I'd help, I'm in about the middle of the United States.
So those of you who do their own film developing, what do I need to get started? The place where I sent all of my 35mm to get developed just stopped their developing service, and I figure I should just do it myself, it's pretty simple. Just want to make sure I remember everything.

I think if you walk around with that thing over here you would likely get shot by the police.

Got a budget of £300 and need film camera and scanner recommendations if anyone has any, I doubt my X10 would be able to scan/shoot film very well.
Just realised today how good fuji superia 200 really is. It's way nicer to edit scans from it than from kodak colorplus. They make superia 200? Where I live I can only get 400. Though I'd be lying if I said I didn't adore kodak gold 200
They make superia 200? Where I live I can only get 400. Though I'd be lying if I said I didn't adore kodak gold 200
Around here i can even get Superia 100. Not that common, but it exists.
need to get a better scanner, either need to get a power cord for my v500 to find out if it works, or a slide holder for my macro lens, either way would work. this was all shot on 200, so there isn't really any grain, just my scanner :/ colors were difficult to correct as well. will probably rescan once i have a better solution last one is my favorite because it was taken with a 50mm, i was chasing a wild animal with that lens :P also goodbye Om1n, sold you for almost 3x what i paid for you!
Planning on getting back into film this summer. After my medium format camera broke, my old scanner broke, and my(now expired) developing chems screwed up two rolls I kinda gave up. But seeing all the recent content here has reminded me why I love it.
Guess what everyone: MORE URBEX PHOTOS This was a lovely place to look around under constant threat of security nearby. Those steetly photos are beyond amazing
Thanks, its damn shame they are continuing to knock it down, there was plenty more I wanted to see.
Brilliant photos communistcat. What lens were you using at that shoot, out of curiosity? Was it a 50mm?
I think it was either a 55mm or a 58mm (possibly a 35mm somewhere in there aswell) for steetley While the Pumping Station ones were a mix of my Bell and Howell 28mm-80mm lens and my Fuji 50mm.
I feel a little silly for just realizing that I can't just remove the 35mm film from the camera and start scanning it with my flatbed/digital camera, I forgot about the whole developing, bollocks.
I shot with film today for the first time using a Praktica LTL3/Fujinon f/2.2 55mm and Kodak Ultramax that I bought from communistcat (great guy by the way) and wow, I can really understand why people just love shooting film, having to do everything manually, using the viewfinder to set exposure, having to actually think about your composition and subject/technicalities because you can't just shoot a thousand pictures and hope they turn out good is just a fantastic feeling, really puts you in the zone, I'll definitely be buying a lot more film once I burn through and develop the two rolls communistcat sent with the camera.
Either the royal mail has done a good job or its been a lot longer since I sent it than I can remember. OK it took less than two days, how did they manage that. [editline]24th May 2012[/editline] And I need more cameras my cupboard is nearly empty only 7 cameras in there Camera Cupboard by CommunistWolf, on Flickr

You can waste film just as you can waste digital shots, people simply tend to be more wary about film as it costs money but if you are serious about your photos you can easily do the same with a digital camera. Also eye+memory light meter master race!
I just bought my third Olympus XA First one didn't work properly. Every mode had a 12-second timer on it so that's just not going to work. Probably a fucked up curcuit or something. The second one was a scam so I lost some money there and the third one is hopefully in prestine condition on it's way here.
These are all from that expired roll of AGFA Vista 200, I got four more rolls of it and I am happy with the results. Note the grain in the third shot is from overexposure.
