How can a scanner not recognise something? Surely you put it on the scanner, close the lid, and scan?
:/ when I borrow a DSLR next I'll put together a tutorial on how I scan film, hopefully that will help you.
Cheers mate. That'd be awesome. Maybe screenshots of how to use the software as well?
How can a scanner not recognise something? Printers don't print and scanners don't scan, how is this legal.
shoebox scanner took a shoebox, cut a film-sized hole in the top, and a flash-sized hole in a side, lined the back end with paper. Used my 50mm with a +4 macro adapter on it at f/5.6 and shot with the flash remotely. The film is backlit, in focus, and high detail. :buddy:
:( I don't have an external flash.
:( I don't have an external flash.
how bout a powerful lightbulb, and use a tripod for a longer exposure?
That's a thought. I'll give it a try sometime soon.
about to fire up my scanner for a roll of ektar 35mm and a roll of blurry-and-double-exposed-as-fuck 120
I live on film. I just got my first DSLR not to long ago. Before that it was all film. Just got a few rolls back. I hate dumping, but here goes. Woah, the Superia 800 doesn't look that bad actually. I love the pictures by the way.
I'm going to an antiques store in a bit, anything I should look out for? (ME Super already on the list).
Canon EOS 3 if it's a tenner ;D
I would look for a Canon EF (the one with FD mount). Quite scarce camera and built like the much more expensive F1. Many stores don't know the value of this camera, and it didn't sell very much because it was quite expensive at the time being. (and the AE1 didn't help sales figures too). Nice fact that it just takes 1.5V px625 batteries without needing to adjust te meter :)
Only thing I found was a Kodak Junior I. :v:
Just copied what I posted in the Creative thread: All taken yesterday: Shot a roll of film - 24 exposure roll from the pound shop: Untitled by edwin.quast, on Flickr Alex, Ciara by edwin.quast, on Flickr Avi by edwin.quast, on Flickr Untitled by edwin.quast, on Flickr Callum, Mike, Harry, Ciara, Jonny by edwin.quast, on Flickr Alex - Bluebell by edwin.quast, on Flickr
Amazing pics Pickwickian-. What camera and film?
Thanks dude. Olympus OM-10 with a manual adapter. First camera I ever owned. How I learned to use the settings on a camera. And I mentioned it before, but a home brand film from the 1 pound shop.
I think I've commented on this one before, but my god I think it's magical. It's perfect in my eyes.
Thank you. That means a lot to me.
Olympus OM system is the way to go for small manual focus SLR.
I got a roll of 200 ISO color film at the 99c Only store. I guess I'll see how it comes out.
my gas station had a single roll of fuji 400 in a "half-price" bucket. Rang up at $5. yeah time to find a dollar store if I want cheap stuff
That seems outrageously expensive to me... Then again, I've never really used color film, always used black and white. I still haven't gotten my film from Death Valley developed. Also, I'm almost done with a redscale roll that my friend gave me. I have yet to get a single roll developed from my Nikon F. Identical to:
it's outrageously expensive given I can buy a 4-pack of fuji at walmart for ten bucks. Gas station "convenience" charge I guess. Ran there because I figured they'd have something crappy I could toss into my 2-A without feeling like I was wasting something
one roll of Kodak Portra 800 = $10 / have to order online four rolls of Fuji Superia 800 = $10 / can get at walmart
Portra and Superia are of totally different leagues though. It's like comparing a cheapo 10mpx point and shoot with a 1000D, they both have the same resolution, but the quality is scales of magnitude different.
I'm jus sayin :v: TBH, superia is inferia, but it can work
To be honest, I think the cheap roll I shot looks alright. But it wasn't that "memories" film...
