You've never really had any friends because going to school is such an important pert of a child's social development that depriving them of that can fuck them up if the parents don't try incredibly hard not just with homeschooling but also getting their child out to socialize. You really should tell social services or something because that's no way to raise a child.
[editline]7th September 2013[/editline]
TBH you seem pretty literate as well and remarkably well adjusted; you should enrol on some adult education courses so you can get some formal qualifications
I probably saved myself from being socially awkward by socializing at much as possible with people online such as garrysmod servers, dayz, world of warcraft or anything that allowed me to socialize.
[editline]7th September 2013[/editline]
this thread is pretty much the closest I've gotten to telling people about my problem. I really appreciate everyone's help and support.
OP, just going to lay this down as fact: You were not home-schooled at all. Don't carry on saying that's what has been going because it is not true. I've had friends leave school to be home schooled and they follow the standard curriculum and get GCSE's, diplomas, A Levels and any other official qualifications that schools can offer.
What happened to you was your parents dicked on you big style - especially considering that (what i get from your first post) they just left you to your own devices in terms of educating yourself. I'd say you should get into contact with social services as soon as you can, let hem know exactly what has gone on in your life and then see what they say.
All the best mate, PM me for any support.

I wasn't home schooled. I am aware. But if anyone asked I'd say I was to keep my parents out of trouble. its unnecessary in my opinion.
How the hell can you just slip under the radar like that, education is mandatory til 16, even home schooling
Your parents denied your right to education and broke the law, how do they expect you to do what you want to do in life
Start with GCSE's or an equivalent BTEC or something
I'm in a situation somewhat like yours OP. I don't really like to post about it, but maybe you can feel better knowing you're not alone.

no
Don't worry about your parents, in the UK, they tend to try and make sure that abuses like this don't happen again if it wasn't done in malice. Go get some help, I can help you if you are in Carmarthenshire if you are PM me.

No I'm in the north. Thank you for asking though.

And I mean it, you need to put your future over any fears about your parents. They'll be fine, they probably won't be jailed if it is only neglect they did. You need to get your life sorted out and every day you wait is one day of your future ruined.
Here where I live it's illegal to not put your child in school.
I wasn't home schooled. I am aware. But if anyone asked I'd say I was to keep my parents out of trouble. its unnecessary in my opinion.
This is going to sound harsh. In fact, I think this is going to sound almost unnecessarily harsh.
Why the hell do you still care about the people who have willingly crippled your development? I find it unbelievable that you have to resort to asking total strangers for help now because your parents find school 'indoctrinating' and haven't taught you a thing, merely left you to your own devices, and you still insist on keeping them from trouble. You're lucky you turned out the way you did, you really are, and you think they should just be able to get away with it?
Besides that, if tell whoever's in charge that you're home-schooled, they're gonna ask questions about the how, the what. Chances are, they still might want to go after your parents.
So OP, what does your parents do then?
Also, can you not move on your own closer to the school while your parents can help you with all that, if they can/want?
As for education, I'm not sure how it is in your country, but there are schools that have beginner courses that revise the first 6-9 years of education in a matter of few lessons.
No I'm in the north. Thank you for asking though.
If you wanted to take a drastic measure, you could run away and get your parents to not report you as missing (your 18, so this shouldn't be a huge issue), then once far enough report to the police that you ran away and you have never had a school education, but not tell who your parents are. They should understand, and you might have a chance at being set up to get some education. This is pretty severe, but you do need an education in this society or else you really can't get anywhere, and you might be stuck with your parents forever. This is an option if you don't want to get your parents in trouble, and you still might get a chance at some education. You could always try and keep in touch with your parents as well, again this option is severe, but it is still an option in which something might be salvaged. This might not sound good to some, but you should hear all your options.
You definitely want to get help, SOMEONE at least that can solve this problem without your parents getting in jail. It's their fault but as you definitely don't want them to get in jail and have a normal and happy situation at home, you should contact someone related to family issues.
Ignoring the debate about the legality and or morality of what has happened to you I will just try and help.
If you want to study something at a college, go to that college and talk to them about it.
I got into college and studied computing (at an a-level equivalent level) with no qualifications at all just by going along to an open evening and talking to them in person.
It worked out quite well for me in the end, it could work for you.

Yes there's an adult college near me that is like that, it costs though. This is the one near me: http://www.northern.ac.uk/
I was homeschooled, but both my parents are teachers and I still attended 'extracurricular' programs like ice skating and stuff like that. I can't imagine what having no base must be like, but you've done incredibly well on your own. You seem like a decent guy, and based on how you're interacting with us I don't think you'll have any trouble making friends. I wish you the best of luck, you're in a tough spot but you're doing very well with it so far. If there's anything you think I can help with shoot me a PM, I'm over in the US but there might be something I can help with.
my school had tried to get me to learn to type with the "Fingers on ASDF and HJKL" or whatever the method was that they say is the "proper way to type" when I was little
That way just fucked me up instead. I type with only my two index fingers which I put wherever the fuck I want yet I can type better, and faster than anybody I know in my school. And guess how I learned that, like OP, playing shit like runescape when I was young

My situation is nothing like the OPs but I do draw some parallels. The reason why I haven't(I'm assuming the OP as well.) Is because reguardless of how much they screwed up his life that was not their intention. They honestly believed that they were doing the right thing.
I could do that. But I really just want to go somewhere that is physical. I hate the idea of more online learning.
I figured this would be paired with a physical school, just to supplement the material and make the transition easier.
If you want to go to college do it before you turn 19 so it's free. Go to a half decent one and it's a good place to meet people. Go to any extracurricular shit you can be arsed to for the same reason. Education is one thing but mates are another and believe me I know, it's shit not having any. If you can afford it, take guitar lessons too, or if there's any music classes at a college, take it. On GCSE's I'm not quite sure, but I don't doubt that you'll be able to take them during college.
You seem to be doing pretty well for having never attended school.
As for getting in, judging by your grammar and spelling and whatnot, you could definitely get started at a tech school or something. It doesn't take much to get into a community or technical college. While they get a lot of shit, they're good introductory schools to further your education until you can get into a bigger university. I wouldn't immediately try and attend a bigger university, but yeah, there are plenty of alternatives that offer decent stuff. I don't know if you're American, if not, I don't know if other countries have "technical colleges", maybe there are just different names for them.
[editline]7th September 2013[/editline]
Oh, it says UK at the top. Like I said, though, you could get into somewhere.
I have to say, for someone who's never went to school all his life, you seem surprisingly quite literate. No, I think it is. Infact, I would go as far as to say that the internet has schooled me. The school I went to taught me nothing.

I really want to do all this but every time I go to a site and look up some colleges all the courses have requirements, like, YOU MUST HAVE AT LEAST 5 GCSES, LEVEL 6 INTELLIGENCE and a minimum of SIXTY POINTS IN NANOTECHNOLOGY!
At least, that is how I read it because I barely understand any of the requirements. I don't even know what a BTEC or GCSE is.
[editline]7th September 2013[/editline]
Even the smaller colleges require some prerequisite from some lower level school. Because everyone is expected to have gone to school. But I haven't. I think it would be really great if I could get all the stuff from older schools done in a year or 2. Like gcse's and what not, I wouldn't mind going to college at 20.
I wasn't home schooled. I am aware. But if anyone asked I'd say I was to keep my parents out of trouble. its unnecessary in my opinion.
No it isn't. you are basically fucked end of story.
You'll have to work 1000% harder to try and get a job. You'll need a social services worker to explain your situation to potential employers, etc.
You cannot say, "well they didn't mean any harm oh well!". They didn't mean harm, but they have harmed you quite significantly.
[editline]7th September 2013[/editline]
It seems like there's really no way to take your GSCEs unless you were in secondary school. Contact social services at this point, facepunch isn't going to be able to help you.
I usually don't post in threads like these, but this is def. one of the more depressing threads I've read.
OP I seriously hope you're still able to receive a proper education, if I were extremely wealthy I'd pay for your education. I mean this from the bottom of my heart.

They have harmed me, but they'll be damned if they'll harm me any more. I am not going to send them to prison for something they did to me in the past. I can't ever forgive them but I'm not going to ruin some ones life just because they ruined mine, I am solving nothing that way.

As an addendum to this, this isn't a problem you can throw money at to fix. You'll need to basically start from primary school.

They will not arrest your parents.
At most they'll be fined.
This is not a problem you can solve on your own and I don't know why you don't seem to get this.
Contact social services.
