• Could Hitler happen again?

This may happen again, it may not. Either way, pancakes will always be delicious. Period, end of story. :ms:
History repeats itself or should I say Hitlery repeats itself
Putin rules
He leads a broken country that was once a global empire. He's consolidated power and now has near-total control over the media and local government. He's also a leading partner in the war on terror — much like Hitler was a bulwark against Communism — so we let him get away with a lot, particularly in Chechnya. Russia's half-assed capitalism has done nothing to curb corruption, so when the Russians have had enough humiliation and poverty, they'll follow anyone who'll promise their empire back; and unlike Hitler, Putin has a UN Security Council seat and a huge arsenal of nuclear weapons to fall back on. So there you have it. In five to ten years, when Russia starts making claims on Georgia and Uzbekistan and Ukraine and Latvia, don't say I didn't warn you.
Why would he want to claim these countries? They are poor and will only lead Russia to even worse state.
There is so much more connectivity today and information is so much more readily available. The beginning of a holocaust could show itself, but I doubt it would get very far before the people of the world did something about it. Then again, I'm an optimist and the world looks a little more like Brave New World every day. :sigh
There has been a holocost going on in Africa since the '90s, which no first-world military has even responded to yet.
hitler just gave the people of germany something to blame ww1 and the suffering that resulted on - the jews
Sadly, not. :frown: (I'm Aryan)
Not a fascist (Apparently.)
"i'm NOT a racist, i just hate everyone that isn't white or heterosexual" - nick griffin I doubt hitler could happen again, on that scale I mean. It could happen, but whoever the new hitler is wouldn't get very far.
[img_thumb]http://www.cinemaretro.com/uploads/hitler.jpg[/img_thumb] Hitler rose to power in the 30's when the country was in the toilet. Depression, unemployment, poverty and anger. Does that sound familiar? What I'm asking is, say some hypothetical charismatic right winger sees the current state of the country/world and decides, fuck this, I could take over here. Would it be allowed? I think the point I'm trying to make is, will the people get desperate enough to allow it? Only forty years passed from the time of Gustav Schmoller to that of Adolph Hitler. How many years will it take for the Post-Autistics to find their own Hitler? I'm sure there are a few people who'd vote for a maniac if he: *Cleared the streets of scum *Had a zero tolerance of crime *Got the country working again Then once he's in power we'd be rightly fucked. Let's take a closer look at some popular choices: Kim Jong-il, North Korea. [img_thumb]http://bajan.files.wordpress.com/2009/05/kimjongil.jpg[/img_thumb] Osama Bin Laden, Al Qaeda. [img_thumb]http://static.crooksandliars.com/files/uploads/2009/04/bin%20laden_5d964.jpg[/img] Fidel Castro, Cuba. [img_thumb]http://www.radiosanctispiritus.cu/version%20ingles/Noticias%20Ordenadas%20por%20dias/Fidel/Reflections/fidel-castro-2.jpg[/img_thumb] Hugo Chavez, Venezuela. [img_thumb]http://blog.taragana.com/sports/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/hugo-chavez-1.jpg[/img_thumb] Vladimir Putin, Russia. [img_thumb]http://missiledefense.files.wordpress.com/2009/09/vladimir-putin2_0.jpg[/img_thumb] Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iran. [img_thumb]http://hiphoprepublican.com/wp-content/uploads/mahmoud-ahmadinejad.jpg[/img_thumb]
you're retarded [editline]02:43PM[/editline]
:colbert:
look at that face you can tell he's just plotting something really mean and evil like gay-marriage rights or protecting prochoice or legalizing marijuana or something really terrible like that
Since Chavez talks directly with Ahmadinejad, Castro, Putin, and Kim Jong Il, I'd say he's the most likely to start a third world war. Europe is way too close knit to be the cause, Africa is too disorganized, the Middle East has secular, not global, conflicts. South America however, has millions of riches, Venezuela is as a matter of fact one of the biggest exporters of oil in the world, it's reserves are incredibly big, has uranium in the Esequibo, gold in Guayana. Venezuela is recently getting in conflicts with the USA and Colombia, it's neighbors, and is making deals with the economically repressed part of the world. That, and Venezuela has incredibly great economical divisions, with an great history of corruption, specifically under Chavez regime ( One of Chavez ministers is about to enter the Forbes top 20 richest of the world, something that his income would absolutely not allow. ), people getting absolutely rich for being on Chavez' party, and all thanks to oil money. In fact, the illicit leeching of this money was in such way that PDVSA, the state's oil company, is now broke. As a Venezuelan, I can assure you. If someone doesn't take down Chavez soon, WWIII is gonna happen. That, and the situation is perfect, Venezuela does everything under the radar, because nobody in America has any idea the country even exists.
Could another man just like Hitler be born? Yes. Would he ever rise to power? Probably not. Why? Because, Hitler rose to power because he was a war hero who had people to blame and a great leadership. In order for another man like him to rise to power, he would have to be a war hero, also have a minority to put the blame on, and be able to hold an audience. Many other factors to...
Think of it as a disease, when you first get sick, from some new infection, your body really takes a hit. couple months later, you get the same infection, your body knows about it, thus has built defenses, according to what it knows (from past experience) and you won't get sick as bad. Same logic can be applied here.
I hope Amadnndwjasd whatever the fuck his name is dies in a fire. Fuck that homo. EDIT: oh right Obama
You forgot to put Obama on that list dude.
Yes, it will happen again. I remember there being a really good twilight zone episode with the exact same premise.

And the man had absolutely no leadership skills, he was just angry as fuck. A clear demonstration would be the absolute failure of Operation Barbarossa, the Wunderwaffe program, and his failure to retaliate a proper defense against the American and Soviet invasion.
When a country is in a depression, they always search desperately for someone to pull them out. That's no surprise. What made Hitler, well, Hitler is that he pulled them out by going to a financially profitable war and put the blame on a certain group of people he later went on to commit genocide on. Might as well try to say everyone who walks on 2 feet is Hitler.
Because, Hitler rose to power because he was a war hero who had people to blame and a great leadership.
uh no hitler was hardly a war hero, over four million iron crosses were handed out in WWI
You forgot to put Obama on that list dude.
yeah making world leaders happier again just screams Axis of Evil
Oh Obama is gonna fucking kill the world, yeah, health care can NOT be a good thing. Fucking please. Wanna live a rough life? Head down here to Venezuela, try not to get fucking killed.

Barbarossa was always going to fail. Hitler didn't help but they weren't gonna win WWII.
You make it sound like if Hitler was a style. [editline]11:00PM[/editline] Could flairs happen again, yo?

The more things change; the more they stay the same. Boundaries shift, new players step in, but power always finds a place to rest it's head.
hitler had brilliant leadership skills he changed the moral values of an entire society through his eloquent speeches His anger and presence were the key to his impact
That's not leadership. That's charisma. You can tell in most of his speeches, that Hitler is speaking his mind, he didn't think things up strategically. The man was sick, but he spoke to the people, he offered them someone to blame. Enoch Powell was wrong with his Rivers of Blood speech, but even with that, some believed what he said, because they needed someone to blame. That, and he was surrounded with smart yet equally sick people. I would say more that he was the public face of the interests of the cabinet. He's a lot like Chavez, a good barker, but a dog nontheless.
Hitler can happen again. It may be different as we have changed so much.
Hitler was good at politics, but when he tried to fight wars, he failed.
By the way, Castro has stepped down from power, his brother is the new EL PRESIDENTE and he is believed to have some kind of terminal cancer. [editline]11:08PM[/editline] So I think you can rule him out of the "candidates"
