Oh memories... I'd love to spend a month going to all of these places and the Disneylands at them to compare.
I take a lot of Disneyland photography. If you guys are Disneyland-homesick, you can check out my flickr. http://www.flickr.com/photos/mkealcoran/sets/72157629178439855/

24 hour day wasn't all that exciting tbh
24 hour day wasn't all that exciting tbh
Indeed. Disneyland parks? Or WDW?
24 hour day wasn't all that exciting tbh
it's a stupid, terrible gimmick. they staffed it well this time around, but they still hardly knew what the fuck they were doing. especially because DCA had a grad nite the same night as the 24 hour disney day (oops). meaning they had to close off pretty much all of DCA for just the grads at 10, and then open again to "day" guests at 3 am. so, the grads got fucked over, the guests got fucked over, total shit show. supposedly, when they, err, dropped the metaphorical rope to let regular guests back onto rides and at the same time kick out the grads (i'm not even kidding, who thought that would work out well?), practical riots broke out in like four locations. not enough security to help out, and like maybe 6 total attraction managers for the whole park. i don't know why they're doing this if not the silly merchandising, and i don't know why any guests think "hey yeah that's a great idea". disneyland's fun, don't get me wrong, i love disneyland, i honestly do, but at 3 am i'm not gonna be rushing into a ride at a theme park. i'm gonna be fuckin sleeping. [editline]25th May 2013[/editline] in other news, i heard today of a rumor going 'round that they're considering removing Muppet Vision 3D and using that building and the currently empty Stage 17 to build a Monstropolis rollercoaster in DCA. the idea sounds cool, but ridiculously farfetched. however, the source is someone i usually trust, because they take stuff like this seriously, and like i said, sounds cool, so i hope it's true. i just personally doubt it is. [editline]25th May 2013[/editline] Stage 17 is currently used for Special Events, and used to be used for Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, right next to Super Star Limo, which is now Monsters Inc.: Mike and Sulley to the Rescue. BY THE WAY, IF YOU DIDN'T KNOW [sub][sup]which is perfectly understandable[/sup][/sub]
Now if only they'd get rid of Muppet Vision 3D in Hollywood Studios. I hate the muppets and it's a terrible attraction.
you can't seriously hate the muppets, can you? because, only terrible, terrible people hate the muppets. the muppets are great! the only reason the attraction needs to go is because it's incredibly dated, the "spirit of 3D" looked stupid and dated when the show first started, and NOBODY watches the show. in DCA the show pulls in maybe 40 people per show. yeah, sure, that's not bad, until you find out the theater seats 580 people (because it's literally a small theater), then it's very bad. The Muppet Movie (20011) sparked up interest in The Muppets and the show itself, meaning for the attraction, as well, but that died down. I'm now asked "where can we watch the >new 3d disney movie coming out< trailer?" instead of "where can we watch muppet vision 3d". basically, the attraction just needs to be put out of its misery. it's not quite as bad as what happened with Captain EO, though. I'd prefer it if that theater stayed as Honey, I Shrunk The Audience instead of reverting to EO, in honor of Jackson be damned.
I love the Muppets show :( I know the 3d thing looks dated but I find that funny about it, they're like an alternate universe so it's not really immersion breaking when the technology doesn't align and it's supposed to be "the invention of 3d". I mean if the thing came out and looked hyper realistic that would kinda ruin it. Love that 90s charm. And the one at Hollywood still draws a crowd so idk. Maybe that's because Hollywood can be accomplished in so little time you might as well do everything. [editline]26th May 2013[/editline]
Indeed. Disneyland parks? Or WDW?
WDW. Very few special events, merchandise wasn't exciting, staying in the park late is overblown... only thing that excited me all night is they changed Celebrate the Magic for the whole summer.
current monsters inc ride fuckin blows tokyo's is crazy better

I always thought a good Monsters Inc. ride would be a simulator where you're looking out a door through that huge door storage thingy I mean it wouldn't make much logical sense that you'd feel it moving but still
I think the Laugh Floor is so perfect, but an actual Monsters Inc. ride? I don't see much potential in that.
Festival of Fools needs to come back.
I think the Laugh Floor is so perfect, but an actual Monsters Inc. ride? I don't see much potential in that.
i don't know when i went we watched the laugh floor twice and both times it was just "i mean, i get it, i guess. good one?" the whole time. it's not even because they tell jokes more for kids because it's a kids show based around a kids movie, it was just unfunny. totally unfunny. neat idea, but, needs talented talent.

My friend got into Club 33 last night. Lucky bastard.

That looks fucking amazing. My girl friend and I wish this was in place of the buzz lightyear ride so bad.
I'm thinking about going seasonal strictly for the benefits and perks, but I'm not sure if I want to or if I did, where I'd stay when I came down to work. Any help?

Any help?
honestly you'd have to talk to someone in the team center about that. here at DLR we call them cast-living or something like that, but basically they help us get discounts on living. if i were you i'd ask if you could get a dirt cheap extended stay hotel room (maybe the wilderness lodge), or maybe rent out a cheap vacation home. something for seasonal work. Something to consider, though, when you go CT, that stretch of time that you are available, you have to be fully available. You can still put in requests, obviously, but they prefer you to be available all day every day, and they'll schedule you as such. and you'll lose all seniority. i think some of the animatronics are polished up, none are more advanced tho i just love that gag factory sequence
Mickey and the Magical Map is pretty cool!
My girlfriend and I are going to the Magic Kingdom Sunday. Aside from buffing our SOTMK card collection and going on the Magic Kingdom Mountain range first before it gets too crowded, anything we should keep in mind?
what the hell Paris gets an actual Halloween event? how did I not know about this? badass
Just got some new French roommates. One's a bell hop and the other is just in operations. They're some pretty cool guys and it makes me love how Disney brings together all nationalities.
Met up with Venezuelan today and played in the parks with him! Ballin' as fuck.
Sorry to bump this thread but my college program is coming to an end. It was a great experience and I'm going to miss it. Despite having moments of being completely miserable, in retrospect it was all worth it. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves Disney parks or wants something to do for a semester or a summer. I'm about to switch off my computer and pack it up for my 2 day drive home tomorrow. Before I do I just wanted to leave you with this, the very last thing I got to do at work: polishing Walt's head.
