Dude if ActionScript 3 is anything like c# then it is soooo worth it!
Okay, I'll bite. I've been looking at downloading one of the newer versions of flash, but I've just stuck with Flash 8 because it's what I've been using for a while. Well, looks like it's time to completely legally acquire the newest version of flash. I'm betting it's a pain in the ass to port from as2 to as3 and still have it function, but I guess it's better to do it now than later.
Yeah i'm not trying to be awkward, but you'll be glad you did in the longrun. Plus the code you've got is nothing really, that'd take me about 20 mins to write. Once you get into the actual gameplay you'll need to add waaaaaaaay more, and AS2 will make that near impossible.

I'm installing it now. [editline]17th July 2011[/editline] Finished downloading, the whole layout seems pretty familiar. I like the loop function, that should help with the animations. I'm going to look at how to do frame commands (gotoAndStop, etc) so that I can get a basic feel for the language.
haha loop function, you have much to learn young grasshopper. But just give us a pm if there's anything specific you need help with. You may need to slow down your game for a couple of weeks whilst you learn, but it's well worth it.

I'm hoping for release around late august.

Would be really cool if the character you play as had a physics-based cape/robe. Like if it flew around as you jumped, not sure if thats possible though, as I do not know much about flash. Also, would be nice if you added some dust and some splash animations to the water. Would bring up the visuals a lot. Just a suggestion.

Those are some really cool ideas, though. I'll work on seeing if I can learn the code to do something like that.

Okay, so this is half possible music for the game, half shameless self-promotion of the album I'm working on, and half a bump of this thread, because I'm going to get the code from Occlusion, and resume work on the game.(Woooo!) http://bradmastah.bandcamp.com/track/the-aether
Which program did you use for the music? Fruityloops? [editline]5th August 2011[/editline] Also I really like the music.
