Quick google with the term "Buy film" came out with this: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/buy/Roll-Film/ci/2545/N/4277998830
Well thanks for that. I kept on searching for "bulk box film", and it always returned boxes of bulk film, prices seem good, too.
Subtle difference. :v: For Europe (specifically the Netherlands) there's this: http://www.fotofilmfabriek.nl/ 5 packs are the biggest they've got though, had another in my bookmarks but can't find it. They have polaroid (from the "Imposible project" ) stuff too.
Quick question, where would one find those large boxes of film?
That's just the packaging from when you buy 5-packs.
v330 is great but it only does 35mm. You can get it for about $100 USD If you want to scan medium (up to 6x9 (as small as 35mm too, of course)) get the v500. I think I paid about $200 USD for mine. I have both and would recommend either one.
Cool. Cheers mate. Do you need little inserts to slot the film in? Do they come seperately?
It comes with the holders. Basically, there is a negative-sized backlight on the underside of the lid, and the negative holder... well holds the negatives in place. You store the holders behind the removable white sheet thing that you use for normal document scanning. Both scanners are pretty much the same except the v500 has a larger backlight for medium format. My v500 Both scanners will also do 35mm slides.

I've got so much film waiting to be developed/scanned. It's costing me too much at the labs (considering the quality is so bad). They don't seem to expensive either.
i've read that the v500 automatically crops the scans using some sort of algorithm that tries to detect where the frames are, and sometimes it messes up, and you can't turn it off that true?

You can have the auto-frame-finder feature turned on (via a checkbox labelled 'thumbnails'), but if it's turned off you can manually use a marquee tool to select where your negatives are. I always like to try to crop a bit outside the negative and then crop it tighter in Lightroom.

I've seen [medium format] scans from both you and bopie and they've both been great quality. Thanks a lot guys.

It always messes it up. You put 5 frames and it only detects half of one frame as a full frame. That's why it's a piece of crap. Anyway, I've been thinking of getting a v500 as well. Getting my negatives scanned at my local photo place costs aorund $10 for a 24 exposure roll. The people actually invited me to check out their machines in the back room and for fucks sake, it only takes 5 minutes to scan and burn a CD with 24 photos on it. Why does it cost $10 for each roll? That's like paying $120/h to get your film scanned.
your probably paying for quality not the time involved, most dedicated film scanners offer much higher resolution than a flatbed but most only scan 35mm the few that can do mf/lf are very expensive and discontinued
Took a photography class in high school last year. It was an awesome experience, I appreciate film a whole lot more :) My friend doing a handgun pose.

teacher for my class says we'll be using about 25 rolls of 36exp (or 2 rolls of 24 in place of each 36 if we can't get 36 or just want to shoot more), and a 100 pack of 8x10 photo chem process paper. I went and picked up 10 36exp and 10 24exp 400TX/Tmax400, and one pack of paper. cost $200, and I have to buy my sister's supplies eventually too. hopefully my dad reimburses me for this, I bought a camera and now all this just so my sister could take the class. (Before any retouching/cropping)
I too would like to know. A scanner would be REALLY useful to have on hand, but I'm too afraid of investing in one and finding that it scans film terribly.
all of these sets are of photos scanned with my V500 with minimal editing (just a little bit of contrast boost), they're all at full resolution if you right click on the photos http://www.flickr.com/photos/jhaslehurst/sets/72157627222980695/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/jhaslehurst/sets/72157627347218802/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/jhaslehurst/sets/72157626342161739/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/jhaslehurst/sets/72157625898166189/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/jhaslehurst/sets/72157625898161853/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/jhaslehurst/sets/72157626023553232/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/jhaslehurst/sets/72157626278148856/

hand-developed my first roll yesterday, I'm gonna try to cheapo-scan it this weekend
Someone offering me Canon A1 + Canon FD 50mm f1.8 + Vivitar FD 28-85mm f2.8-f3.8 + Canon Zoom FD 70-210mm f4 + 58mm filter + Winder + Teleconverter as a set for $100. As much as I want an Olympus OM series body, this sounds too good of a deal. What do you guys think?

Finally got a chance to upload the photos from my last roll of Neopan, got quite a few nice shots I think! A bit disappointed though, as this time Snappy Snaps scanned them in much lower resolution than they did before, no idea why as well. Hopefully gonna get a scanner sometime soon. love this, is the first one the govan ferry?
The first one is about a 10 minute walk east along the Clyde from the Finnieston crane, I think the buildings in the background on the other side are vaguely near the Odeon at the Quay if that helps! Also, cheers.
Also, see in that welcome to central one, the building in the middle at the very top? See it every time I get a train, been wondering for ages how it would be possible to get into it. The top half of it seems pretty abandoned and quite cool, but there doesn't seem to be any reasonable way in. I asked a guy who owns a shop in the bottom part, he said he has no idea who owns the top. :C
not noticed it because i use low level, next time I decide to do cathcart ill take a look
Had to be done. [T]http://img189.imageshack.us/img189/2262/unled1toh.jpg[/T]
Unless it's a random snapshot at a party or something, I use all film. I'll get a picture of all my cameras soon n post up! Does anyone here do their own developing?
I'm learning to develop b/w right now, loving it. Since I'm technically a teacher at the college I could probably just continue using the wet lab for free after I finish this course

Lucky you get the lab for free, the equipment's initial cost is pretty up there! It pays for itself after some time, though. I'm not yet printing, just developing/scanning, but have a lead on a decently priced enlarger, so hopefully soon I'll be dodging n burning. [editline]6th September 2011[/editline]

Really liking these two
