeard in some bootcut jeans + skechers combo then you're gonna look dumb, although chances are you already look dumb

it's a nice sweater but why not just buy one from asos/river island/h&m/topman and pay a fraction of the price?
wow really was that an insult you came with there lol

I actually like a lot of the stuff there, especially the outerwear.
but there were some dumb items too ($105 camo tee, a ski mask (???))

in terms of quality and fit you won't get a sweater quite like that at those places. it's looser in the sleeves, and fits better around the shoulder; also it's longer in the back and shorter in the front, altogether just a great layering piece.
but you're right to an extent, you could get something similar for maybe half the price (I believe this is 280 dollars), a lot of its appeal has to do with its exclusivity i suppose like any other designer piece. I just posted it because I saw a vast improvement in this collection compared to his previous one, I liked the direction he took with this and it was definitely aligned better with the brand itself as opposed to his previous one which leaned too much on the street wear side of things. This felt much more balanced though.

I agree it's a tad bit high, but it's worth it to me. the most bang for your buck item of the collection are probably the jeans though, they're going for not much more than the regularly priced A.P.C. jeans
I lost my glasses at a concert yesterday, was thinking about trying warby parker ones, has anyone used them? is the quality good?

I have a pair of WP (Ames specifically), they're pretty awesome and they didn't cost that much. home try-on was really useful too.
Formal/business attire I can't seem to get my head around. So maybe this thread can help. I normally walk around like this when I have to do something businessy:
[IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/yNzUv0t.jpg?1[/IMG_thumb]
AFAIK having a tie that basically camouflages with your shirt isn't the best idea, so I have started looking into changing things.
I bought a suit jacket (well that or a blazer or whatever, there were no pants with it and the internet says that means it isn't a suit jacket!):
[IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/3nGKWAW.jpg?1[/IMG_thumb]
I think it's kinda cool. (I'm going to be wearing it dressed down occasionally as well as for formal stuff)
Unfortunately other than a blue shirt I bought which is being washed atm, I only have trippy dress shirt like things that make your eyes go crazy and I don't think they go with either my tie or my jacket:
[IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/Ic2Hkmj.jpg?1[/IMG_thumb]
(same shirt and tie as above but with jacket)
[IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/A6iopFh.jpg?1[/IMG_thumb]
(same tie but different trippy shirt)
[IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/QGabQJm.jpg?1[/IMG_thumb]
(same shirt as the last picture but no tie)
The second shirt for reference with and without tie:
[IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/WoVzR0N.jpg?1[/IMG_thumb]
[IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/D9KMNVD.jpg?1[/IMG_thumb]
I think at the very least I need a different tie, and that maybe it looks ok-ish but it would be far better with solid colour shirts?
I need a haircut at the moment so my head is not in these. Any opinion at all on the photos would be interesting

i get you
i guess i'm just not one for designer fashion, i'd rather have a wardrobe filled with lots of nice looking but cheap clothes than a wardrobe a quarter filled with clothes that have a designer tag on the inside
ohhh my favorite store had two 170-180 dollar buttoned shirts 70% off i bought both

Get a white shirt, or a few. Get a contrast collar shirt, get a nice light blue solid shirt that isn't shiny. get some pastels if you want, get some non obnoxious gingham shirts.
I don't really like the tie, but it is passable, and I don't like the fit of your shirt at all in the last two photos. The small pattern shirt you wore under your blazer is interesting and quite adventurous.
I don't like the styling of that blazer at all, but that is just me, I'd say if you are going to do the casual blazer thing get a navy blazer. Your blazer looks ill fitted in some photos, and overall just weirdly bunchy, but I can't make a judgement call on it.
as for ties, here are mine.
[thumb]http://i.imgur.com/WM8RRqo.jpg[/thumb]
See the plaid ones? Those are solid casual ties, match their accent colors to other colors in your outfit.
The navy and pink stripe is a solid choice for more formal occasions, as are the small pattern yellow and navy ones. Those are conservative ties that don't shout out and dominate your outfit, while still adding a tasteful accent.
The dog/hippo/boat pattern ties are all vineyard vines, and are ties that would be worn in situations where you would see vineyard vines.
Not shown in that photo are a solid black tie, a solid navy tie and a solid heather grey tie. None are shiny. These are basic and very versatile and at least one will work with any shirt/blazer pairing.
(The shiny and weird ties in this photo are mostly antiques/keepsakes, and for the most part should not be worn around. Especially the bright red shiny one.)
Thank you! You have a lot of ties.
Most likely it is I'll fitting. It's difficult to find things that fit me properly and so when I found one that fit me as well as this does I bought it. Also because I like it. It was a spur of the moment thing. I had actually left the store but went back in and bought it (after getting a further $25 off the already half price price.
I am not fond of my tie either.
I am in a position that I am too small for men's and too big for kids sizes. So the shirt in the last two is actually already tailored. It was a lot more baggy.
Anyway this is exactly what I was looking for. I generally agree with most of what you said about fit and had my suspicions before I posted. I feel like it's not so bad I can't pull it off though it's only a temporary solution.
Is there a guideline or a video that shows how to see if a blazer fits?
