Finally finished my first roll of 120! Gotta go get it developed before 3pm now...
Finally finished my first roll of 120! Gotta go get it developed before 3pm now...
haven't you had a Mamiya CXXX TLR for months now?
haven't you had a Mamiya CXXX TLR for months now?
Maybe a month now. Problem is I don't get out every day with it, and I'm also very picky about shots, especially when guessing on the light. I only got my light meter last weekend. Between classes and everything else at college, I do as much as I can with photography.

I got another Urbex roll developed. Heres a few I liked Urbex - Gateshead College 14/10/11 by CommunistWolf, on Flickr Urbex - Gateshead College 14/10/11 by CommunistWolf, on Flickr Urbex - Gateshead College 14/10/11 by CommunistWolf, on Flickr
The first one is really great.
Finished a roll of Velvia 100F friday. I tried to wind it back, but for some reason the film release reverted back to it's locked position. The film broke off the cartridge. Wondering what happened I opened the camera back, without thinking twice about it. Probably the dumbest thing I've done in quite a while.
If theres one thing I don't like about film is that I keep ending up with a dozen or so to develop before I have a chance to take them down.

yeah film is really temperamental. i want to get into it more, but the whole process is just really costly, considering i have to spend out of pocket to see my pictures, unlike digital. but i have a cheap alternative to it that i have crafted if you go to goodwill and look at the cameras, a couple of them will have old film in them. just try and wind it up (most are like crappy 90's digital so it might not wind itself), or just rip it out and it will have a couple exposures left near the end of the roll. then you get quality film with only a few pictures, making developing cheaper!

I basically only shoot film, and as a result I know my gear fairly well. Because I know it so well, occasions of unexpected-ness are few and far between.
well yeah you only shoot film. but is it easier to shoot film or digital? which has more consistent results?
well yeah you only shoot film. but is it easier to shoot film or digital? which has more consistent results?
It sounds really fucking pretentious, but film and digital are different ways of shooting, certain formats will suit certain styles and situations. Sure, digital is more consistent, I wont disagree there, but I think it gets consistent to the point where all your shots are so sterile and clinical, without any character (for me, at least).
oh no i definitely agree with you, they are completely different. But it just frustrates me how much film i've ruined trying to get a single digital picture, especially considering my film lenses swap onto my digital outfit and take stellar shots there too.
film i've ruined.
you have to accept losses as part of the learning curve. [editline]18th October 2011[/editline] I went through four rolls before I realized the shutter-speed knob was re-attached incorrectly after getting my 67 back from repairs. I thought the lab was fucking up/I was scanning wrong, but it turns out I was CRAZY overexposing. 1/1000 on the dial was actually 1/250. I was able to figure out how far off the knob was by dry firing on different settings until I hit 'bulb.' I should have caught on earlier, but I didn't. It was a huge loss that wasn't even my fault, but I got experience from it and learned about how my equipment works. Just keep plugging along, don't drop film completely.

I guess I should go into shit fits for losing just one roll. When you say your 67, do you mean a Pentax 67? If so, how is it? :D Also, currently trying to a roll of Ilford SFX 200 IR B&W film. I really wonder how it's gonna look like.
next assignment, 4 rolls of 36, each following a specific subject: day-outside, day-inside, night-inside, manual/long exposure. we can't mix/match rolls at all, each has to be one set theme, and I've only got two weeks to shoot develop and print it all. rrgh, this'll be tough to find time for, given I can't pull myself to shoot a full roll in a single go, and I have to wait til I finish one theme to hit the others, so days will pass when I could be shooting night stuff at night and junk.

Got 5 rolls developed today. Including the roll I shot as a test over month ago. Not that many of them I liked the look of. Awesome, thanks man. I just got my Tom Waits - Bad As Me vinyl in and it has loads of photographs in the lyrics-sheet and I think they're all analogue and I'm quite sure they're all by Anton Corbijn, they're beautiful.

I only got 10 on my last roll... Dunno what that was about.
