you seem to not be appreciating how accurate the temperature needs to be, a 0.1c variation (in ~4mins if I remember correctly) can fuck over the colours, due to the separate dye channels. you need full-on climate control stuff for it to remain perfect.
That's exactly what I said. It reacts more to temp... Furthermore, you are missing the point. It's not impossible, and you don't need 'full-on climate control', it just takes a good process. I'll start you off with one: http://www.defocus.net/c41.html
This scanner is really cool: http://www.google.com/products/catalog?client=ubuntu&q=Nikon+Coolscan+V&oe=utf-8&cid=17350800685419856449&ei=NwaGTr2RL4eEiwSPr9G-Dg&ved=0CBYQrRI But do you think 2700 dpi is good enough?
This scanner is really cool: http://www.google.com/products/catalog?client=ubuntu&q=Nikon+Coolscan+V&oe=utf-8&cid=17350800685419856449&ei=NwaGTr2RL4eEiwSPr9G-Dg&ved=0CBYQrRI But do you think 2700 dpi is good enough?
It says it is 7200DPI, but who knows what the effective resolution is. I reckon not 7200DPI. But anything around 3000DPI effective will give you a very good edit-able picture (for instance, a canon 9000F does 1700 effective resolution, and that is just 4 megapixels). I found a review on this scanner that says it has 3250DPI, that's about 14 megapixels, so that is very good, better results than ANY flatbed scanner would give you. (the Epson V750 pro only does about 2300DPI effective...) So unless you need to scan medium format, this scanner is a very good buy. Forgot to add the review link: www.filmscanner.info/en/PlustekOpticFilm7600i.html

Hey guys, for those of you who have a scanner, what sort or resolution do you usually scan your negs at?
Hey guys, for those of you who have a scanner, what sort or resolution do you usually scan your negs at?
iirc yo have a V500, that has a maximum 'real' resolution of 1900dpi, so I go the nearest option that's above that (2400dpi). make sure to be in 'professional' mode and set the histogram yourself.
Sorry for spamming this everywhere, but I've just got my first roll of film developed. And it's pretty much the first photos I've ever taken with a SLR. And, surprise surprise, everything is taken outside of auto-mode. This first one is the only photo that I've edited, and the only thing I did was rotating and cropping it. The rest are completely unedited.
