ow, my loins.
excellent photo here, REALLY digging the colors.
Did you get a scan back and then process that on the computer? The colors and contrast are really good.
Also, I really like how generally forgiving film is as long as you get developing times and exposure right. Today was the second time it took 20 minutes of man-handling to get my 120 film onto theto the developing reel, during which I creased it slightly, touched the undeveloped film itself at several points and in various places, even dropping it on the school's filthy darkroom floor two or three times where I had to get down and feel around for it, and even though all that went down, once I finally got it on the developing reel and developed it it turned out fine, except for some creased edges on the film. Oh well.
But really, getting 120 onto a developing reel is a fucking nightmare. I don't think I'll ever quite have the right feel for that and it will just be arduous every time.
When I loaded mine, I fumbled around trying to clip it for a bit, then just decided to wrap it on carefully. Wound up loading it right, but the camera messed up, I wound up only getting the first shot of the roll. The other 11 were blank. :(
The editing I do on the computer is minimal, just slight contrast adjustments and white balance. Colours aren't altered though (which can be a downside, you'll notice the grass changes colour between the photos).
Does anyone know if you try to process color film with black and white chemicals, will it ruin the chemicals or just the film?
Does anyone know if you try to process color film with black and white chemicals, will it ruin the chemicals or just the film?
Well you're not really re-using most of the chemicals, so it doesn't really matter... But it does ruin the film.
ordered the two hewes steel reels for $15/piece, much better price. Made sure they were the ones with the sprocket hole grabbing prong thing instead of clips

The school re-uses all the chemicals until. Do you just pour your chemicals out when you're done developing paper or negatives?
Edit: Made an 8x8 enlargement of this the other day. Really unhappy with every part from the tree down, I do like the contrast of the two trees against the dark forest, though.

Ah right, forgot schools do that. Yea I just pour my chems out when I'm done.

Seems wasteful :c Chems don't lose their potency until ~10 uses for most chemicals.

in my class we'd use d76 once and dump it, but the fixer and hypo would be poured back into the bottle. that cleaning solution you use after your final wash would get dumped

this slide film looks rather interesting, anyone ever use it before?
I have not but I want some, Look at that plain box and the red tub.
i know, it's expert marketing. it looks so simple, but i fucking-want-it.
IT'S RED, NOT YELLOW AND BLACK, OR WHITE, BLUE, AND BLACK, OR WHATEVER
IT'S RED
Do you have any more rolls I really want some to go with the other boxes of film I have.

absolutely love this one!
Got another roll developed today. Not many great shots, but here's a couple I'm pretty happy with.
Where do you guys get your scans?
Local ASDA, UK's answer to Walmart, £1 per roll, 16p for a print and £2 for all rolls developed at once onto a cd and the guy who works there is a wizard with his chems.
Once i opened my back up by accident near the end of a roll, i told him and he said it may or may not work. Low and behold it came out fine after he worked on it for a good hour or so.

Had a go at dodging and burning for the first time today. Generally happy with this photo, but the scan is really shitty.
Where do you guys get your scans?
I get them developed for free at the pharmacy just down from work (because we're always helping them out when their printer goes kaput) and then bring the negs back to work and use our fuji lab scanner.
Just shot first roll of film recently and going to start to learn how to develop it tomorrow.
After that i'll be able to use the school darkroom whenever :D
Can somebody please repost that rule of thumb with the ISO and the shutter speed? I am having a hard time since I don't have a lightmeter and beginning film.
Can somebody please repost that rule of thumb with the ISO and the shutter speed? I am having a hard time since I don't have a lightmeter and beginning film.
Sunny 16. At f/16 in midday sun (no clouds) your shutter speed should be the closest to your film ISO.
This site gives a bit of a better insight into certain levels of cloud cover http://www.guidetofilmphotography.com/sunny-16-exposure.html
Also, if you get a chance, take some shots under street lights at night and take note of the exposure settings you use. This will help you in general estimation of exposure in other conditions that outside at daytime.
Shot my first roll of film on a school field trip for my photography class, got to hang out with the AP photo students.

Does anyone here ever developed Ilford HP5+ (ISO 400) in 1:100 Rodinal (or R09 one shot)?
Developed another roll today

Oh also, I'm interested in trying some colour reversal film. Any recommendations on brands, where to get it from, oddities when shooting with it?
