film lenses are soo fun lol i have 9 lenses right now, and I spent a little over $100 for all of them. Here's my collection 28mm Canon FL f3.5 (part of $40 ebay auction) 28mm-200mm Vivitar f3.5-5.3 (part of $20 kit at garage sale, came with AE-1 program) 35mm Canon FL f3.5 (part of $40 ebay auction) 35mm-85mm f4-5.6 Minolta AF Zoom ($4 with some 90's minolta body) 50mm Canon FD f1.8 ($12 with a Canon AE-1 progam at Goodwill) 55mm Canon FL f1.2 ($30 at pawnshop in Peoria) 70-150mm Canon FD f4 ($10 at goodwill) 100mm-200mm Canon FL f5.6 (part of $40 auction) 500mm Vivitar Mirror lens f8 (part of $20 kit at garage sale, came with AE-1 program) Now that I have my 55mm I am quitting lens buying unless I get some incredible deal (with my luck I just might) I also got a nikkor 50mm lens like you dai, but it was the longer version. it was $10 at goodwill, gave it to my friend because he had a nikon camera.

What kind of Canon do you have? If it's autofocus then it can use most all EOS lenses, and if it is manual focus it will use FD or FL lenses
It's a Canon AE-1 Program.
yeah then you want to get FL or FD lenses. FD lenses are a bit newer, but they are pretty similar optically other than coatings on them.
All the lenses I have, most from my grandfather, one from my mom's Mamiya (dead unfortunately). 50mm Vivitar f1.8 (kit lens, came with the 220/SL) 135mm Vivitar f2.8 28mm Vivitar f2.5 (yes, 2.5. Only time I've seen that.) 55mm Mamiya/Sekor f1.8 40mm-85mm Telesar Hi-D f3.5 80mm-210mm Fortron f4.5 Plus another 28mm and the 55mm kit lens for the 220/SL. Which has major issues at the moment, retired it in favor of the Mamiya, added bonus of being f1.8 over the kit f2.8. Then I got the 50mm Zukio Auto-S f1.8 and a Vivitar 28mm f2.8 for my OM-G. And the 105mm for my Mamiya C330. Aside from the TLR and the 28mm for my Vivitar, I inherited all of them. Plus a stack of filters almost as tall as my TLR, and 4 or 5 flash units, grips, etc. The worst part about all of that? What I just listed off that I inherited, was less than half of what my grandfather/grandmother/Mom & Aunt owned. My uncle took(stole) the rest when my grandfather passed away years ago... Had a Brownie, more lenses, flashes, I don't even know what else. I even have the receipts to that shit. And it probably got used less than all that I have has been in the past 2 years since I learned we actually had all this stuff.

On the subject of 50mm lenses; sometimes when you look on eBay or similar secondhand websites, people are advertising slr's with the biggest lens that comes with it, but forget to tell you also get a 50mm with it. When I got my AE-1 program, I believe the ad said it contained the body +80-200mm lens. Then it came in and it had a 50mm 1.8 lens with it. It's funny that people sometimes seem to disregard one of the most useful lenses you can get with your slr(and camera in general)
I think €30 incl. shipping would be reasonable as they seem to go for 30 or so normally without shipping. Otherwise, just do me a offer :) [editline]22nd September 2011[/editline] what kind of lenses are they? [editline]d[/editline] photoshoots with a bed are tough [editline]23rd September 2011[/editline] oh, and SC from the that guy thread was boasting about spending $80 on more photo equipment last night, even telling someone "dude.. if you're going to be the shit.. you need the gear to back up your skills..." and going through the usual money=talent run I showed up and mentioned I spent $3.99 on the 50 1.8. He's been talking about buying some crazy 2.8 zoom lens as of late and boasting about how much of a "whore for bokeh" he is, so when he asked "WHAT!! pics or it didn't happen.. as in... pics of you using that lens... I wanna see what kind of results you get..", I gave him some bokeh "I'm not a slut for bokeh... I'm easily intimidated when I see bokeh in their pics... @.@.."

[editline]23rd September 2011[/editline]
oh, and I found a 50mm 1.8 Nikkor "E series", which is a short "pancake" lens, $3.99. Works like a dream, added it to my stack of now, like, 4 god damn 50mm 1.8's that I've got after paying full price for the 50 1.8D. :saddowns:
Where do you find such things?!
I find film provides better quality and a faster rate-of-picture-taking or whatever that is called. I am no photography expert, sorry. I find digital camera are good for taking lots of pictures over time due to large storage capacity in the memory card, though.
That's a very provocative statement Mr. DangerStranger.

[editline]23rd September 2011[/editline] Wow, Fujifilm Superia 200 is grainy as fuck.
I scan myself, and so do a few others around here. There isn't any shame in having a lab/store do it, though learning how to properly scan negatives yourself will teach you alot and give you more control over quality and how your pictures will look. Also, Superia is generally considered pretty shitty, but I've seen people get good results before, such as yourself. :)
Do you guys scan your own negatives?
Most of my 35mm I send in to snapfish, which does a decent job for uploading to Facebook, without paying for the higher resolution images. But I do have my negatives, which I may grab when I go home from Uni and bring em back with me. My library here has 2 Epson v600's for student use, so I may go and re scan all of my better pictures. 120 film (once I actually get to use this camera) I just found a place that'll develop, I can just get the negatives and scan 'em with those v600s. I think I'll need a bigger flash drive though, I filled up quite a bit last time. 120 film scans will be so much worse.
Yeah, but I just moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon and I had the local photography shop develop and scan onto a CD. $7 :/ [editline]23rd September 2011[/editline]
My library here has 2 Epson v600's for student use, so I may go and re scan all of my better pictures.
That's a superb idea!
I still haven't got a scanner and have tons of film negatives. This is pissing me off.
I still haven't got a scanner and have tons of film negatives. This is pissing me off.
Me too, i still have a lot of film to scan, and i even got a Canon Canoscan 9000F for it. But i was not satisfied with the image quality and general softness (of the scanner that is, it looked like the focus was off slighty) and i returned the scanner. Pity is that the flatbed scanners do never match up to their stated DPI values when scanning film. For example, the 9000F had 9600DPI, but effective resolution was only 1700 DPI, which is like 4 megapixels. I find that not so good. The best flatscanner you can get (epson V750 pro) also "just" has a effective resolution of 2300DPI, which is better, but it states to have 6400DPI, and it costs 3 times as much as the canoscan 9000F. I am considering to buy a dedicated filmscanner; those have like 4000DPI, and that's also their effective scanning resolution. 4000DPI is like 20 megapixels, and ofcourse not every film around has that effective resolution, but it's very handy for editing the pictures. Too bad most of the dedicated filmscanners are really expensive, but i think i found one that isn't
Handed in 6 rolls of film to be developed yesterday. Should get them back by Monday. Expect shots.

I forgot to turn down the dpi which was on 12800 I think. I got a 1.22 GB file which turned out to be 645 megapixels. I find that a bit ridiculous. I was wondering why the file was so big and then I had a holy shit moment when I saw the resolution.

So I'm playing around with my newly cleaned and fixed ME Super, the light meter always seems to either read over or under. If it reads over, I'll adjust the shutter and/or aperture. Then it'll read under. Never seems to be in-between. If for once it is, I'll move a bit then it'll be right back to over or under....
Is it still at least somewhat in the middle? Or is it completely over or under?

Are you the one on the right?
Hey guys, just bought a Chinon CP-9AF on craigslist for $45. Doing a bit of research, it's not worth much, but I started messing around with it, and it looks promising. It's my first camera, and I wanted to get into film, so I might make better investments someday. I don't even know where to start really. lol I need to get some film. Do any of you guys use lomography?
