I have a Nikon FE-2 and I really want to get it working, but I just can't seem to get the camera to know that it has film in it. And every-time I would try to take a photo the mirror behind the lens would lock up. Any ideas on how to fix this?

The person had it repaired, professionally. The idiot probably took it to the beach and had sand get into the body (the shutter was broken). Everything is currently in working order. $150 for that and a bunch of useless extras (a camera bag, 2 shitty macro lenses, 4 macro filters, a polarizing filter, a softening filter, and one of those magnifying slide viewers). After buying it I immediately took it to the local photography store to buy a body cap. I also scored a free camera strap (one that can hold 35mm film canisters on the strap) :).
[img_thumb]http://gyazo.com/209110bc4307f974f00c4fcf9b1a0699.png[/img_thumb] I just realized last night the strap on my dad's old pentax [bottom of the picture] is the same cyan as my website/business cards, and that I needed a strap on my FE anyways, so... hooray sticking to a style. It has 2 canister holders, but they're a little loose from being 25 years old. [editline]1:11[/editline] /sexjoke [editline]1:11[/editline] also I suggest finding an eyecup for it if you have glasses, I'm definitely noticing new scratches on my glasses from it. I need to renew my prescription like a year ago anyways, so once I get the cup I'll take care of that :v:

amazon.com bought the DK 3, though it seemed to be the only one. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00007EDYD dk 4 and the dk 19 look good though http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-DK-19-Eyecup-rubber/dp/B000A6EXNO/ref=dp_cp_ob_p_title_1 the cup is shipping slow as hell and won't be here til the 10th apparently, but I just got in the mail today my DK 22, which is an adapter that lets me use the eyecup on my D7000
Eyecups are for sore wieners. I don't want to pay :10bux: for a piece of rubber. :(

Any time champ.
well that was awkward
my prints FINALLY came back from processing, been 2 weeks. The shop called me at 6:50 to tell me it came in, and they closed at 7 today. Fuck you, guy on phone. Fuck you.
I gave me Ektar 100 film for processing yesterday, going to get the scans back today. Really excited how these will turn out compared to the b&w I was photographing before.
Ektar 100 is beautiful. I also recommend Portra, but that takes a bit of mastery in the way you expose it versus the idiot-proof-always-sexy Ektar. I'm still having trouble with it.
Wow, haven't seen this thread since 1999.
Wow, haven't seen this thread since 1999.
Medium format and large format film still outperforms digital.

Stupidly, the scanner has cut off the sides (on the left and right of the image) - so it doesn't look as good as the negative would imply.
I'm looking at ways to scan in film best right now without requiring a scanner. Testing' a nice and easy method but requires off-camera flash.
Decent filmscanners are always so expensive. ;(
Epson V500 for life :v:
Epson V500 for life :v:
Seems like a great scanner. Might buy it used if they are still available. The thing that kind of keeps me from using my 35mm camera's more is that I'll have to get them developed. First of all, that's expensive and second, they do a really shitty job at it. And it takes some time so a scanner would be great for me
Ah, I just picked up 2 rolls of film from the store, but they 'couldn't' scan it because the images are over the sprockets. Does anyone know how I can scan the negs in on an epson with the sprockets?

Cheers dude. I'll have to give it a try next time I'm on campus.

Maybe a dumb question, but I don't nearly have the knowledge compared to shooting digital: Let's say I bought that Epson V500 scanner and wanted to scan some photos I took with my Pentax ME Super. Could I take the roll directly from the camera, cut it in pieces and scan them? Or do I need to take them to a store to develop them before I can scan them myself.
You must develop them, which costs like 0.5$ where I live. Then you can scan it with your Epson.
take the roll directly from the camera, cut it in pieces and scan them
That would be so nice. But yeah, you drop off the roll and get negatives back, and you scan those. You can most likely have them scan it to a CD or get prints too.

No detail whatsoever in the shadows, lots of dust and to top it off, it was also pretty expensive. Hmm kind of doubting wether I should buy a scanner or not. For the money I could also get that Canon speedlite 430 EX II
