TONY STARK IN A CAVE HAS NOTHING ON THIS
Pre-ordered this lovely little thing, hope it takes off. God damn, this looks awesome.
This thing is so fucking cool, and they should be applauded for the price point alone.
That would be awesome if let's say it could scan your hand while holding an airsoft pistol then would fire (Your weapon in game) each time you pulled the trigger. It really would make FPS games more immersive.
I might preorder in the near future, once some more info is out. Seems like a really cool gadget to have around.
You can cancel your preorder any time and also you only get charged if it gets shipped, so win-win!
You can cancel your preorder any time and also you only get charged if it gets shipped, so win-win!
But why would you want to?
can you navigate the desktop with it? Do you still need a keyboard too?
At first i though it would cost 200+, but no its 70$, Amazing.
Hmm, I wonder what playing Arma 2 would be like with this. Leap plus TrackIR would be amazing. Guess I've got two purchases to make down the line.
can you navigate the desktop with it? Do you still need a keyboard too?
According to the site it functions as a keyboard as well as it does a mouse
Pre-ordered!
I sent in a developer application, I want to use it to control robots for FIRST
But why would you want to?
Secure a copy in case it gets sold out or something I suppose.
I'm seriously contemplating getting one now
Air Guitar Hero
I wonder how well does it work in a non well-lit environment
Gonna pre-order one today.
I wonder how well does it work in a non well-lit environment
I'm sure the light from your monitor would suffice
They should do a minority report style tech demo. That would be SWWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEET
I wonder how well does it work in a non well-lit environment
Probably pretty well seeing as how it uses it's own infrared light to track stuff.
Imagine if you projected a hologram so it would follow your hand movements and make it look like your hand was really touching and moving the hologram.

I want to play starcraft on this just like
This is the first thing I've seen lately to blow me away. It looks so convenient and simple! It's easy to impliment into current technlogies due to its small nature and simple interface (I could see this being put into laptops like cameras and microphones are today), it's backwards-compatible with any other touch screen device, and it's easy enough to use that it's natural. Anyone have any criticisms of it? I'm curious to see the downsides besides a tired arm. [editline]5th June 2012[/editline]
Looks incredible, but I don't think I have a practical use for it
I can see it as being something that is used in more public locations in the future. Think of one of those product kiosks. Usually they use a touchscreen, but those get used so frequently that they get grimy. You have to touch everything. With something like this, the scanner could be made more resilient and weather-proof, and then you would have a hands-free UI. While it wouldn't be useful for a technical person who does development, but for the casual consumer who browses pages for whatever, it would be neat. I'm trying to think of an accurate sort of analogy, but I'm struggling to think one up. Regardless, it does have its specialized usage. More specific things such as model manipulation in a museum exhibit or drawing something on a virtual whiteboard during a lecture would make use of it nicely, but something like this would not be very useful for that 5-hour span someone like you and would spend on their computer.
I love how we have the technology to do absolutely everything in that Minority Report video except the software. We have transparent screens, motion controls and actually I think that's all we need.
We have transparent screens? This I would like to see as well.
Wouldn't be hard to make, just use one of those micro projectors and some sheets of glass / plastic
