That second one is p good petieng
All of them are quite nice to look at, though I have no clue what's going on in the first one. Seems like he was just caught in the middle of doing something, but I don't know what it is.
He's clapping to cause an avalanche with the grass?
Anyone have some editing techniques for portraits ? But a good way to edit is to leave some warmth on the shot unless you feel the mood of the shot should be lower warmth. Otherwise you should always leave the shot similar to what it originally looked like. Usually for me though I just think of whatever would come to mind for that shot and the lighting, I've just used stuff from what I've learned off of tons of tutorials I've found online in the past. [editline]10:06PM[/editline] That's a good example of what I mean by the whole warmth factor, if you were to get a shot like this warmth probably wouldn't be the way to go since it probably was aimed to resemble a 15th century painting look to it. You have to be careful when deciding the style though. But you have to also remember that the face has to match this tone as well, then again that could just be me and being picky with subjects.
ok okay we've moved on? sorry i was late [editline]05:07PM[/editline] ruined my editmerge

I guess ill just mess around in Photoshop and see where it leads me... I been away for a while so I'm my only model which kind of sucks haha cause I am stiff and always put the camera in front of me cause I don't have my remote yet and the 50mm is a pain in the ass for SP's
That portrait looks p. bad Alex, airbrushed to hell. Unless it's a digital painting and not a raped photo. If it's a painting it's good. so i went travelling this summer, and one of the places i stayed was this place called Mantanani island, just off the west coast of borneo. now, there's a couple of dive sites around, so there'll be a handful of tourists a day (but they only go to a certain part of the island) with nobody staying overnight, but we stayed there for a whole month. kind of strange but cool to think that we were the first white people to stay on Mantanani for more than a day, and that now there will be other people staying... but we were still the first. :D anyway, since we were the first group, our camp 'manager' wanted me to come up with some designs to paint on our little house, since i was the only remotely artistic one in the group. so i came up with the 'mantanani turtle', and a design for each of our member's initials. then she asked me to do one for the village chief, since he was spending a lot of time with us (despite not speaking much english) and was a pretty safe guy. so i came up with these designs, and drew them on the walls of the house (which was actually really hard). i didn't paint them though, one of the island crew did. it's just a bit of messing with the tone and colour curves. just have a play about and you'll see :)
That portrait looks p. bad Alex, airbrushed to hell. Unless it's a digital painting and not a raped photo. If it's a painting it's good.
Now you're just being silly. It doesn't matter how it's made. It doesn't automatically become good just because it is done differently. If it looks good it looks good. If it looks bad it looks bad.
Okay I got a question this one guy is amazing at PP. Be careful with the values.
Okay I got a question this one guy is amazing at PP. anyone know how he makes his tones look so brilliant ?
That vignette has a lot to do with the overall feel of the image. Just experiment with duplicate layers, color shifts, and blending modes. I like to make a duplicate layer, edit the curves to make it look cross-processed, then stick that on top of the original layer with certain blending options. I forget what I usually use. The result is a lomographic/vintage look. For example: Also, anyone know how I can replicate the look that plastic optics give without dropping money on a third-party lens? Like such: Ignore the odd focus and blur, that's from using a lensbaby, I'm just talking about that foggy dreamy look.
Looks like a duplicated layer of radial blur with blur added on top of it set to some sort of overlay mode.
Looks like a duplicated layer of radial blur with blur added on top of it set to some sort of overlay mode.
Alright, so I want that without the radial blur. I'm about to toy around with some photos from last weekend and see how it works out.
Adding artificial vignetting is horribly cliché, don't do it.
Ahem...

That's not bokeh.
the little light splotches in the trees way in the back are... aren't they?
Actually that's not such a good picture indeed. And the bokeh is horrible...
Actually that is a good picture. and that is bokeh it just sucks because that lens doesn't create good bokeh really so its not as circular...
I'm just starting to work with my camera.. I think I did a little too much exposure here.. Using a Canon EOS(Rebel XS)? (She isn't a model, I know, does it really matter?) Still working it out and what not, I only have a 18-55mm zoom lens. As well as photoshop effects.

And do center weighted average metering. it's more accurate.
the little light splotches in the trees way in the back are... aren't they?
that's just a result from DOF. Borkeh is like where the majority of the image is like that.
