How expensive is cross-procesing over there? [editline]8th October 2011[/editline] Here it's about a million per roll.
How expensive is cross-procesing over there? [editline]8th October 2011[/editline] Here it's about a million per roll.
Depends on what shop you got to. At that one in particular, it was the same price as a B&W roll. Around $11 (Canadian) The reason I got it cross-processed is that it would've cost even more to get it processed in E6. It also would've taken 2 months to get the film back, instead of 3 days.
will minilabs give a similar effect?
will minilabs give a similar effect?
Cross processing is simply using the E6 on C41 or the other way around. Some films take to it better than others, I forget the good ones now, haven't done it in a while. Minilabs, or drugstores usually only have C41 processing, so shoot some slide film and tell them to develop it. It should turn out ok. I've only had it done by pro labs, but heres a quote on someone doing it at home, claiming the times are the same:
I quite happily process C41 and E6 film in the same tank at the same time and experience no problems with the negative film. You may read that E6 should be over-exposed (from it's nominal rating) when destined for cross-processing. I've not found this to be the case.
http://photo.net/film-and-processing-forum/005azW
so if I shot E6, and handed it to a minilab, they would crossprocess without consequence?
odd, around here you'd have a horde of kids surrounding you asking how much it cost and thinking you're cool because they think it's like the newest most expensive thing ever
Maybe I just think too highly of my peers but I think they're past that stage and onto the "what the fuck are you doing, stop trying to impress people with expensive shit" stage [editline]8th October 2011[/editline]
Sorry for spamming this everywhere, but I've just got my first roll of film developed. Looking into finding a Polaroid back for my Pentax 67. It will take Fuji instant films, too. I guess the hard part is installing it.
Looking into finding a Polaroid back for my Pentax 67.
For test shots before an actual shoot or just for the fun of it? With instant films becoming more rare, I'd think to find one for cheap not too hard? ... optimism aside, that photo is nicely composed. haha

optimism aside, that photo is nicely composed. haha
Just for the fun of it. I'm aware that the pro's back in the day used the Polaroid backs simply to test their light, sometimes even with a separate, dedicated body. I just like the idea and have the funds set aside for experiments like this. Fuji is selling ten 3.25 x 4.25" color exposures for about $8.00 a pack and thus seems like a worthwhile experiment/adventure. The hard part is finding information about installation and parts, but I've already sent out some emails.
Sexy
Just for the fun of it.
I agree, I love experimenting with cameras & films. We're on the same page. Comin primarily from a painting background, I always feel the need to experiment with my images. I did train with some guys who legitimately used polaroid backs a few years ago, which is why I asked, though.
I got my first three rolls developed. A lot of them were results of me not knowing how to use my camera, but I enjoy these ones.
What? He charged you for something he couldn't do? I kinda think that should be the other way around.
Well, I told him the colors weren't right, so I had to pay him to do it again.
I bought that Polaroid back. Turns out mine didn't come with a hinge let alone the quick release, so I had to ghetto it up. There is barely any information on these things, meaning there was a bit of poking and prodding. After peeling back the leather, I found 5 screws that remove the hinge/back, this would have actually been really simple if the seller had included the original hinge. I took some old headphones and cut them up for the cord, and tied it through the holes where the pin would go through the hinge on the back, and tied that onto the neck-strap anchors on the camera body. Seems to hold tight, which it needs to be to hold the counter in place to trick the camera into thinking it has film in it, in order to cock the shutter. I'll trim them later, after I'm happy the knots are tight. It's 4am and I only bought ISO 100 film (40 exposures for $30, I might get some ISO 3000 BW film that Fuji also makes in this size), so this test shot is really unsharp (f/2.5 1/30 105mm) but hey, it works. I guess the time between pulling the shot out, and peeling it apart is the developing time, which can lead to varying results. I can't wait to put this set up through the paces. Definitely taking this with me on my trip to LA next week, though it might throw up a red flag or two at the airport. :v:
I was just given a Canon T70 and a telephoto lens... seems pretty decent after having a look. (not my photo - ergh!) However all the film I can find has expired back in 05. If I use it will the colours just be muted?
no, they will be hip
