really digging this one.
that second one is awesome buddy, great tones and mood!
How anal do you have to be about the temperature of color film before it's developed?
Loaded a roll of film into an old action-tracker camera of mine.
Similar to, but not the same as this:

my boss went on a 2 week roadtrip along route 66 in an old 'vette, carrying the camera I fixed for him along the journey. I gave him six 36-exposure rolls of film, he said he'd probably not use it all
he came back in today and handed me 14 rolls ready to develop, found a stockpile of ilford hp5 somewhere. Also said that airport security had to put him through the wringer because an 'adverse chemical' turned up on one of the film rolls, weird.
gonna need to go buy more chemicals or something. Anyone want to suggest particular chemicals for HP5? I know I can put it through the general kodak process but I might order whatever works best for it.
I don't really understand the purpose of that format Pick. Care to explain?
I don't really understand the purpose of that format Pick. Care to explain?
takes four shots on a single exposure over a short period of time. I think the shutter is literally a disc with a hole in it that spins around to uncover the lenses.
only time it's really stood out to me was things like people jumping into a pool or kids doing things on skateboards, lots of movement and such.
I think it would be pretty cool to get a shot of a girl in a field, wearing a long dress billowing in the wind
I don't really understand the purpose of that format Pick. Care to explain?
It's fun?
So, I picked up some film for my EOS-650, and I was wondering.
If I load my film into the camera, how long can it sit in my camera before it starts to degrade?
I don't plan on shooting with it a whole ton, but I'd like to use it here and there.
I was thinking of shooting a few shots a day, and use up all 24 exposures by the end of the week?

Unless you have horrible light leaks or your film is past expiry, I don't see why there'd be any adverse effects from leaving it in the camera for an extended period.
Alrighty! Thank you!
Film will last a surprisingly long time. It's not uncommon to buy an old camera from a charity shop with film inside from decades ago. It often develops fine, with only a little shift in colour.
Guys, I really like the look of reversal film, but I don't have the slightest clue about its caveats.
Does shooting with it require any different measures? Can it be developed at most places that develop regular negs? Is it particularly hard to come across?
I really want to get some and try it out.
finding a place to develop it might be a little more difficult
negative colour film is developed with the c-41 process, which is what all labs will do. for quite a lot of labs, especially a pharmacy or something, that will be the only process they can do
reversal film is developed with e-6, so that's what you need to look for
[editline]2nd October 2012[/editline]
also reversal film is generally more sensitive to how correct the exposure settings are than negatives
[editline]2nd October 2012[/editline]
with regards to developing, you can also get pre-paid processing rolls where you just mail them off in an envelope that comes with the film, and the price of the roll already includes the cost of the developing with that lab

So I'm using this for the weekend.
So the does anyone know how much this camera costed when it came out in 1982? It was a high end consumer grade camera and I want to compare it to a DSLR today, 30+ years later.

C&C is welcome.
apparently the xg-m cost $223.90 when it came out in 1982
adjusted for inflation that's about $515 or so in today's USD

Right so it costs as much as a Canon T2i.
Right so it costs as much as a Canon T2i.
Almost. I use the XG-M and it works pretty nicely, but wouldn't pay 220 dollars for it, let alone more than 500.
Almost. I use the XG-M and it works pretty nicely, but wouldn't pay 220 dollars for it, let alone more than 500.
At today's prices, you can get this with a bunch of lenses for like $20
Finally got my rolls processed and printed. Because I can not afford a film scanner I just take the prints and scan it with my (not so) wonderful scanner. As usual, the scans are off-coloured and I had to 'cheat' by editing the images to get the same colours as the prints.
Here's some of them. Most of these are from my Japan. Will dump the others if you guys like it.

Had to take some portraits on a mamiya 645 for uni

developed the film last week, I think we're doing the prints tomorrow, so i'll post them once they're done.
Any of you guys that develop film have any tips for rolling film onto those spools for developing?

Practice, practice, practice.
As in practice with dummy rolls and such. It's a pain in the ass but you will get better at it.
Got my negs from the mamiya shoot, haven't had a chance to scan them in today, but we got given a K1000 to shoot with, and reversal film, which is awesome, can't wait to see it developed.

Pretty much this, but practice in the dark, the dark is the one thing I find as soon as im in it, I'm not prepared for it.
My mate Ben and his girlfriend, Rosie, at the festival a few weeks ago.
They had the baby on Tuesday. Her name is Hazel.

Recently I've felt stuck in a rut about photography and just generally frustrated that I can't achieve what I want to in comparison to other. Today I took a step back and realised how far I've come since I started this new Flickr at the end of January and even my older shots and I feel very content with myself. That being said I'm striving to get better but I think I'm going to stop being inspired and make my own way.

A bit from my side here:
After 3 years into photography I checked back early photos and I realize that, my photos went from bad, to good, then to shit. I've consulted lots of photographers and guess what, they all said the same exact thing. "Its all in the editing".
Personally, I despise editing.
So I decided to go all natural.
So far the only 'editing' I done is to fix my scanner fuck-ups and crop out the images from the scans.
And I fell in love with film ever since I processed my first Kodak Ektar roll. Its sad knowing that these rolls will go extinct soon.
