So my campus doesn't have a dark room, where do you guys develop your film?
Home, or if I'm shooting color, the camera shop/ professional developing place.
Don't get prints, just scan the negs and you save $
filters as in color filters for b/w, or just filters all in general, like warming/cooling, polarized, etc? I could explain some basics
All filters in general if you can, please.

I went to my friend's 21st birthday party on her farm. Shot a roll of film during the daylight hours. This is one of them :)
I love the contrast between nature and the people. Makes them really stand out. Good use of space above them too. I like it.
i'm having a hard time finding fd/fl lenses for my canon.
any specific place i should look, or should i stay with ebay or amazon?
pawn shops usually have a billion of them in their camera cases if they have them. Much more than nikon F mount lenses, I tell you that.
[editline]27th September 2011[/editline]
also I'm working up a blog entry on camera filters if you don't mind waiting on that

garage sales, craigslist, ebay, GOODWILL, pawn shops.
FD and FL lenses are sooo cheap as well. Ebay is probably the most expensive place to get them, but you can always find what you are looking for.
alrighty gentlemen, thank you.
also, daijitsu, don't mind waiting at all. thank you for taking the time to write one up.

Love this shot, It gives me that "I just woke up let me drink my coffee in peace " feeling. Also if it were me I would've cropped out a bit more of the right side of the photo, as it does seem a bit distracting to have half your frame as the subject and half of the frame as blank space.
I think it gives the picture a bit of room. The spaciousness is nice.

I think what I enjoy the most about this photo is how happy your friends look.
I just bought two rolls of Velvia 100 and one roll of Ilford 400.
Can someone tell me why the Nikkor E-Series 50mm lens wouldn't work on my FM2n? The aperture ring wouldn't rotate properly. I think it has something to do with it not being an ALS (AIS?) lens.

the e-series lenses were designed pre-1977 (when the build of canera was started and began ise if the AIS lenses, and were compatible with the FM2 but requires "stop-down metering" to function properly. Basically, set it to the aperture you want to shoot at and hold down the DOF preview lever-

the small, shiny black plastic lever built into the side of the lens mount on the body.
holding it down, you'll get a proper reading for that aperture.
which if any uk highstreet stores can develop non c41 black & white in house? boots have a 2 week turn around because they send it to another lab, i know of a few reasonably local labs who can obviously handle b&w, 120 but its a pain to use them on a single roll

the snappy snaps here in glasgow does black and white, but as far as i'm aware snappy snaps just sort of buys up labs and puts their own name on them, so there's no guarantee that what one of them offers can be done in another one
send it to b-hazard

I never understood the DOF preview lever. When I do it at F22 things get dark. When I do it at F2, the view doesn't change at all.

it's physically closing up the aperture. Yes, it gets dark, but that's why the aperture USUALLY stays open when you're focusing and whatnot. When you use the preview, closing the aperture also shows the affect to your depth of field. Useful for checking the final outcome of your aperture settings ahead of time, or in an instance like if you've got two subjects you want equally focused and can't just use the central split-focus to balance between them.
The darkness is compensated for by your shutterspeed being longer, but obviously you can't really change your eye's shutterspeed when previewing stuff
Alright, do you guys develop color film at your home? I know that B/W is much easier to do but do any of you do color reversal film?
Alright, do you guys develop color film at your home? I know that B/W is much easier to do but do any of you do color reversal film?
Really, the only hard part about color is it reacts more to temperature. If you have a good thermometer, and can assure you're temperature is going to stay pretty much the same through the whole processing, it's really no different from B&W. Currently I do not process color, as I'm more interested in B&W, but I can see myself getting into it later when I decide to change my focus up, and I will deff process my own.

you seem to not be appreciating how accurate the temperature needs to be, a 0.1c variation (in ~4mins if I remember correctly) can fuck over the colours, due to the separate dye channels. you need full-on climate control stuff for it to remain perfect.
apparently my old nikon FE will self-meter any length of time it wishes, whether it has the time set on the dial. I was taking some star pictures tonight, doing 25 second exposures with my digital... and then I realized that I could only set up to 8 seconds via the dial, and with the stars out I REALLY didn't want to hand press and hold the shutter button for however long I'd need... then I realized I had 400iso film and my digital was set to 1600... so I thought 'fuck it' and set it to auto and let 'er rip. 80 second exposure at f/4 on a 28mm, I really hope it turns out
can't find one around here, but I know there's gotta be one for cheap at ONE of the antique places I hit up in wisconsin
I know where one is, only problem is it's attached to a really expensive foldout camera and is on display, the lady thinks it's an inseparable part of the package and hell if I'm paying $300 for a display piece just to get the functional bit. I may collect cameras but I'm not ready for expensive stuff, just expensive stuff that's been priced down by someone who didn't research it. Then I feel happy with a deal.
[editline]e[/editline]
ah fuck it I'll drop the 4 bucks on ebay. I rather my money go to cool shop owners who end up giving me deals on stuff, but I can skip buying a cheeseburger tomorrow
Have another 1... or 3 :)

Loaded up my AE-1 Program, going to shoot some film with my 55mm lens. I wish the film was like iso 50 though, it's 200 :/
Hopefully it comes out decently, it has severe light leaks from lack of foam but I put electrical tape on the outside, should keep it safe from most of them I'm hoping.
