I find this very creative ! :D Flickr!
that's a good idea, i'll work on one with realistic looking blood
You really love gloss don't you? For how long have you been addicted to it now? I mean, if you can't even think about blood not having round metal shine to it... Then... Yeah...
is this one any good [IMG_thumb]http://i36.tinypic.com/2gybxub.png[/IMG_thumb]
Much much better. Also the smaller one (in the quote here) is also a bit darker than the big one which also helps making it look better. Darker blood is more dramatic and effectful.
I find this very creative ! :D [img_thumb]http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2739/4062324608_1402ffe6a0.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2701/4062324954_4b8c2516bf.jpg[/img_thumb]
Exactly what part of those pictures do you find creative? [editline]04:10AM[/editline]
here's some ore. Please give me criticism. #1 - Jack and the Beanstalk [img_thumb]http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2602/4059202077_9651261d5d.jpg[/img_thumb] #2 - Moonshot [img_thumb]http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2502/4059201885_9468c3ba2c.jpg[/img_thumb]
#1 - Jack and the Beanstalk I like it, it's a good idea with good depth to it making it look pretty big and stretching into the sky. However the background seems a bit dull, especially the sky. The sky is very grey, and in my opinion it should be brighter and happier since it kinda collides with the happy nice green and light blue colours in the picture. The colours could probably take advantage of some more saturation too, give it some more force, the light blue sky has this slight grey tone over it, as if it's dulled down below it's original look. In my opinion it's not the kind of picture that can be great. But it has potential to be pretty good. I mean, after all it's just some plant in early progress and some sky in the background. It's also kinda empty because of what it is. It's just some growing plant. But I really do like the depth you gave it, made it stand out from most shots of that nature making it pretty good for it's class. In my opinion at least. Possibly add some more sharpen to it? #2 - Moonshot Eh... The moon is kinda overdone, and it hardly ever looks different. And when you can't get a close shot of it, then it usually just becomes a bothersome element in the photo. You'd need some telescope or a good lens, or just live in some country where the moon is close at times in order to take a nice shot with the use of the moon. Otherwise... It's some dull grey clouds and some dark sky. The photo is really lacking of any elements, and the element that is there (the moon) doesn't really look very nice. The whole picture also seems underexposed and thus just doesn't grab any attention at all.
Another really good one from last night.
The blur on the blue players leg down in the left corner looks a little wierd
Exactly what part of those pictures do you find creative?
Non really, only meant as an unfunny joke, but since you ask... I find them just as creative as your first self portrait ! ;) Again... JOKE ! The two others I actually do like !
It's not exactly the blood that's shining in the gloss. The idea behind that is it's meant to look like someone made a large plastic model of the logo or something, it's not meant to look real, just plain and shiny. But like I said some people prefer realistic looking so I made one. I like them both equally though.

The two others I actually do like !
Good one. You don't have to be afraid of making me butthurt or anything. Whilst I am the master at explaining myself incredibly defensively I don't get angry at people if they think my work is shit. With all the shit I say about others work it's something I expect everytime I post something. What I am letdown on is that no one ever gives a shit about my work usually. I'm satisfied if someone tells me a shit, because at least they bothered saying it. But, I've not bothered saying a lot on other threads too, so I understand it. Blablablablablablabla, here I go again.
It's not exactly the blood that's shining in the gloss. I mean, it's just a round layer of shine, it completely ignores the shape of the blood. But as long as you like it. :banjo:
haha, again trying to make sense of random gloss. like i said, i like both.
Was hoping to shoot some more tonight, but the rain had other plans.

She seems really excited that she gets to kill zombies. I like the background, but the saturation of the "2" is different from the "4". It bugs me.
well it's not, but i can see how it might look like it is
well it's not, but i can see how it might look like it is
So it's an optical illusion then. Trippy. I may as well post a background that someone requested from me: "Wouldn't it be cool if a tyrannosaurus rex had fire vision and lazer breath?" Media-tagging for size and the possibility that it could be mistaken for memeshit.
Walking 4 miles got me this photo.
increase the ISO in dark scenes, that should reduce the noise considerably right off the bat.
Excuse me, what? Increased ISO adds more noise to the picture.

I feel this section needs a lot more constructive posting like this. [editline]11:37PM[/editline] For peabrain101's post The main issue that comes to mind when I look at your 3 photos is the lighting. The lighting, while diffused quite well, is pretty weak in my opinion. It doesn't do much to complement what you're capturing. The 2nd and 3rd shots could really use a little more warmth and contrast. The 1st and 2nd ones are a bit bland really. Your subjects are obvious in both but they but the lack of sharpness and narrow depth of field takes away from the whole thing. Don't be afraid to just mess around with your aperture settings. Cranking the f-stop all the way down for close ups doesn't always produce the best results. I know you will improve if you continue to keep at it!
Thanks, I've been playing around with lighting a lot recently, so its all just expirementation. I wish I had had my macro lens with me for the first 2, but it was a half mile away at my house.
Excuse me, what? Increased ISO adds more noise to the picture.
Yes, it increases noise, that's what it's meant to do. In darker situations, the noise that ISO picks up helps to define details, but without it, you'd have bad lighting, too much motion blur, and artifacts that show up from those less than optimal results. The noise generated by high ISO is noticeable, yes, but the noise generated by a lack of light sensitivity can be splotchy, colorful, and just plain annoying. And, just for sake of argument, my camera's built-in guide shows right-out that a picture like the one we were talking about (the football stadium shots) requires the highest ISO I can even set. Unfortunately, his camera could only reach 1600. Here's all the settings and picture that shows. LO 1 LO 0.7 bright waterfall LO 0.3 200 250 bright cityscape 320 400 500 guy on dark jet-ski 640 800 1000 Well-lit building at night 1250 1600 2000 darker indoor scene, lady at piano 2500 3200 HI 0.3 dark scene, merry-go-round at night HI 0.7 HI 1 scene like the football pictures, with solid black background and subjects at the bottom saturated by the flash. the tradeoff isn't supposed to be to increase or reduce noise, but exchange a long exposure for short. Trading off usually requires compromise, but with that comes better pictures overall. When you have football players playing in the dark, you're obviously going to need shorter exposure times to cut back on motion blur, but that would result in low light intake, so you have to increase your camera's sensitivity so it takes in more light over shorter periods of time, thus producing the best result you can with the situation you've got.

Hey, I went to Falmouth to look at the Uni and went a place called Charlestown. I'd just like to get some critique for these two shots. One of the coast This one with my gf. Any ideas what what crop would be best? I like the 2x3, but i thin somethin else would be better. Thanks for any help in advance!
Sajeno. I think the crop you have works pretty well as it is. It doesn't fit much wider crops. The ground is an important element for the depth in the picture and the bush covers such a large area of the mountain that you can't crop it too much without removing too much sky making it too heavy. If any cropping I'd say it would be somewhat like this: You should also fix that vignetting in the upper corners, it doesn't fit IMO. It just ruins the sky. Also here is what happens when me and my friend take up the tablet and draw in turns: [img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/downloader/OlaGullik.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/downloader/GullikOla.jpg[/img_thumb] The problem with this kind of drawing is that every shape makes a lot of sense when you draw it and it's all crystal clear. Then when you look at it later you can't see shit and it's all confusing, like it's no longer what you made.
