school isn't the end of the world unless its columbine i guess
why was that funny
When I went to highschool it was set up so that if you were late by 10 minutes you were given detention for all of lunchtime. If you were late by more than one lesson then you lost your lunch AND had to stay back for an hour. If you were going to be more than 50 minutes late (one lesson) then it was better for you to just ring in sick and have the day off. Stupid setup.
I'm pretty sure detention isn't going to make any difference on your transcript, you can get detention for any minor BS in most high schools. Also how do you get detention for simply being absent.
I almost got lunchtime detention for being less than 10 seconds late for class the other week. And on the same day, a mate of mine got detention for being a little over 10 seconds late for class.
What the christ? I can literally say "I was sick" or "I missed the bus" when I am late and they just give me a late pass.
I wouldn't go. Just, fuck shit, most of the shit my class did was an utter useless waste of time, so if I'd happen to be sick, I wouldn't even try.
Wait, what's wrong with arriving late? So? Go there, enter class, sit down. Really don't see the problem.
At my school if I'm absent they don't give a fuck but if I'm late for 5 minutes then I get detention.
you better not go your teacher will probably strangle you

They should encourage students to come to school if they are late, not freaking punish them.
That's so fucking stupid and backwards. They should encourage students to come to school if they are late, not freaking punish them.
They had a hard time really, people were deliberately arriving about 15 minutes late just to be rebellious. They put the lunchtime detention thing in to stop people doing that, but it ended up screwing over the people who were unintentionally late. Then people started not coming in until second lesson so that they weren't 'losing' any time (highschoolers are idiots), so they did the afterschool thing in. It sort of stopped the skivers from skiving but meant that if you didn't wake up on time you were better off just ringing in sick.
My school just started yesterday after 2 week holidays, but I slept in until 5:25pm when school starts at 9:00am. Solution: Stay up all night then you will be tired for the next day so you'll go to sleep easier, that's if you have a screwed sleeping pattern.
