Are you doing a 365?
yerp. Mentioned it earlier, was gonna wait a few days to make a thread with a good set of starting content.

Awesome! I like the effect, really helped to fix up the image and make the dog a bit easier to see, but still looks realistic. good job :)

Messing with some ideas I had on how to paint fire/smoke. Seems pretty good so far as a quick fix. With the previous methods I used this would have taken a few hours, got this down in about 15-20 minutes.

My only problem would that the fire all seems to point to one spot and the big main puff of smoke doesn't feel right... But I can't put my finger on it. Otherwise, brilliant. The env_fire made me laugh

Also, what do you mean the fire all points to one spot?

I've looked at it a bit more and I may have misinterpreted, at first it seemed like it just all got sucked into the middle, but after adjusting my eyes a bit (I haven't been up long) it seems fine, I still stand by what I said about the smoke though

nice fire. also, I find the whole 365 project concept to be a self-destructive concept, when taken too seriously. I don't see any of today's pictures as worthy-of-posting, even on this page. [sp]at least, out of the ones I'm willing to share... the others are more than visually worthwhile, but not for artistic reasons. ;D[/sp] anyways. I'd rather miss a day and make up for it with a few pictures later on. The driving concept, at least for me, will be to get a picture FOR each day, not necessarily ON each day. Besides, I tend to have my artist's block and work overload here and there, it's inevitable. Adding the stress of having to post every day, as mentioned a while back by perfumely, can be worse for the project as a whole, both in keeping up inspiration and maintaining the portfolio.

My first attempt to simulate the tilt/shift effect in Photoshop: Click image to go to its deviation Original: [img_thumb]http://www.deviantart.com/download/130895740/Construction_Work_3_by_ParanoidFreaksStock.jpg[/img_thumb]
It looks like miniatures.
^ The point ;P
I kno
I recently found a graphic tablet a relative of mine had but never used. I wanted to see how much different it would be compared to using just a mouse alone, and it was a positive one. I only just started drawing in a serious manner 2 days ago, and the last time I ever did that was at least 10 years ago. So please pardon me if there is any serious abnormalities. How is it? This picture is of a Dolphin staring into a luminous orb, curious by it's uniqueness in a playful manner. The main point of the picture is not the detail (although I did stray to that in some points), instead I was practicing shading and lighting. And I'm not exactly sure whether I did the mouth right or wrong. But either way I am very happy with the results. I learnt a lot in the time I made this. This took 5 hours to complete within one sitting (long period is bad, I know but I just got too into it). Everything was started from complete scratch in Adobe Photoshop CS4, everything is my own work. This was my first time drawing with a graphic tablet.
another pic from the shoot the other night. flickr- http://www.flickr.com/photos/daijitsu/4245875566/ [editline]03:01PM[/editline] and green, your picture has me mixed on a few thoughts- I know someone's going to rip on the style, and I'm just going to point out I really don't like the way the mouth came out, but as far as shading, it's a good piece thus far. Not everyone understands pin-lighting, so to have done what you have in your first attempt is quite a feat. I say learn to use a few different techniques involving the photoshop layers and try again. Lock Pixels and Layer Styles in particular. Try out the methods mentioned in my old tutorial, but apply them to your picture- http://daijitsu.deviantart.com/art/Eyes-Tutorial-73220339
I honestly feel as though Creative Works should be split into Creative Photos That Aren't Threadworthy and Creative Works That Aren't Threadworthy. There are just so many photos in this thread compared to other mediums.

And the mouth is probably the largest abnormality in the picture. I have never heard of Lock Pixels, but I do create multiple layers for certain effects. I will look more into other layer styles.
I know someone's going to rip on the style,
Also someone would probably rip on the style? I'm not too certain by what you mean there. But thanks, I learned a major amount when I drew this and your comments are very helpful.
Photos take the least effort.
yeah, if you're a snapshooter walking around the house. Otherwise there's lots of preparation, money invested, travel, and dealing with real life environmental issues such as awkward lighting or bad shadowcasting. ...And thus the point stands that they should be separated. Photo junkies seem to pay more attention to other photo junkies, and mixed mediists to their own. As much as I think splitting the threads could be a good thing, I kind of like having both groups together, so they can see what everyone else is up to and get a bit of inspiration. Besides, I've been doing a lot of photo work recently, but I still love talking with photoshoppers and traditional artists because I love doing all that as well. Hell, just a few posts ago I gave constructive criticism and handed over a massive tutorial that could potentially boost the artists' workflow ten-fold. My vote in the issue is we keep together, at least for the remainder of this thread's natural lifespan. I know there's the 3d modeling thread existing all its own, so I don't see why we shouldn't make new more separated threads once the need to move on arises... but for now, I think we're doing just fine. [editline]04:23PM[/editline]
Also someone would probably rip on the style? I'm not too certain by what you mean there.
meant that someone may be a little blunt and state how much they don't like it, for one reason or another. I know how it goes when you don't draw all that often but have a style you want to pursue, and was there once myself. Glad ya learned something though, keep at it!
There's something that I just can't seem to get right about these clouds!
They're too inconsistent imo.
