Instead of her usual not-paying-attention-mode reaction of saying "yeah... mmhm... maybe dodge this a little/add a second or two to your time/increase the contrast filter, etc", and telling you "it's OK", she just stopped, and looked. And looked. After a few seconds, she then said to herself under her breath, "...it's like a warm, summer day. Wow...", then handed it back to me and said "this is great, keep it up" I felt all tingly from getting a reaction like that.
Does your teacher speak in artsy metaphors?

How do you think an aquarium is going to show up on 400 speed film with a lomo lc-a+? I hope it really lights up the tanks and silhouettes the people. If it gave them a nice blue glow that would be best

In regard to the discussion of Superia 200, It's really really really shit film. The colours are way off, the grain is horrid, etc. I hate using it because of that. BUT, when you take photos with the whole hipster style, those attributes can work to your advantage, making the film good for what you do. (The film is still shit though)

I've also seen a lot of good results from Kodak Portra 160 if you need omething sorta near the middle. [editline]4th November 2011[/editline] I think it's pretty clear which one has the more accurate colours ektar http://www.flickr.com/photos/jhaslehurst/tags/kodakektar/ el cheapo ultramax http://www.flickr.com/photos/jhaslehurst/tags/kodakultramax/

Well, just ordered two rolls of Ektar 100. Was going to order the portra 400 but it only comes in bulk of 5 and I don't really have the need for that much film right now plus it's expensive as dicks
Wait wait wait, so are we living in some alternate reality where Velvia 50 and 100 don't exist anymore?
Wait wait wait, so are we living in some alternate reality where Velvia 50 and 100 don't exist anymore?
We're living on planet earth where getting slide film processed is expensive as fuck, and Ektar is a perfectly good subject in the overwhelming majority of cases.
Sextar.
Wait wait wait, so are we living in some alternate reality where Velvia 50 and 100 don't exist anymore?
that sounds too much velveeta and I hate that cheese and everything anyone ever makes with it ever

And what film would you recommend at a good price because all i've seen is 1 roll of kodak or something for like £12 and thats damn expensive
the white balance looks way out in your shots, and the black / white points seems to be way too low and high respectively (not enough contrast). I buy all my stuff online, No idea about the UK but I normally go through http://freestylephoto.biz/ or http://www.bhphotovideo.com/
I see, well I'm always looking to improve and always open to constructive criticism so i'll get right onto purchasing some new decent film. What film would you recommend?
see my posts above. [editline]4th November 2011[/editline]
Personally, the only films that I bother with are Kodak Ektar 100 (for iso 100) and Kodak Portra 400 (for iso 400).
see my posts above. [editline]4th November 2011[/editline]
Oh my bad, must have missed that. Thanks man
The cost of black and white developing and scanning to a CD is £12.98 per roll, this is a 24 hour service. The files are jpeg and approximately 18mb each.
WAHHHHHHHHHHHH
that is a hell of a lot. But for 18mb a photo they must be scanning the negs as high quality as it goes
I'd like to see how that turns out. I'm assuming it was a public aquarium?
yeah, the Monterey Bay Aquarium its p great, they had a baby great white shark in the tuna tank once, but it started eating the tuna so the released it to the wild. Its also the place where they thought of putting the octopuses food in jars to keep them busy.
find a small lab to develop any b&w places like boots just send it out and you dont know what quality your going to end up with, if you live in the north west http://www.cheshirephotolab.co.uk/index.htm are recommended by everyone i asked but they are rather expensive fuji reala is supposed to be nice colour film, i have a roll of exposed 120 in my fridge i cant be bothered getting developed
Got my argus today, something seems amiss though. I've only ever done 120 film before, on 35mm it feels like the film winding knob isn't advancing it enough to get the last exposure out of the way for the next.
the film winder on the argus is a bit shitty and on mine the frame counter doesnt work, are you remembering to move the film catch when you start winding the next exposure? http://www.butkus.org/chinon/argus/argus_c-3/argus_c-3.htm and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWLOACKrWqE should be useful

I imagine these first rolls are gonna suck, trial by fire though. EDIT: My film catch feels kind of loose, is it meant to stay in place when I push it over?
mine doesnt, i havnt used it for a while but you can tell when its wound to the next frame iirc there is a definite change in tension, i think that video explains it
Alright, I get inducted to use the uni darkrooms on the 23rd but I will get inducted sooner thanks to my lecturer pushing the doods in charge. Need to ask him about scanning, but will be saving loads thanks to this and I get experience developing too. HURRAH

They notice an increase in sales and shark awareness whenever they have a baby so they try to get them often now. Though that one was found dead shortly after release.
shot, developed, and printed today all in one day
