One new and one repost.
Honestly I don't like the hourglass enough to see it so much :/
Kinda overdoing that hourglass repost, Alex. And Jetlit, you should seriously take photos of something that isn't just you or an overview of some scenery with post-processing slapped on. Seeing 1 million self-portraits of you the one weirder than the other just gets less and less interesting.
To contribute with something... I made my avatar today.

Eh, I haven't had much lately. I have to wait on getting my new camera replacement with a soft box, and shooting for the newspaper a lot limits me from getting stuff I actually want. I just hate taking pictures of random events that I have no interest in around the town, there's nothing over here to shoot.
^Haha, the animation is smooth.
Little bit of character practice.

Yeah, I really have to agree on the self portrait part. It reminds me of a quote I once saw on this website.
"Somewhere down the line you have to stop only taking self portraits. Other people actually exist, and you can take their picture as well. "

Oh and that's why I've only ever taken one semi-serious photo of myself for photography purposes. I personally don't think it's too special, but whatever. It's also my only photo to have distorted colors and stuff like that, and it was taken back when I was first getting into photography. Also I dislike it quite a bit for the fact it looks like something a hipster would take, but it was pretty much taken as a joke towards my reaction to semester finals.

Nice.

Well I have no other people to take pictures of right now so I just practice with self portraits.
maybe i'll take pictures of people on the street. But I live in the ghetto so... and that was serious.
Edit: I will be going to my old High school to take some pics though. Soon enough
Little story by me and a mate literally just then. Didn't think it deserved a thread
There was a boy with emerald eyes walking down the middle of the street, he had one thing on his mind only, something he had been looking forward to for a while now. Today was the day it would all come forward, the day things would finally fall into place. He was finally going to confess his greatest sin to his only guardian, his frail grandfather. The sin had only been known by two people for all of it's existance, the boy and his brother.
His brother however, could not speak of this because he is no longer amongst the living, he thought he was safe but he concience told him otherwise as he strolled to his grandfathers house. There was a darkness falling over him, more so with every step, he felt ill and his steps slowed to a halt just before the door.
He felt his heart pound as he turned the handle and the door creeked open, the sound similar to a scratched blackboard which sent chills down his spine. But as he saw his granfather he wondered if the chills where from the irritating noise, or his papi's presence. The older man turned slowly like a scene from a horror film, only there was no weapon, only a lit cigar with pink smoke. The boy inhaled and the smoke rose up into his nose, the weight lifted off him and he felt a strange sense of security. With the new found security and confidence he chose not to greet him formally but simply to get to the point, his mouth creeked open and the words came out:
"i killed my brother"
So my dad just gave me his 35 year old Olympus OM-1. To retro fit the camera for more modern batteries (as its went out of production long ago) would cost way to much, but its still a great camera to look at.

jesus, this lens is finnicky about its focus, and the camera shows the error "No lens attached!" with F/---, but I can still get it to shoot in manual mode. Just have to use the manual f-stop ring on the lens (duh) and choose my shutter speed on the camera. I need to get used to that, being a child of the automatic age :argh:
Hey what do you know. I'm starting the graphics designer education in march. I always thought I'd end up being a photographer. Well, atleast I love doing graphics aswell, so that's really fine!

The clouds were really cool looking when I took this picture like 2 months ago. But it's not really a great picture in my opinion, I'll post it here anyway.
apparently the difference between bad ratings and artistic ratings on FP is a BW conversion and a contrast slider
we also love cross-processing and fake lomography
*the more you know

anyone want to give me suggestions with this before i send it off?

It's an old photo, I know it's bad. Most of my really good stuff isn't very edited at all, but I haven't even had the time to shoot anything anymore. That's why I'm currently taking a break from shooting pictures unless it's for the local newspaper I'm currently shooting for.
[editline]12:06AM[/editline]
Also I have to do some stuff for some plays at my school, so that's why I can't do too much with photography anymore. I don't know how long this break will last for but it might take a while until I get things fixed up. But I do agree with you on that, and that's why I sort of need to take a break for a few good months before I feel ready to take photos again. I don't know why I've only been doing high contrast black and white photography lately, but I know something is seriously not right there.

3 last unedited shots taken with my point and shoot and that's pretty much it. I'll probably post new pictures when I feel like it again in about 3 months or more.

fuck the break.
that shit is all bullcrap.
Did you ever see some people do a 365 and they suck in the beginning and near the end they are so good ?
well I have, many people actually. So just keep shooting, you don't have to post everything here. and this is FP. they will shit on your posts anyways :P

Well I know that, but even before Sin's post I haven't been shooting very much lately. And my grades in my math class have gone down the shitter lately, I just need to fix things up before I feel ready again. Taking pictures when you have so much on stress on you leads to really bad stuff. And if you take a look at my scripts for the plays I have to memorize for some school plays I'm in, you'd go crazy due to the amount of pages I have to get in my head.
[editline]12:20AM[/editline]
But hey, I'll still be here for critique and stuff. I'm still going to be taking pictures for the newspaper, it just won't be anything for my portfolio. Just think of it as a short hiatus.
Taking a break is just fine, it can help, it can motivate you again, it gives you fresh ideas... Just shoot when you feel like it...
