$8 is a lot, I'm pretty sure I got a 5 pack of medium format Ektar for like $24, and the 35mm is only around $5... This is from B&H.

I just got three rolls of Ektar online they cost £3.25 a roll which is great. Normally they go for £4.50 online
Well in Malaysian prices $8 is quite cheap, I bought it retail so I guess I'll try online next time. Still thinking what other camera should I get though, anyone have any ideas?
What are some good film camera's for about 150 dollars?
[editline]6th April 2012[/editline]
Okay I just bought this for $35 http://www.canon.co.uk/for_home/product_finder/cameras/slr/eos_3000n/index.asp good buy?
OM system master race :v:
[editline]6th April 2012[/editline]
actually, my girlfriend has that camera, and it's pretty decent. the body is mostly plastic so it's really lightweight, i'm pretty sure it weighs less than a digital rebel body.
slightly disconcerting that even the lens mount is plastic though, but that's just me
Going out tomorrow, might just be getting me a Rolleiflex with Zeiss lens. If not a Mamiya RB 64.
Found a fullmetal leica going for $295 but some of it are rusted and I like leica with leathers better. Also found Voigtlander Vito and Bessa for $500.
I want to get a medium format though, and I fell in love with the Rollei since the first time I got my hands on it. But there are many choices and I'll think about them later.
got some film back today! shots from my minolta look amazing, shots from my canon had light leaks
i sold the minolta :(
shooting myself in the foot right now, seriously so upset. i need a new AE-1 body, going to see if my mom's ftb works. but man was it disappointing to know the camera i sold worked perfectly and the one i kept hardly works at all :c
can you do anything to just re-seal it to avoid leaks?
possibly. but i have two ae-1s, i think i just threaded one of them wrong and the foam on my ftb is good. just going to have to get some goodwill rolls of film to test the cameras out.
also i have a roll of holga film in my ae-1 right now. going to have to steal another roll from urban lol ;(
For 30 bucks. Grabbed myself a couple of Yashicaflexes. One of them looks as good as dead and the other seems to have a bit of a chance to live. Might just end up selling both of them for collectibles though.
[editline]8th April 2012[/editline]
Oh yeah. Also bought 10 rolls of Ektar 100.

Any thoughts? C&C?
(the last one looks/is a bit blurry I know and no it's not the lens it was the line that was wonky :eng101:)
God damn, I went in today to go and develop my first roll.
It's safe to say that it was a disaster, someone put the light on in the other room and the light shone under the door and I had a great black space closer to the end of my strip, some pictures looked kind of underexposed and now I just have to wait and see if the dial on my camera for the ISO selection wasn't lying to me. Needless to say I had a fun times!
Well, kinda. :suicide:
Thanks for the feel, Dai. [img]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/ratings/heart.png[/img]
Oh fuck. I've forgotten that 10 rolls of my Ektar was in the bag that a checked into cargo on my flight home.
Shit, I hope its safe. Cause that is about $50 worth of films.
Gotta love the smell of 120films. Which mine is confirmed dead thanks to x-ray.
just out of interest, how difficult/easy would it be to get into making your own black and white prints?
Got some photos to post now from various times.
just out of interest, how difficult/easy would it be to get into making your own black and white prints?
You would need a dark room, dev trays, chemicals, an enlarger, safe lights, a timer and the paper of course.
Then some strings and clips to hang the prints while they dry.
In it self it shouldn't be too hard you just need those things and some practice.
My dad used to do it, we just found some old prints he did and they were quite nice actually.
By the way is 49£ shipped a good price for 10 rolls of Portra 400 120?

It's 100 ISO right? You might be fine. Pretty sure it's not sensitive enough for X-rays to bother it too bad.
It's 100 ISO right? You might be fine. Pretty sure it's not sensitive enough for X-rays to bother it too bad.
I hope it is though. I really have to get myself a lead bag in case this happens again.
just found an olympus om-1 with a 50mm 1.4 at the pawnshop by me for $40, so i bought it. should i keep it or sell it? this is the focal length i'd use most on my canon anyways, so it would be a good intermediate camera until i get a working one.
holy shit though the viewfinder is massive
confirmed dead thanks to x-ray.
How did you confirm it dead? As said, pretty much anything under 800 will be fine, and even then it's only a slight exposure -fogging- that happens.
I once took the same ISO 160 rolls 4 times through the xrays at airports and they came out 100% fine.
my only problem with it is the dented filter ring on the lens, which means no ND filter, so i can't shoot wide open in the day :(

Japanese airports give warning to passengers that anything ISO400 and above will be damaged by scanners. It might still work but I'm pretty sure the pictures wont be pretty. I don't really mind though, as my TLR decided to get stuck and be inoperable.
English security try to convince me every time that scanners do nothing to film, they'll never check it over by hand.
Nothing special, but a few recent-ish shots:

Because they really don't. I took 400 iso film through 5 different xray scanners and they turned out perfectly fine. Now, 800 iso and above did get slightly foggy but American airports at least have signs that say they will hand check 800+ iso films.

when I went through airports with ~$250 of film, I didn't even want to *risk* having that damaged.
a 30 year old scanner in the glasgow transport museum says it's safe upto 1600ASA.
