• Why Your Brain is Really Cool
People always forget that the biggest part f the brains "work" is stuff like holding temperature, balance, heartbeat etc. etc. and that are VERY data intensive tasks.
What we need are [del]case[/del] skull fans.
This makes me want to steal a brain and program it. Or something.
Our brains are good at doing things that computers cannot do, and vice versa. Not many people can calculate complex sums in their head instantly. Then again, we programmed the computers to do the things that we can't do, which probably explains why we seem to be good at each other's downfalls.
i remember reading that the brain stores absolutely all information you intake and can never erase any of it, which leads to dementia the like

Just think... someday soon you could be connecting your brain to your desktop PC via USB in order to transfer all of those mental photographs into your documents.
My brain cannot play Stalker therefore my brain is not cool.
Awesome, I wanna take super high-res pictures of my dong with my eyes and put them on the internet
And this is why you want it?
Computer: 519085365987646089 + 24357089569384963780494 = 2.43576087 × 1022 Person: 519085365987646089 + 24357089569384963780494 = Fuck off, couldn't do this if I tried.
Addition is very simple. If you can't do that on a piece of paper (or in your head, if you have very good short-term memory :v:) you should reconsider 4th grade. I think you might've meant multiplication though :3:
My brain cannot play Stalker therefore my brain is not cool.
I guess you haven't used your imagination in a while.
TBH I don't really think you can say our brains are more "powerful" than todays computers. You just cannot compare these two "platforms" that are completely different things. I wanna see our brains forming a 3 dimensional world out of 2 million polygons with a refresh rate of 30 per second? The problem is that computers's way to handle non-basic math information is extremely inefficient and it's quite hard to program and optimize computers, that use bits, for certain applications.
Brains and computers are 2 very different entities. Computers can do only specific tasks they are made to do, brains in the other hand evolve and learn from the environment. We don't even know much about our brains yet. Who knows what we will eventually find out.

I was doing about the brain in psychology in college, about how memory works, how misleading questions can affect recall etc. It was pretty interesting.
Your eyes alone are pretty cool too. Your eyesight will surpass all cameras that will ever exist. Even a 40 MP cannot beat your eyes!

Computers only deal with the most raw forms of data (numbers), while we can use complex logic and prediction. You could say that it's optimized for the tasks necessary for survival.
Awesome, I wanna take super high-res pictures of my dong with my eyes and put them on the internet
Exactly. Also, imagine if you just pulled out a camera a took a picture of a female's cleavage. Now you can use a more subtle method. :smug:
Unfortunately, our brains use a trial version of WinRAR, thus making data compression and decompression slow and a pain in the ass.
cool story bro
mines not...... it just makes pornos. wait its fucking awesome!
i'll put my floppy in your disc drive [editline]24th January 2011[/editline] i'll put my ram in your data port
I used to think my brain was awesome, but then I realized my brain was telling me that. I'm on to you, brain!
Coolio, but is the myth that were only using 10% of our brains true? Answer gets a heart!
Coolio, but is the myth that were only using 10% of our brains true? Answer gets a heart!
No, Mythbusters busted that one ages ago
The real question is this: Are we doing what we were programmed to do? EDIT: WHY is my avatar Bieber???
Wait, so why aren't we putting more money into turning out brains into a network where everyone is connected to it? That would seem like a much better thing to do than make computer chips smaller and smaller, if people could have an "internet" in their brains, regular computers would be useless, except for things such as monitoring power stations, and defense systems. But even then, computers could simply be organic computers that are more efficient.
I don't understand [editline]25th January 2011[/editline]
The real question is this: Are we doing what we were programmed to do? EDIT: WHY is my avatar Bieber???
Because you haven't uploaded your own
