I have to go to ASDA then.
What sort of resolution do they scan them as?
Currently scanning in a roll of film at my girlfriends house. The quality isn't the best but don't know if that's because of the scanner or because of the shitty off-brand roll I used. Some cool images though, will post a few later on

the size is a great reference and all, but the quality has me concerned; the severe sharpening on that grain is terrifying. does the film actually look that harsh? I'm looking at a whole bunch of examples of Ilford XP2 and it all looks buttery smooth from here
no it doesn't most of their scans are like that. gonna ask them to tone it down a little bit and scan at a higher res next time (which will be soon, just shot another roll)

here's mine... I was much more moderate with my sharpening, although some are still over-sharpened and I've refined that habit out of my editing process now. All of them are the res that the scanner spat out when you look at the originals

Scanned with the very dusty scanner my girlfriend has over at her house so I will probably scan them again if I have a scanner or when I have the time to clean hers.
Just developed my own film for the first time, but mis loaded it so it managed to tear halfway through and overlap, forcing me to have to handle the film with my hands, so I lost about 4 frames and probably smudged a few others. Regarding the developing bit they seem to have came out perfectly.

Sounds like cueball just won a bet about the success of your first film development :v:
A decentish second hand scanner will cost £30-£40, and Boots/Jessops scan to a low resolution to save time. So I would advise to buy your own scanner and save money in the long run, and also have the ability to scan to RAW.#
If you buy film on ebay you can easily get something like FP4+ for £3-£4.
all flatbeds are shite, i dont have the link available right now but even the epson v700/v750 only gives about 2500dpi there are dedicated 35mm filmscanners that give better resolution for less money but the epsons are the only real(istic) option for MF or large format film, drumscanning is to expensive to have done on a regular basis. the nikon scanners are 2k+ for a discontinued product, hassleblad flextights cost £10-15k
I'm doing a two year course in Photography starting September, we spend most of the first year using film, should be fun!
I did a bit of an overview of my TLR for B-Hazard... Excuse my voice (also I didn't plan the video so sometimes I go 'ohfuck this isn't actually going to work')

do you not have a focusing screen in tlr's?
do you not have a focusing screen in tlr's?
no, mine doesn't. I've heard that some people have modded their own focusing screens on though.
well it doesnt have to be a split prism mamiya do/did about 5 of them, you probably know about it but you can get all (well most of them) there manuals from http://www.butkus.org/chinon/index.html
do you not have a focusing screen in tlr's?
he mentions the focusing screen in the first 20 or so seconds of the video
he mentions the focusing screen in the first 20 or so seconds of the video
waylander is talking about the 'focus assisting screens' (made that name up just then), you can get screens that have special featuers that make it much easier to focus, like a split-prism (which is in nearly all manual focus slr's)
http://www.cameramanuals.org/mamiya_pdf/mamiya_645_accessories.pdf goto the focusing screens section for some learning
the Mamiya 645 and the mamiya c22 or totally different, ones a SLR and the other is a TLR, they don't even take the same film size!
(thanks for the help, but it isn't all that helpful :v:)
well that wasnt aimed at you i knew there were examples in that pdf for uber|noob but in the TLR system pdf it says they made 6 focusing screens for the c330 they look pretty similar in design so you would think it would be simple to adapt one to the c22
Dropped in a few rolls today. Should have them by Saturday.
Also handed some negatives in to be scanned, but since they're cut already it's costing a bit more :(
Also, I accidentally left 2 rolls of film in my 'checked in' luggage when I was flying back. I hear that baggage can by subjected to some pretty powerful x-rays which destroy even the lowest ISO film. Sometimes you can get lucky and it doesn't get zapped.
So I've handed one in to be developed. If it comes up blank then I'll bin the other one.
I went to a camera shop yesterday to buy a couple of filters (UV & ND), and when I showed the guy my camera he hugged me and said "I haven't seen one of those in twenty years." it was awkward, but I felt included. xD
The problem with my first roll is that they have to be done by hand. Apparently even the places that still do film developing don't do it manually. There's just some machine they run it through. I had to pay some guy extra to develop it, and he said it couldn't scan it. So I guess I'll save it for whenever I buy a film scanner, or unpack my scanner. That's a way's away, though. Also, I'm finally getting my second roll back. Finally content??? xDD

What camera are you using? When the guy at my local Snappy Snaps saw my Zenit, he was like "Whoa, I haven't seen a Zenit in years!".
Mamiya 1000 DTL.
well today i found out that the snappy snaps in edinburgh is shut, and boots do pretty low-res scans
also this is one of my favourite shots from my recent trip to london

Fuji Neopan 400CN is pretty nice, i'm actually kinda liking the colour casts that it got (it's more blue on the prints)

my bad, i see what you mean now
most of those shots are too contrast-y for my liking, I would see if you could pull that down a bit
