That dinosaur on the left looks distinctly like SilverRaptor.
Well I tought I paid some tribute to one of the most awesome dudes on this forum.
As I subconciously took inspiration from him.

Jack Black ?
Leaner Jack Black with sharper brows and a taller head.
It's my photo sensei.
repoating because I hate posting my art and have it land on the last post of a page. :(
and thanks for the critique Autumn :)
I LOVE THEM!
Especially the middle one.
so one of my project briefs at uni this year was to experiment with different typefaces and create our own... type faces. only catch was, we were only allowed to use our initials.

Hah, nice. I like the fat cartoon nose he got.
Going to check if it's possible to make it out of DGG.
Should be possible with the G's as eyes and D as mouth. Though, the nose may be tricky, but it depends on the font.
I tried and I failed. Limited myself to the amount of letters I had though, which I noticed afterwards was different between your two images. Thought that was part of the deal too.

that middle one is my favorite, haha. reminds me of :buddy:
I'm so terrible at art, yet I have so many ideas :(
Same here bro.
But just keep on trying! :D

nu, the only constraint was that you could only use your initials, but it doesn't matter how many times, or how many combinations of fonts you use, sorry :P
but those are awesome! the sixth one especially is hilarious. you would have done well in my class, some of the stuff people were showing was... pretty crap to be honest.
Havn't posted anything for a while so I though I'll put up a few pics from the flash game I'm working on.
The games called Libertas; its an exploration platform game, a little like the nevermore series.
Enjoy:

I like the look of it Greeneyes. Though the character kinda stands out too much since he has very strong colours whilst the backgrounds are nice and light. It makes it easier too see him, but it also distances him from actually being there.

Ah, I see.
Well thanks, and that's usually how it is, a lot of people go to media schools just because they have computers and they have no idea of what they want to be, but hey, at least they can work with computers, that's awesome.

I'm just testing some things out. I haven't taken any pictures for some months now. You'll be seeing more of my stuff later this week maybe.

Ah, I should have mentioned that the character is a place holder, put in by the coder, I'm still animating the actual character.
Thanks for the advice!

i study graphic design at university...
Media Technology degree for lyfe
To be honest no matter what creative course you're on there's always some people that just have no taste. It's pretty blunt but fair to say that if you don't have an idea of what's 'good', no matter how well you know the programs and skills you'll make shit
Currently story-boarding out some motion graphics design and making some mockups, 30 second film promo for short film I DoP'ed on in the summer (doing it for a Motion Graphics assignment)

nice! are you gonna up the resolution on the smoke on the right though, 'cause it looks pretty low res at the moment.

In the final cut I'm going to buy some (hopefully 2k, although failing that 1080 HD, or a possibility is to try shooting my own using the RED, but I'm still clueless as to its operation) stock footage of some ink drops, and likely a font that's more individual; I'll make a big post about all the pre production/production proccess once it's done
Also first cut of the film is set to be done on wednesday, woop woop

Thanks!
Every level will be 'hand drawn', so no repeated tiles, so takes a long time, therefore I'm glad you dig it!

Personally I despise how the guy turned out, he looks too effeminate, but some of my female friends like it so, hell.
Dunno if to color it, the jacket breaks the shoulder arm proportion, though nothing Photoshop can't solve.

Face is way too pointy and round, give a much more square jaw line, body line's way too curvy looking thanks to the jacket, and arms are way too weedy at the elbows
That is why it looks effeminate

I agree. Of course, sometimes it works out to the character's advantage. Square enix follows the effeminite look all the time!

Media related lines is basically what I mean with media schools.
I'm on my last year in Media & Communication at high-school right now.
Next will be graphical design education in the military if I get in, then graphical design at a university after that.

Nah, I'd rather say lack of creativity is more about it.
There is no such thing as good and bad. But there is such a thing as general taste which is basically what we are supposed to fulfill through our work (which of course usually is the line between good and bad you're mentioning), whilst sticking a bit out from it to make it unique.
I have a very bland taste, yet at the same time I have a taste that is quite different from the norm. But I really feel like I lack a fuckload of creativity.

I think we all start off with a lot of imagination and creativity (as kids), but lots of us lose interest in it over time. I think it's always with us though.

I'm not so sure about that.
I think it's more about what we actually find creative that changes.
When you are a kid just the thought of putting icecream on the head of a man walking upside down could be creative. When you grow up you just find it retarded and stupid.
What we find original lessens as we see and experience more and feel like (or notice that) all our ideas are already taken, and we get easily constrained to what everyone else makes and have a hard time thinking outside of those things because we have been exposed to them so much.
Creativity is basically just thinking different, making something new, but to make something you need to use something. So it's basically combining known things and making them into something new. Which is a point I have a hard time with because I don't even want to take inspiration from things, I don't want to group two ideas together to a new idea, it feels cheap.

If you want to be all theoretical and pedantic then feel free, but I can't see many of these people making a good piece of work unless they work hard at it for a long time
