I'm considering buying my own dev tank, even if I'm only using it at the college lab. the ones at the school are absolute shit, and all of the rubber lids are chewed up to hell and back from people forcing them onto the top but not fitting it down right. Most of them leak like a sieve, and take 20-30 seconds to even get them to firmly mount onto the tank which makes me nervous since the first 30 seconds of most of the steps involve agitating the chemical around the tank so that it gets on the film nice and evenly
Something like this: Developing Tank by John Gramza, on Flickr

one of these buggers- has a rubber cap (red), and the top cover sits around the top lip of the main cup and the big red ring gets pushed down on it so that it tightens and seals. also the film reels are plastic
my film arrived (sorry for the shitty phone pic, it's the best digital I've got...)
shitty phone pic? I honestly would not have guessed.
shitty phone pic? I honestly would not have guessed.
the flickr android app had some colour correction filter thing that seemed alright... The saturation is totally over the top and so is the contrast; it looks totally oversharpened but at the same time soft. I'm totally overthinking it :v:

So.. I'm thinking about buying a Canon AE-1 just for fun and since I've found it pretty cheap (like 50$ with 3 lenses) but i have no experience at all with film cameras, so i was wondering if you could help me with a couple of questions i've been having about it.. first of all, is the Canon AE-1 a good camera to start of with? (I'm using a 1100D otherwise) What kind of scanner do i have to use to get the images into my computer? How do i develop the images (send them in or could i go to some store and do it there?), and do i have to do it even if i just want to get them to the computer? How much does a typical film roll cost?

And What I've heard is that the Canon AE-1 is a good camera. To get them to your computer you give it to a shop who will develop it and scan it onto a CD for you. And film can be a few pound to alot For example Kodak Colorplus is £1 But Kodak Ektar is £4 or more depending on the shop
yo Dai, if I write an OP with all of these repetitive questions answered can you edit it in? I reckon in the last few pages we have answered the same 2 or 3 questions numerous times.
the ae-1 is a great camera, with 3 lenses at $50 that's a steal. pick it up
On a different note I'm giving up fixing the zenit saying I lost a spring and can't change shutter speeds So I'm buying another 12XP
burn everything south of that Ektar
I just keep the ColorPlus in case of emergency or if I go urbexing where I use it at ISO 400 or 500, or if I have no money for more film

I've once again contacted the ebay seller who sells cameras and related items, I'm interested in his 50mm 1.4 but have a 50mm 1.8. I'm asking him if i could send my 50mm to him so that it could reduce the price of the 1.4 as i obviously won't need two 50mms. I also offered to send a nikon EM and 70-210mm lens in there too. What do you think, too cheeky? I thought it was worth a try.
Could anyone tell me what kind of chemicals I need to develop film and to make prints? And is this film-dependant?
