Start small, maybe a collaborative construction of something purchased from Ikea. Maybe a table.

Spacepunch Research and Development
If this gets going let me know? I can be of invaluable use.
View YouTUBE video http://youtube.com/watch?v=_b4WzWFKQ20
Hey lets do that. :downs: Sending a model into space attached to a balloon is not nearly as hard as sending a car a few thousand feet.
If all the active members donated 15 dollars wouldn't that fund us?
What's the point nothing would come of it and if I'm going to waste money I'll go and buy some food or something.
Spacepunch Research and Development
it would turn into 30000 men perving on women from space LETS DO THIS!
I will fund it. [editline]08:47AM[/editline] hloy fukc our spaceshitp is wurkiung1!!!!!111 ^____^ [editline]08:47AM[/editline] it exploded! oh fuck! im crying`! were gonna be poor! i need to go 2 craft store and get refund!!!
That's what you get for spending $999.95 of your mother's paypal money on flimsey parts
duct tape enough bottle rockets to something, ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!
If all the active members donated 15 dollars wouldn't that fund us?
Good luck getting 1 percent of facepunch to donate to this. Even if 100% did, it would be less than enough. Here's another startup space company to give you an idea.
On April 2, 2008, Carmack offered an updated figure of "total cost to date, about $3.5 million". He estimated that another $2 million would be needed to achieve a manned flight to 100 km using Armadillo's modular design in a "six-pack" configuration.

Hey lets do that. :downs: Sending a model into space attached to a balloon is not nearly as hard as sending a car a few thousand feet.
That's boring though :frown:
:foxnews: A terrorist group called facepunch is attempting to get into space. More at 11.:foxnews:
Genious.
The "Space program" is just getting a weather balloon to a point in the sky where you can see the curve of the Earth, it is not actually in Space. It's been done alot by single people, without a team, it's actually pretty simple once you have all the gear.
Here's the SA space program thread for those that haven't seen it http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3271649
I still think the best way of space exploration is throwing a pebble really high. All hail king of the space pebbles. Seriously if you do start some sort of project I will happily donate some money to see it happen.
This http://nyhedsvideo.dk/100901raket/ is how professional those people at SA are. Notice the submarine that was there last project.
It's not like the "SA space project" is a forum effort. It's a project with a couple of SA goons.
Why go to space ? Let's do something different, like make a little submarine to explore an ocean [editline]04:16PM[/editline] It will also be more legal, probably
A space race against facepunch and 4chan? It could happen
A space race against facepunch and 4chan? It could happen
fuck this is epic. 3 internet communities racing to create their space craft... fuck this is what mankind should be all about.
fuck this is epic. 3 internet communities racing to create their space craft... fuck this is what mankind should be all about.
There is no racing. Some guys from SA did it already, the rest of the community had nothing to do with it. Meanwhile, Facepunchers are stroking their dicks at the idea of doing the same and 4chan is drooling on itself I assume
I'm basically thinking of this forum space-race as the beginning of the "Cold War of FP". And yes I know it isn't a "race" or anything, but we need to prove that we're better!
Why don't we just build a Patrol Boat or something for starters? With guns? We have enough rednecks here, we could stick a couple miniguns on it :L
Just make a Facepunch Cruise Line or some shit, much easier than some spaceship
Just make a Facepunch Cruise Line or some shit, much easier than some spaceship
Yeah, plus we need to be a little bit original, it's rather stupid to do the same thing just because they did it. And yeah, I know SA's rocket is already over, but I was fapping to the epic of the race...
I'll officially graduate with my BS in Aerospace Engineering in a couple months, I'm only 6 credits from completion right now. However, it'd also be good to have mechanical engineers, chemical engineers, electrical engineers, and probably some space sciences people who actually like orbital mechanics at the very, very least. I assume we already have enough people who can do the coding, but it needs to be done in older, very stable, languages. All in all, there are so many super classified programs (that are gigantic) that NASA uses for calculating re-entry, orbital mechanics, gravity, etc, that I don't think this can really be done by a lot of people in their spare time at any rate faster than a retarded snails pace. Even just simply launching a large rocket is quite complicated: once you think it can reach a certain altitude, you have to let the Air Force know because it then gets classified as a missile. When senior design projects at my school get to that point, the Air Force also keeps an eye on it ready to shoot it out of the sky at the first sign of trouble.
Cool, I'm expecting to graduate with a BS in Computer engineering in 4 years. Wait for me.
Hey guys, ever since SA guys set up their space program I have seen facepunchers talk about something similar. However don't you guys think its way too much to start on? I think it would be much better to make a facepunch project that is much smaller. We would need to sort out things like: Location it will be built at Funding needs to be set up We would need a team of designers Access to various equipment And much more. Would it not be smarter to start with something small? Like a small boat, Glider, or maybe something like paintball tank. I myself would get involved in a facepunch project like this, I do design engineering, and have access to plasma cutting machinery, cheap steel, folding and painting things.
wait what??? :byodood:
My school have a school rocket, so FpSA? Why not. I'm serious about my school. It's called ORBIT.
