50mm f1.4 chrome nose
oh baby.
I'm so sorry for your loss
oh baby.
hoping for less CA than my 55mm f1.2 lens, because they weigh about the same so i wouldn't really have a lot of use for it.
might be dumb, but do you guys edit your photos if you shoot film? Or are these all straight out of the camera
might be dumb, but do you guys edit your photos if you shoot film? Or are these all straight out of the camera
It's impossible to get film photographs 'straight off the camera' if you're displaying them on a computer screen. The photographs will be edited to some respect since the process of scanning the negatives is selective i.e. the tonal and dynamic range, colours etc. need to be converted into a digital format. But to answer your question in short, in my case, yes. I usually sharpen the images a little (sometimes when you're scanning the negatives in they're unevenly raised above the scanning surface, which can lead to some blurriness), and the standard levels, curves and colour adjustments on all of my shots. Some more; uploading a lot of these photographs as I go and don't want to post again in the creative photography thread. I post mine mostly straight from the scans I get from the developer, unless they are very underexposed then I give it a bit of a touch up

I often have to do quite a bit of editing due to how badly Jessops under/over expose my photos while scanning them. Really need to buy my own scanner.
Got my roll :D
I really need to work on my focus its just so hard any tips?
It can be difficult sometimes. I still get the focus wrong - especially for candid shots in which you only have a second or so before the scene fades into something else. And for a camera in which you need to wind the film on again, it can be too late to take a second shot. It's all just practice though. What sort of focusing system do you have?
All manual.
Sorry, I should have explained it better. I've forgotten what the different types are off the top of my head, but I meant whether it has those 2 semi-circles you line up, or the hexagons which you have to make clear etc. My point was that depending on what camera it is and what type of prism is involved you need slightly different techniques to ensure accurate focusing.

If you tell us which camera you have we can give you more of a hand.
If you tell us which camera you have we can give you more of a hand.
Well its a Vivitar V2000 with the original lense if it helps |:
I was thinking of getting a Vivitar at one point. Well this is from the manual 1. The entire screen will go from a blur to sharp focus. This allows you to focus quickly in situations where you don't have time for "fine tuning" of the focus. 2. The outside ring of the "donut" in the center of the viewfinder will shimmer or appear partially broken and become sharp when you achieve focus. This is one of your "fine tuning" focusing aids, which is especially useful with long telephoto lenses and the viewfinder is not as bright 3. Inside the "donut" is a split image rangefinder which separates the subject horizontally and aligns it when in focus.
One thing I've done with that type of viewfinder is to point it at some text to focus it. When it looks the most legible, then it's in focus. Practice by focusing on things in your room, there's really no better way to get the hang of it than to just do it over and over, and just move the focus ever so slightly both ways when you think you have it, just to check.
I love this quote from Tom Tigers website, it really sums up why I use film and a Zenit or three. I call for a return to Honest and Pure photography with no automatics to disturb the creative process. A lightmeter? Allright, so that has electronics. But use a handheld. or an uncoupled meter. Take more than one reading, use a greycard and make up your own mind. Then you determine the light. You control the light. Don't let the camera control you, that is wrong! You bought the damn thing! You should control it! If you think that you need more light, then open up that lens! Even if it goes wrong, you can say I've done that, I've learned from it. You can't say that with an automatic program.

scanner's in and I've been at it for like 12 hours straight got to a few severely overexposed shots from my TLR, one of them almost entirely undiscernable in natural light, so I scanned it [t]http://i56.tinypic.com/14eclfr.jpg[/t] cool double exposure, but I seriously don't remember either of these shots.
This is why I love Indians that sell camera. I was walking down today with my friends and I went into a camera shop and I brought my Vivitar V2000 along. Well the guy let me try lenses to see if K-mount fits but they were new lenses so not suitable for my camera however he is going to check to see he has old lenses for me. :D
Can someone remind me about how many shots I should be getting on a roll of 120 film? 6x6 camera. I could've sworn it was 12. Checked wikipedia, and yea, should be 12. Why then does every roll I put through my Mamiya only produce 10 shots. And oddly, as far as I can remember, the negs start on 1 with the first image I took (I'm pretty sure) and ends at 10. But the winder goes to 12... Checked the negs again, actually think I'm missing the first 2 shots. Anyone got a clue as to why maybe this happens? Am I not starting the film properly? Wow I feel dumb. I loaded it wrong. Used to 35mm trying to get an extra shot or two on the film, didn't realize quite how far I had to reel it...
Well my Zenit TTL has bit the dust, two down about 12million to go Also Lomo 800 film isnt as bad as people make it out to be Camp Site by CommunistWolf, on Flickr South Shields - From the Pier by CommunistWolf, on Flickr South Shields - From the Pier by CommunistWolf, on Flickr South Shields - From the Pier by CommunistWolf, on Flickr South Shields by CommunistWolf, on Flickr Urbex - Gateshead College by CommunistWolf, on Flickr The Colour of the sea is amazing with this film (maybe because I have never took a photo with the sea in it)
just had a thought; would anyone here be interested in doing a film swap? i.e. each person shoots a roll of film (preferably underexposed by 1 stop), rewinds it and mails it to the other person without telling them what's on it, then they shoot it as well and get it developed, and you end up with two rolls of pretty random double exposures been looking at some of the stuff like that on flickr, a lot of it looks pretty awesome [editline]29th January 2012[/editline] if anyone is up for it, it would be a bonus if you have an OM system camera, because then there's a much better chance that the frames will line up
Its an odd idea, but I would be up for it

Expired in '01. Picked it up in an antiques shop for 3 quid. Pretty much everything else on the roll is unusable because of horrible grain.
What kind of film do you guys recommend?
