Fix Up! Look Sharp v9: Winged shoes don't make you look fly

You should do something though, it looks kinda lazy
Put some product in it and style your hair upwards, that's pretty much the basic fashionable hairstyle right now
It looks a lot shorter than it actually is. If I were to brush it down it would reach my eyes, which is a little too long for me. I'll just google some styles and pick something I like, thx tho
What do you guys recommend for athletic shoes?
Flynits
Anybody have some sharp looking pullover hoodies ( or a good place to find them )? I've found a couple of slim fitting two tone hoodies that are all too small or out of stock and it's kind of a bummer.

got this nice coat for 90 bucks, was half off at the store i got it from. what do you guys think?
Are there any boots in the stacy adams madison price range without a toe cap? and maybe not so shiny? I'd really go for something like that but everything I've found is like $300+
Also for all the drive nerds, the madison are currently available in taupe in most sizes.

Funny, I was going to ask about Madison II boots too. What's a good neutral color? I think options are black, oxblood, tan, and an off brown color. I think the brown color looks really nice but what do I know

actually now that i've been looking into it more a lot of people are conflicted on the quality, some say its great some says it shoddy. Everyone on Amazon says they're comfy and work as casual/formal boots but I would like something I can trust to hold together if I wear them frequently. My converse and other thin shoes are way too cold for rainy winters in Seattle, I was hoping a nice pair of boots would help but again idunno

I'd love a pair of Red Wing Heritage boots but they are so beyond my meager funds
cowboy boots still best boots :^)

how the fuck is it i come here again after a couple of months and youre still posting about cowboy boots
Need second opinion on button-down short sleeve shirts
For example:

I believe that the incredible vast majority of these look shitty and awkward and belong in some weird limbo because they're not dressy enough to be taken seriously for actual dress clothes, nor are they casual or comfortable-looking enough to be actual casual clothes. Admittedly they can look okay if they're slim fitting but good examples of these are few and far between and I often just opt to skip over SSBD shirts altogether for either a tee or a LSBD

If you believe otherwise please offer some kind of rebuttal
They are dreadful, it's a universally known thing surely?
They are dreadful, it's a universally known thing surely?
Two of my friends who consistently wear them think otherwise, and just making sure I'm not wrong
if you can't find slim fit ones don't bother and if you don't have decent sized arms they better have slim sleeves too.
Also asos is having an end of year sale with lots of chinos on sale for cheap if any of you are interested

Get long sleeved, roll sleeves up
There, problem solved.

They're comfy and look nice, but the speed laces on mine broke off. You're better off getting a regular pair of Madisons for the time being. My vote goes for these.

I'm just splurging on a pair of Iron Rangers, they'll last forever and I really liked the fit when I tried them on in store.
-snip-
Ordered iron rangers in amber harness, rip my wallet and my feet during break in. I'm excited though, first pair of shoes I've spent more than $60 on!
my rangers were a bad buy. big, clunky, uncomfortable and no sign if getting any more comfortable even after months of wear. they are just too big. slim profile boots are better.
Rusty, what do you recommend for a slim profile boot, in that case? I've been wanting a pair of iron rangers for a while, but I think they do look a bit clunky on me, when I tried on a pair.
Desert boots always and forever.

That makes twice now I've bought things you guys recommended against :v:
I did end up loving the bomber jacket though. Also, you seem to be the exception as everyone seems to like them eventually.

Yeah, Clarks Desert Boots, Madison I and II's, and I think RW makes a slimmr "Brogue Ranger" line
[editline]4th January 2015[/editline]
disregard the brogue ranger its a bit of frankenboot the more i look at it
my favourite boots are my allen edmonds dalton in walnut
theyre thick, but very slim profile (so much so that its recommended you order a width size up from your normal which id prob agree with). but also expensive. but worth it
[editline]5th January 2015[/editline]
other than that, yeah my brown madisons are my daily comfort wear

I personally prefer the look of the Iron Rangers, but I really do like the Madison's and they are on my to-get list when I recover from buying the IR's
Apparently the shoes I got from Marshall's are knockoff Desert Boots and I'm totally ok with that considering they were $30
how can something possibly be a knock off desert boot? like it isn't a brand that's just what the type of shoe is called
[editline]6th January 2015[/editline]
i never wore desert boots personally and i'm glad, because whenever i see someone in public in a pair of shit chinos and some desert boots i can't help but think they browsed mfa for 30 mins and now think they're eligible to be put on GQ's top 100
Whats the current popular style of frames for someone with an ovalish face? I'm used to only having those awful wireframe types.

honestly the only real way of knowing is going to an optician and trying them on, and then either asking the person in the optician how they look or take pictures for friends
home trials are cool too, I got my glasses from a little place in London called Cubitts - they send you 4 pairs with clear lenses and you pick which ones you like, I settled on these http://www.cubitts.co.uk/media/catalog/product/cache/1/thumbnail/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/b/r/brunswicklight-male_1.png

There are also guides that tell you what fits with your face shape. Just try to figure out your faceshape and work backwards from there. Tbh, avoid thin rimmed glasses and bring a friend or two. If they say they look good, go for it. Generally really small rectangular glasses are bad, and too big of glasses are grandma glasses :v:
its just a plain old brown messenger bag. but i really don't believe them to be formal, i just think they're not particularly in style anymore
I prefer messenger bags, I think they look better than most usual high school bags kids bring to college. Also, they're better for lighter loads that you have in college (like going to one class at a time or not carrying books to class). Perfect for my Surface Pro 3, but I've obviously proven I know nothing about fashion :/
