This is ridiculous and I regret doing it.

My sister left some rather creepy self-pictures on my camera during that noir-esque shoot behind my back. You can see the setup I was working with. :raise:
I've always loved Film Noir stuff since I was little, and I have loads of great ideas. Now I just need to get my camera back and get myself a good lighting setup.
Film Noir isn't a lighting technique; if you want to research further into the lighting (It's much more than just one strong key), read up on chiaroscuro with regards to low key lighting, it goes back centuries before film, all the way back to Rembrandt

I'll probably finish this later
Not talking about this thread, but CC is really retarded today.

oh, no, I know. I mentioned earlier that it wasn't my intention in the first place, but that someone mentioned it was very reminiscent of the genre. I would like to look into it, though, so thanks for the tips :D

I know it isn't a lighting effect.

I was talking about a photo shoot inspired by the old Noir movies, I never mentioned anywhere that I thought it was a lighting technique.

trying out a bokeh shot with the christmas tree. Would have been better but I was extremely limited to space/light

I've got a neat trick for spicing up people's bokeh shots. Trace the circumference of your lens onto a sheet of paper, then cut a shape into the circle of paper. Let's say, a heart. Make sure it leaves space to the sides.
Now, either hold the paper up or secure it to your lens (a tiny rip of masking tape works without leaving residue). Make sure the shape is upside-down if applicable. Take your bokeh shot, and poof, the shape of the bokeh splotches are that of your cutout.

[editline]1:01[/editline]
intricate shapes may take some fine-tuning. Also, you need to make sure that the size of your bokehole is small enough to fit into the full shot, depending on your zoom.
I'll get some pictures up later.

bokehole
:v:
If possible, make your bokehole contraption device out of black paper. You can also make it in a cup shape so that you can just put it over your lens instead of taping.
bokehole
:v:
knew you'd get a kick out of it :v:
and yeah, making a paper loop around your camera lens and taping your bokehole to THAT will also allow you to rotate it, swap it out with others, and not get tape gunk on stuff. Good thinkin'!
Made a some kind of walk sequence in Flash CS3.
Now, don't look at the shitty ass animation, look at the lighting. :buddy:

Perspective. Look at the floor tiles, they match.

Not very creative or impressive, but I one of my friends has a band and needs a logo made, so I whipped this together in 10 mins (5 trying to get the metal, I ended up using a texture I found through google) for a band name That I "thought of" while in Burger King.
i went on a steelbook icon making rampage

I don't understand. It was in perspective (though not perfectly, nor did it need to be).
lol ratings
Snow/harbor pictures coming up as soon as Lightroom is reinstalled...
So I said to myself "Goddamn man! You need to fucking make something and not drop it!"
So I try yet again to make something. Found a portrait over at portrait-photos.org and started sketching.
There is a lot of things that are way off, but I'm quite happy with the overall look of it for being so early in progress... Though everything tends to look nice in sketch stadium and turn into shit, but hopefully not this time.

Took this yesterday, kiddo's. It's about two mins from my house. Haven't had proper snow like this in years, damn living in England!

Oh nice, love the straight horizon and how we really just look straight on the subjects in normal height in that one Sajeno, the lines from the cars really does give quite the impression, great contrasts and I think adding that big black box underneath really did the trick.
Not too fond of the snow falling down though, but eh, what can you do? The snow tracks will eventually melt from too much driving after all, and they make the picture.

I think it would look less appealing without the big black space underneath, having it there you get a more calm and defined start on the lines/subject.

Seems a bit more cluttered since it starts so suddenly and lacks the height you get in the original IMO.
