Probably less than 300 usd.
I might go with the EOS 3, bopie recommended it in another thread
[editline]18th September 2011[/editline]
Thanks to you too, I'll hit up the nearest opshops.
The Eos 3 looks like an amazing camera from what I've read about it. It's basically a Canon 5DM2 + 7D but without the digital sensor
Duct tape it up to fuck. If you think you've got enough, add twice as much.
seriously?
battery shouldn't be an issue in letting light in (since it's probably designed with the fact people might change their battery with film inside the camera already), but just to be sure (and keep your battery securely inside), cover the hole with electrical tape. It's black rubber so it will stop any light from hitting an exposed crack or something, nd doesn't leave giant chunky residue like most duct tapes, obviously. So long as the battery is making connections to what it has to connect to on top/bottom, there won't be any abnormal issues.
in case you don't know what to look for in your utility drawers or whatever, it looks like this

alrighty, thank you very much.
Any suggestions on good/great Canon FD lenses that I should be looking for?
Aside from the 50mm 1.8 ofcourse
The 28mm F2.8 is an awesome lens.
but yeah pretty much all I use is my 50mm, and now my 55mm. I have a vivitar zoom, which they aren't that bad, then I have two canon zooms which are pretty fugly. You can also use canon FL lenses which aren't much different other than their automatic aperture control, I have a 28mm and a 35mm both at f3.5, which are kind of sluggish
really other than the 28mm I don't see what else you'd need except for a fixed telephoto lens. The 85mm f1.8 is pretty great.

Great lenses on Canon FD, with prices they sell for normally plus rarity:
Canon FD 15mm 2.8 fisheye, 250 euro, does not show up very often
Canon FD 17mm 4.0, 200 euro, rare on market and getting more and more expensive
Canon FD 28mm 2.0, 150 euro, shows up frequently
Canon FD 35mm 2.0, 75-90 euro, common
Canon FD 50mm 1.4, 50 euro, very common
Canon FD 85mm 1.8 or 1.2L, 120 euro or 600 euro, scarce or very rare
Canon FD 100mm 2.8, 40-50 euro, common
Canon FD 135mm 2.5 SC , 40 euro, common (I like it better than the newfd versions)
Canon nFD 200mm 2.8, 150 euro, uncommon (new fd version is sharper then the older SSC version)
And if you want long telephoto lenses, go for these ones:
Canon FD 300mm f4, 130 euro, uncommon
Canon FD 400mm f4.5, 160 euro, scarce (i would love to have this lens, it's sharper than the 300mm f4, but it's huge)
I would advice to stay away from the third party lenses except for maybe a Vivitar series 1 lens, but the rest does not even meet up to their Canon counterparts.
Bad thing in the netherlands is that there are different stores that try to buy every nice canon fd lens on the market, so if you find something nice, you have to be really quick about it.
Stores like those are www.secondhandcamera.nl and www.mkoptics.net
These prices i listed are reference for the dutch people, because i cannot guarantee these prices are normal too elsewhere, as i don't keep track of those.
Hopefully this is helpful for you.

I have a 135mm 3.5 SC for you if you want it.
We need more pictures up in this bitch.
Just shot my first "succesful" roll of 400 ISO B/W. Can't wait to have them printed.

How much do you want for it?
does anyone here own a Yaschica SLR? I've found three lenses for five bucks each or so at the local Goodwill and figure if you can pay for shipping I'd pick them up.
otherwise I'll probably just pick one up for experiments
How much do you want for it?
I think €30 incl. shipping would be reasonable as they seem to go for 30 or so normally without shipping.
Otherwise, just do me a offer :)

what kind of lenses are they? I might be interested if theyre not third party lenses.
what type of lenses are they? I don't want one, just curious.
I'll swing through and get pictures of the lens info later. They all say Yaschica on them, so I presume they're originals. Some idiot at the store sold just the camera body to someone, and knowing my town it was just some old guy who can't speak good english who wanted a nicer camera but was too cheap to spring for silly lenses. Happened to me once there, a guy was walking off with a $90 SLR body, said it was $10 so "why not", but he didn't have nor was interested in getting a lens for it. :I

You've got some nice photos!

Very interested now, would like to know what mount they are too, because yashica has used a lot of mounts over the years.

If theres any in M42 mount I wouldnt mind a look.
Checked out the Yashica lenses, they're standard Yashicon or whatever yash brand tweak they are, not third party.
50mm f/2, aperture blades move fine; $5.99
200mm f/4, aperture blades appear to be stuck at full open. $7.99
oh, and I found a 50mm 1.8 Nikkor "E series", which is a short "pancake" lens, $3.99. Works like a dream, added it to my stack of now, like, 4 god damn 50mm 1.8's that I've got after paying full price for the 50 1.8D. :saddowns:

I'm thinking of renting out my 50's to the kids in my photo class, since they've got 24-70 whatever f/4.5 kit lenses from 1990 that won't focus closer than 3 or 4 feet stuck to their rentals right now and somehow have to do a 'depth of field' assignment.
I still like the D's quick autofocus ability on my D7k though
also an old friend just dropped off a huge bag full of minolta cameras and goodies, as well as two brownie 'box cameras'. Wants me to clean them up and try to fix some jammed shutter/mirror issues. Oh look, a hipster shoulder strap :v:
oh nice that is a good Nikkor 50mm lens. The pancake one isn't quite as good as the one that's a little thicker, but still a bit sharper than the FD counterpart.
Definitely rent out your lenses, free money
the minimal focusing distance is 2ft instead of about 1.5 like the thicker 50's I've got, but they're all pretty crisp. Had to clean the fuck out of the new one, though, there was thick oily fingerprints everywhere, including on the front element of the lens despite it having a polarizer tightly stuck to the front, which also had smudges inside and out.
fuuuck, no wonder they donated it, they honestly didn't respect their equipment nor understand its value.
That's odd, most stuff I buy at goodwill is really cared for as far as photography goes. It's like they want it to go to someone who will use it but most people probably flip it for a quick buck :/
I've been tempted to flip stuff before (my landcamera is worth a ton and I bought it for 30 bucks), but I think that's half the fun is getting something you know is worth a lot and actually, you know, collecting it
that's how i feel about my 55mm. i could sell that thing for $300 easy, but i'd rather keep it because i feel so lucky that i got it in the first place.
Stop buying so many 50 1.8s and get buy 1 50 f/1.4 instead.
I've spent an average of like $5 each besides the nice D, shut up :v:
Got my viewfinder hood for my C330 just now, probably walking around campus with it tomorrow if the weather ain't shit. Hopefully my strap comes too, don't wanna borrow my Vivitar's for too long..
