love the crack the skye and their other stuff. saw mastodon last year with dethklok and they were awesome just as expected
I was at this show I left before dethklok played though lol [editline]26th October 2010[/editline] also remission is my favorite of their albums by far
I've all three Tab Books, A Tour Shirt, Crack The Skye, Leviathan and Call of The Mastodon on CD and I know almost half of every song they've written.... would I consider myself a fan? Nah probably not. And I have Brent Hinds as an avatar.
What the hell is that supposed to mean
That he is a massive fan.
my mom really likes Crack the Skye
took me a while to get into these guys but now I really like them.
Cool post count Hamm0, also took me a while to get into them well the vocals on some songs that is.
Bloody amazing. Colony of Birchmen is still stuck in my head from 3 years ago.
my mom really likes Crack the Skye
Do you punch mother's too?
Bloody amazing. Colony of Birchmen is still stuck in my head from 3 years ago.
Even though Crack the Skye is my favourite album, Colony of Birchmen is my favourite song.
I was at this show I left before dethklok played though lol [editline]26th October 2010[/editline] also remission is my favorite of their albums by far
i saw every band except i only saw like 2 songs of high on fire. i didn't like converge, but dethklok was awesome. i was already a fan of them too by the time i went to the show. i remember watching tv and seeing an ad for the tour and i practically shit myself.
high on fire is one of my favorite bands right now and I couldn't help but laugh the entire time converge was playing I mean I've heard some bad bands before but goddamn
FUCK YEAH MASTODON. I'm wearing my Blood Mountain jacket right now. I saw these guys in May along with Valient Thor, Baroness, and Between the Buried and Me. If you guys like Mastodon, then check out Baroness. They're quite similar to Mastodon. It was a mind-blowing show. They played all of Crack the Skye, which is my favorite album, then they played about 8 old songs from their other albums. I managed to hear all of my favorite songs by them. And Capillarian Crest blows my mind.

Am I the only one who doesn't really like Mastodon? Something about their earlier albums (pre-Crack the Skye) just doesn't really click with me. I've given them a few listens, but I just can't really get myself to like them. I mean, I can listen to em, but I can't find myself wanting any of their songs, let alone albums. Crack the Skye is probably (well, by default, is) my favorite album by them. Only songs I really like off it are the self-titled, "Oblivion," and "The Last Baron." I think I like "The Last Baron" the best, though. Not sure why.
because it's the best song on the album
because it's the best song on the album
Holy shit, this was my first favorite band. I completely forgot them for some reason.
I too find Crack The Skye to be far superior to the rest. Other stuff is pretty good but nothing amazing really Also Converge are good if you can appreciate them, their time signatures and stuff are crazy. It sounds really fucking messy but once you learn to like it it's good shit
so they're like a bad version of dillinger escape plan
so they're like a bad version of dillinger escape plan
Even if people call both of them mathcore, they're not alike. Also shut up, Converge kicks ass.
One of those rare bands that actually deserves their popularity.
These guys are actually pretty good. I think I'm going to pick up an album, the only question is which do I start with...
These guys are actually pretty good. I think I'm going to pick up an album, the only question is which do I start with...
I'd reccomend Leviathan.
Personally I'd recommend Blood Mountain.
Personally I'd recommend Blood Mountain.
I think it'd be too complicated (No offense) and too fucked up for someone just getting into mastodon to like. Unless the like that sort of thing.
I'm open to anything really, I'll probably enjoy any one of the albums judging from the stuff I've been listening too.
I'm open to anything really, I'll probably enjoy any one of the albums judging from the stuff I've been listening too.
This is good news. Also does anyone know anything about any new albums with them? Have they mentioned anything?
I think it'd be too complicated (No offense) and too fucked up for someone just getting into mastodon to like. Unless the like that sort of thing.
I remember when I picked Blood Mountain as my first album, it took me good 3 months to understand it, but in a way of understanding their sound, patterns and techniques, the only thing that kicks me off are the vocals for example the song from Blood Mountain - the Sleeping Giant, it's just beautiful sounding but the vocals somehow ruin it for me. Later on I got Crack The Skye off the iTunes, it had instrumental tracks and found myself to enjoy them more especially The Last Baron or Ghost of Karelia, I was listening to this album for good few months, but then I wanted some change in my musical taste and somehow forgot about it, and the reason for this was Tool - Band, Tool intrigued me and I had a lot Déjà vu, somehow it was related to hear them before as a child.
For some reason I can't quite get into this band... :/
