Fix Up! Look Sharp v9: Winged shoes don't make you look fly

Vans are basic as fuck. Everyone is going to hate me for saying this, but Supra makes some damn nice shoes.
barf. vans are getting really overdone, but I avoid supras like the plague. even their low tops
can anyone find me a pair of nice black plimsolls with brown soles? i can't seem to find them but I want them (as I need casual black shoes and prefer the brown over a bright white sole)
[editline]13th May 2013[/editline]
or even a gray sole. I'm just looking for good looking black plimsolls when it comes down to it.

That's something I always wanted too, a simple black shoe with a gum sole. It's really hard to find.
Adidas Nizza series > Vans.
again, i urge someone to help me with my previous plimsolls question, it would be infinitely appreciated
but the primary purpose of this post is to ask if anybody knows a good place to find a herringbone tweed suit? complete with vest, too, if possible
i want to have a suit to wear casually, but also to wear the vest under the jacket for special occasions. that would be neat.
[editline]13th May 2013[/editline]
and by casually i mean to special occasions, but more casual special occasions, like interviews or something, whereas the vest would accompany me to dances or even more special special occasions
[editline]13th May 2013[/editline]
now that i think about it i'm not sure why i wrote 'to wear casually' because i wouldn't be wearing it casually at all
what do you wear with chinos or what looks good with them? I picked up a pair today and then realized I had no clue if I had anything to go with it.
I usually contrast chinos with darks
Rolling the cuffs once or twice and wearing with low tops is also a thing, but make sure you don't wear visible socks

I do that pretty much daily, except I wear long socks. I personally think it looks good.

yeah i tend to do that with nice socks (i.e. not white or black. well, maybe black if i'm wearing a black shirt, but usually just a nice tan or patterned sock like a wool pattern or speckled pattern or something) and it can look nice.
but yeah, black shirts tend to go really well with chinos i think

Yep
Incidentally that picture is a great example of why you shouldn't wear whites/lights with them, dreadful
Also personally I'd lean toward less saturated/earthier/khakier chinos, you're a bit close to mud/poo/peanut butter there

Does anyone know where I can get a shirt (as a pose to a t-shirt) like this?
As opposed to*
good lord
I don't know why you would want that on a shirt, the pattern is atrocious.
Where do you guys get your chinos? Levis?

Not exactly the same pattern but pretty close: [url]http://us.topman.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=41&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=33059&storeId=13051&productId=9895594&langId=-1&sort_field=Relevance&categoryId=207526&parent_categoryId=207478&pageSize=20[/url]

I actually had something like this in mind

I've completely changed my mind on that shirt after a second review.

These guys dig it though

Levi's is always a good bet for casual chinos and jeans under $100. Land's End Canvas also has some good chinos from what I've heard, but I've never tried a pair myself.

OR
[IMG]http://i.imgur.com/ojljnbX.jpg[/img]
can't find them online, they're £20 in UO reduced from £70. I normally tend to dress in what would be considered "streetwear" and my usual shoe rotation is nike or new balance trainers but I kinda want to try something a bit different...[/QUOTE]
is this in the birmingham store?
I saw the grey ones in bham UO for £20, almost bought them.
I need to get new shoes. I've been wearing the same jordans for the past 2 and half years. They've held up pretty good but I just need something new. Getting tired of having no choice between shoes other then nike sandals, running shoes or my busted old J's.

What do you think of these. They're the only ones in my size.
it's like a boatshoe trying to be a sneaker (or the other way around).
no.

red or dark blue tie??
unless you're billie joe armstrong, stay away from black suits on black shirts with red ties
[editline]13th May 2013[/editline]
actually just stay away from black suits on black shirts in general
I'd say neither and ditch the black shirt. The black on black suit-shirt combination doesn't really work unless you're in a jazz band or something, it has a bit of a trenchcoat mafia vibe to it.
[editline]14th May 2013[/editline]
Agh ninja'd
In short, you look waaay to dressed up.
[editline]14th May 2013[/editline]
Wear a loose white shirt and keep the suit open, skip the tie, see if that looks better on you.
[editline]14th May 2013[/editline]
Also I hope you don't have both of the buttons buttoned, that's even less relaxed.
